Tres décevant.
Ensemble décevant au regard du prix très élevé. Certes, l’hôtel a une jolie histoire et a connu un bel âge d’or, mais il est vieillissant. La vue de la chambre comme du restaurant étaient splendides, et le petit déjeuner offrait un choix très varié. En revanche, la chambre était très vieillotte, la porte fermait mal, la fenêtre calfeutrée au scotch… Et la propreté très moyenne: poil dans la douche, dessous du lit pas nettoyé, moquette pas aspirée, couverts pas nickels, projections de peinture sur les murs, paquet de gâteaux entamé… Le repas du réveillon, malgré le prix, n’était pas d’une grande qualité non plus, et les serveurs du petit déjeuner peu souriants. Bref, nous avons été très déçus pour le prix que nous avons payé.

Unfortunately the hotel is so huge and areas seem underused and feels as if it is not busy. It makes it feel cold and less welcoming. Obviously a restoration and development project is in the pipeline but meanwhile I think they should condense areas and make it feel cosier. The bar menu is poor.

Lovely 3 night stay. The hotel is super convenient to walk into town plus some local attractions. The room was very spacious and the bar lounge area a nice place to relax in during the evening. One improvement would be the swimming pool arrangements. We experienced many occasions when there were swimmers doing lengths. All well and good, but they’d often frown and sigh when my daughter and I were just using the pool for some fun. Need to rope off an area so both can cohabitate happily

GREAT LOCATION* It was a small problem at the check-in as I was placed in smaller rooms than the one I'd booked but the manager was good and sorted out the problem. The first night was perfect, the other 3 nights Dogs barked early morning and afternoon. Children running above my room. The rooms looked rather tired but clean.... No fridges in the room. Parking is very expensive £34 for the 4 nights.

Lovely hotel, beautiful views was lovely sitting in the bar area watching the sea. Staff were absolutely lovely, friendly and helpful. Gorgeous seating areas and feel to hotel. Rooms were a bit dated but added to the charm in a way. Pool was smaller than expected. Didn't expect to pay for parking on top of paying to stay which we think should be included. Overall lovely stay though and would stay again.

The staff were all very helpful knowledgeable and have our ( the customer) best interests at heart. Special thanks to the housekeeping staff and the two ladies in the bar making food . Very polite and focused . Especially as the one lady wasent that old . Good level of maturity.

The staff were more than helpful in all respects. Accommodation just what we needed - spectacular view across Torbay, comfortable bed, spacious bathroom. Room service (for our arrival lunch) was good, as was the afternoon tea. High quality in lots of small ways - all of which add up to a great stay, even for just one night.

We upgraded to a suite and it was well worth it, such a lovely big space and a very big bed which was so comfortable. We did however have our dog with us and it did not stipulate on Expedia which rooms were dog friendly so we went ahead and booked a suite to be told on check in that dogs aren't allowed in the suites, this needs to be made clear on booking. Luckily they agreed that our dog could stay in the suite but I think that's only because we had upgraded to their Master Suite and it was my Husbands birthday. We ordered room service for our breakfast and it was adequate enough but wasn't amazing. The car parking is £8.50 a day or £18 a day if you want to park in the garage. (we opted for the cheaper option and it was fine - there were always plenty of spaces)

Staff lovely and checkin easy. Great sized room but couldn’t go out on balcony because of maintenance. Room service limited and no menu in room. Very old fashioned tired hotel and definitely needs a revamp. My whole group for work stayed so not just my opinion. Room service quality was good. And room view incredible. Also the bed was comfy. Bathrooms look like something out of the 1980s

Lovely hotel only 5 minutes walk from the harbour area. It's on the hill above the harbour, so there's an incline to get to it, but that means the views over Torquay are amazing. Staff were very nice and super helpful. Spa facilities are a little bit dated, but it looks like they are currently being updated. Breakfast buffet was amazing.. I'd definitely recommend this hotel.

was upgraded which was nice , the room was large and had all the normal accessories. unfortunately i was ill and the first night i stayed on top of the bed but when i pulled the sheets back their was a stain and another part a brown faded area on the end of the sheet . i didn’t complain as was not really well enough i slept on the one sheet so didn’t get fully in bed. overall the positioning (views) were outstanding from the dining and lounge areas, and staff were very helpful.

Old fashioned charm
Old fashioned hotel with charm, but a little faded. Helpful staff, good food, room was too warm, but staff were quick to get maintenance to switch off radiator.

There were distinct areas in the Hotel where the heating was not working. Walking through the final door before we got to our room the contrast was very clear. We needed to get a portable heater installed which worked but should not have been necessary.

Great location overlooking Torbay, but disappointed to be told on arrival that the Spa was shut... why not tell me when I booked? Bedrooms were cold with central heating only on a couple of hours a day so extra heaters were provided. No doubt the place is better in season.
