« A classic 18 century coaching in with Ultra modern facilities and Michelin level food the staff are really helpful and can’t do too much for us helping us tune our TV to ensure that we had ability to watch the World Cup games. The food is a different level to coaching and could be a Michelin star restaurant the court outstanding and the quantity very generous. « We thought the hotel in general and the room were amazing. We have stayed in nice hotels in different parts of the world and this was up there. The design touches all around the hotel were outstanding. What let it down (and why we reduced a star) was being charged for parking (it was not a cheap booking) and the lack of EV charging points. »

« We came back late from a long walk in the Lakes and realize arriving in our room that they gave us a room with no blind or curtain !!!! We rang the Reception at 11pm they said someone was coming but nobody showed up. The following morning when we wanted to record a formal claim the receptionist just told us "sorry" It is a shame !!! Avoid this hotel ! You pay a high rate for the location but the rest is shameful !! »

« We highly recommend Vince and Shirley’s guesthouse. The room was immaculate and nicely decorated, fully equipped, great bedding. The breakfast was very well cooked and generously served, in a pretty dining room overlooking a well kept garden. The guest house is located 15 mn walking distance to the village Center, with an access through a lovely park with a small beach and a great view. « The reason I haven’t scored 5 is that Expedia sold us a room that had issues with noise / cooking smells as it’s above the kitchen and is noisey and smelly when the staff are cooking. We stayed in a room named Helvellyn and Expedia didn’t state any issues with any rooms. If we had booked direct with the queens head it details the room helvellyn as having issues with noise etc due to it’s proximity to the kitchen.
