I just got back with my girlfriend and her daughter for her daughter’s 19thbirthday. 4 nights of terror. First off the welcoming staff was extremely not welcoming. Tania and Deidro, I forgot his name the manager were rude and gave me the key to another persons room and took no responsibility. Bad customer service. My entire stay my was room was getting locked, water was not being sent to room. Anything we asked for was not being met. Food was overall no bueno. But I just came from Riu Palace Peninsula a month ago and they were a ten across the board and they went above and beyond service and staff, so welcoming. I most likely will never book a Riu again because of my stay with RIU Palace Mexico. The only thing that saved our entire trip was our excursion to Tulum. 15th ave in the city was nice too. $1450 for four nights wasn’t worth it. Daniella and the coffee young girl morning shift were awesome.

Spent a week here in May for my birthday. I loved this hotel!!! The room was nice, the food was awesome and the service was excellent. We ate at the Steakhouse twice. The surf n turf was delicious! Even the food at the buffet was great!! My wife and I were completely satisfied!! Oh yeah, the beach was beautiful and no problem finding a lounge chair!!!

My stay at this property was overrated. Due to the very unfortunate situation I was put on by EXPEDIA. Expedia really messed up my whole vacation. I had originally booked two separate rooms for TWO people each. Since the second room I booked was mistakenly booked for ONE person, I called in to speak with someone at EXPEDIA, and they told me that they would update the booking and make it for two people, which it was clearly not the case. The day of my check-in I was welcomed to the surprise that Expedia did not update or made the changes to what I had requested, leaving a bad experience and taste to the whole vacation. The rooms are very outdated, dirty and the toilet and one of the sinks clogged. We told and ask maintenance to come and fix it, and only attempted once, told me and my wife that it was fixed, and it was not. Also, another thing that really ticked me off was the fact that the price I was charged extra for the second guest was almost close to $1k which is outrageous! And to top it all off, the people at the reception lied to me, telling me that my family and friends that were staying at the other RIU properties would be able to join us at the pool or ameno and it was ALl a FAT lie!

The property as a whole was in my opinion just a bit above average. The hotel needs a remodel, or update on amenities. The beds were not very comfortable. Our toilet, was clogged, along with the sink. We told reception to have it fixed. They stated that it was unclogged by the maintenance person. But it was not. Also, EXPEDIA as a whole made my stay very miserable due to the inconvenience and inaccuracy.

Property is beautiful. Well maintained, and great staff. Please don’t skip on tipping staff just because a portion is included in your package. They work so hard….including housekeeping! Resort desperately needs to add additional restrooms! 1 somewhat convenient restroom for the entire beach area and pool is terrible. No wonder people choose to relieve themselves wherever it is convenient. Gross!

I went there for my birthday solo. Airport Transfer was smooth and very quick. Staff made me feel so special and welcomed. My room was big, clean and away from noises. Lots of food variety for each meal. Fresh and delicious. On my birthday night staff brought me a cake with a candle and 6 of them started singing for me and left me a small cake in my room with a card to surprise me after. Service is excellent from front desk to cleaners to restaurant staff to bar staff, entertainment staff all are very nice, kind and respectful. You’ll feel welcomed. The entire hotel is Super clean. They are always cleaning the facility. They keep offering different kinds of drinks at the beach. Food and drinks are excellent. Coffee at the lobby cafeteria is amazing, I was obsessed by it. Entertainment staff are supper excellent and very professional. My favourite ones are Andress, Diana and the rest, I just can’t remember all the names. Every night I had a blast even though I was by myself. I recommend Rui Palace for your vacation. I gotta say I was impressed.

We had an amazing week stay. The staff and service are amazing! Especially the bartenders and our server Pastor who always made sure we were well taken care of around the pools! The property wasn’t jammed packed like some of the other sister resorts we walked over to check out. It had a nice and mellow crowd. But if you’re looking for a more up beat party it was only a short walk away. There was a very nice selection of food and drink that was always on par. Would definitely go back and highly recommend!!

The facilities were very clean and well maintained. The entire staff was terrific. We loved the beach, in particular the beautiful breeze coming off the water. I’d say the food was fine. Nothing special. Drinks were consistently low on alcohol. You might consider bringing your own if drinking is a big part of your holiday.

This was our first experience staying at a RIU property. We did enjoy our stay. Food was pretty good, but wish there was an a la carte option for lunch. I am not a fan of buffets. The property is dated. Things like noticing seat cushions at the buffet having rips and the stuffing peeking out, pools missing lots of tiles, as well as cockroaches in the room were not so pleasant. The resort was noisy at night in terms of people being loud in the hallways at all hours of the night. The room phone rang randomly in the middle of the night twice the first night, waking us up with no one on the line. We ended up unplugging it. Staff was very pleasant, no complaints there. Food was good, actually better than the Dreams Playa Mujeres that we stayed at last year. My biggest complaint is the lack of seats at the beach and pool. People should not be allowed to claim seats and then leave for extended periods of times. At several times, my kids and I could not find seats so we resorted to putting our belongings on the pavement or sand. When we checked out at 4am to meet our shuttle the lobby was completely dark and eerie. I like well lit places. Overall I felt very safe there and loved the beach. Very little sargassum. It was a good trip and we enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are big, comfortable beds, nice decoration, nice views. The staff is amazing and so nice. The Property is beautiful and we loved all the shows, games and activities. The food is really good. The only thing that was diss appointing was the Hotel Credit. It is really a scam. It is not hotel credit, but rather discount coupons. You have to spend 20 times the price of the coupon to get a 10$ discount. If you want a massage at the spa… you hace to spend 200$ to get 10$ off.. THAT US NOT HOTEL CREDIT!

My family and I came during spring break, so hotels were really expensive, so the price in comparison was decent. We stayed at Riu Palace Mexico knowing we would not spend a ton of time at the hotel. The hotel is ok. Its not great; its not terrible. The food is mediocre at best. From the buffet to the specialty dining, it was not great and many times, not even good. The steakhouse was the best. We did not try the Italian restaurant. The staff was nice, but service in the restaurants was slow. Also, we asked for towels and waited over an hour. The rooms were dated and the electric switches were weird. In some cases you needed a weird combination of switches to turn on a light. There are 5 pools, but they are very small. Lastly, the entertainment was not a highlight. It was poorly communicated and subpar compared to our previous experiences at resorts in the area. Now for the good, the staff was pleasant and attentive outside of the sit down restaurants. The beach was large, lovely and well maintained. The white party looked fun, but we did not go. It was very clean. The bed was comfortable and the rooms spacious. The grounds are beautiful and the check in and out process was quick. You can visit the surrounding Riu hotels. We did check out the pool and lunch buffet at Yucatan. It was not much different than ours. Overall, it was ok. I wouldn't stay here again, but would recommend it if the price is decent and you plan on being away from the resort for a good part of the trip.
