« Free parking and views of lake from the dining room were very good. Half board - the dinner was good but overpriced so the 10% service charge worked out extortionate. NOT GOOD We were put in a small loft room with a difficult door to open and a tight stair access- the room and whole property needs a lick of paint and could be cleaner. Location too far from bowness - walking into town is 20minutes but on both roads which had no pavement so very dangerous. Wouldn’t stay here again . »

« A hidden gem, on arrival some areas feel a little dated this all helps with the ambience so don’t be put off. Lovely ladies very helpful at breakfast, choice amazing and well cooked. « We came for a one night stay, two adults, one year old and a dog (one of the only places locally which allowed dogs!). The hotel looks beautiful as you drive up the winding driveway. We were warmly greeted by the receptionist and who checked us in smoothly. We had booked a four poster bed room as it had more space. « Hillthwaite feels staying in a family home rather than a hotel and the warm welcome certainly matches. The room was spacious and bedding extremely comfortable, which was perfect for a mini break in the area. Extra points for the bathtub (in addition to a full shower)! Breakfast was excellent and the staff is lovely. »

« Great location . Friendly staff. Good breakfast. But I was annoyed at having to pay £15 parking in what is a public car park so difficult to find a car spot. I was insulted to have to pay £15 for half litre of still water to take to room, for these 2 reasons We wouldn’t stay there again. »
