Thanks for your review Francois. In response to your comments and as I have stated in the past; I do not have any control over the climate of Portugal's Silver Coast nor its insect life. You are incorrect in your description of the nearest shop. There is a supermarket in Serra De Rey; the village near to the apartment and the beach is a twenty minute walk away. The apartment has recently been decorated throughout and I'm not sure what you mean when you said it "needed a refresh". This is a vague comment with no examples or detail given. You complained to me during your stay that the apartment was "very dirty;" but I was assured that housekeeping spent 6.5 hours cleaning the apartment prior to your arrival. When I messaged you to arrange for housekeeping to come and clean the apartment; you said you didn't want them to come. Please consider the impact of hastily written and inaccurate reviews. Hi Christina Thank you for your review. The review you have left is not great and Id like to go into some detail of it if I can! I'm very shocked to hear that your tumble dryer didn't work for eight days. Did you contact my property manager immediately you encountered the problem to resolve this? Historically it is very unusual for my property manager to be so delayed in organising any repairs that are necessary. As I am currently at the apartment I have examined all the towels that have been returned by housekeeping and I do not find any that are "very badly damaged" as you describe . In terms of tea towels that have tears in them, as a purely functional item, if tea towels are clean and ironed I do not see this as an issue worthy of placing on an online review. If you were offended by a tea towel with holes in it; I would have been perfectly happy for you to discard it and select another one. I'm afraid I cannot comment on the dirty rug that you encountered and I'm sorry if this impacted your stay but the rugs I have seen in the apartment are clean. The humidity you encountered in the apartment is due to the apartment's proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and therefore de humidifiers need to be emptied regularly by guests. You'll appreciate that I do not have any control over the climate of Portugal's West Coast. I'm afraid I do not think your review is either fair and balanced or reflective of the other reviews I have received of my apartment (which is also my home) Best Wishes, Clare Askwith

Dear David, I have read your review and just want to clarify a few points. Unfortunately Clare can not be “removed” as I am the owner of the property which is also my home. As you will have seen, I generally receive very positive reviews and try hard to make sure my property is in good condition. Occasionally however, equipment (fridges, tvs, ovens) break and this is an unavoidable part of life. It was unfortunate that the fridge was not working during your visit and I asked housekeeping to visit ASAP on the Monday following Easter Sunday which is a public holiday in a Portugal. The information I received was that the fridge was very full and had been turned up to its highest level. It was also reported to me that a new part was required but would take several days to arrive. I was asked to advise you to turn the fridge off overnight and back in again the following morning as this would help it get back up to temperature. When I advised you of this your tone became threatening and I decided it was best not to communicate with you again. The fridge is not “on its way out” and is now fully functional. If you feel that a compensation is required, please speak to VRBO on this matter and I will arrange an appropriate refund but would prefer that you do not contact me directly again. Clare Askwith
