Secluded cottage
The house is truly a cottage tucked away in a peaceful place. Such charm and comfort. Only drawback is we did not have more time to sit and enjoy this little slice of solitude. Definitely would stay again.

Excellent Sierra Getaway!
Really enjoyed our three night stay at the Cottage Retreat. We had a little bit of everything weather-wise during our short mid-April trip (even a surprise snow shower!) but the cottage was the perfect place in all conditions. Between the hot tub, living room fireplace, outdoor fire pit, covered porch and hiking paths with great views--there was a nice place to enjoy all kinds of weather right on the property. We were traveling with our outdoor-loving pup and this place was paradise for her. We had so much fun walking the easy hiking trails on-property. And the area right around the house had lots of relatively open yard to play fetch and romp around without getting lost in the brush. The nearby town of Mariposa has lots of great local places to dine and shop. Appreciated the restaurant recs provided by the host. And Yosemite is, of course, amazing. We hope to return to the Cottage Retreat soon for another trip!

Beautiful home in a gorgeous location
We had a phenomenal time visiting Mariposa and Yosemite, and this location was perfect for two of our party to get engaged in the park (to each other, of course). We had a lovely time and would easily recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting! The hosts had great recommendations for places to go in town and clear driving directions, as well as ample supplies and clear guidelines. Thanks for a great time !

We absolutely loved our time and the Cottage Retreat! The home was clean, everything was accurate to the listing, and the cleanup process was very reasonable. I highly recommend this location if you want to really get away from everything and enjoy the peace and quiet.

A perfect home during our California adventure
My wife and I travelling with our eldest and his partner were looking for a base of operations where we could explore Yosemite and Mariposa County for a few days. This was the perfect location. Comfortable beds, everything we needed to cook a few meals at home, and a perfect away from it all setting. We saw probably 100 quail over the three days (yes, I'm sure some were repeats) as well as a small herd of deer. The stars at night were stunning! It's not just anywhere you can look up and see the Milky Way laid out from one horizon to the other. Thanks for a great stay.

Clean, lovely property
This is a truly idyllic and lovely space near Yosemite. The rooms were spacious, the kitchen well-appointed and the outdoor space is absolutely stunning. We had one tiny wrinkle in our trip when we discovered the hot water had gone out, and within an hour, someone was at the property fixing it. The property managers were responsive and communicative, which was a tremendous relief and allowed us to focus on enjoying this property after a long day at Yosemite.

We couldn’t be happier with our experience at the Cottage retreat! The property was clean and the communication and accommodation’s by owner was exceptional. We were celebrating my husband’s military retirement, our 15 year anniversary, and my birthday in one weekend. We made so many memories and couldn’t be happier!

Yosemite Home Base
The cottage was perfect for our family (two adults plus four teenagers). It was quiet and clean, with very comfortable beds and a really good supply of hot water. It had everything we needed as a home base for our Yosemite adventure! There were great views from outdoor seating on three sides, and we loved watching for wildlife in the early mornings and evening. It was really hot outside, but the central air kept the house very cool. I can't wait until we come back- we will definitely stay again.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Cottage Retreat! The home was beautifully appointed. It had everything we could need and was incredibly comfortable. It's probably the cleanest VRBO I've ever stayed at. The property was beautiful and we enjoyed walking around the paths and streams on site. It's perfect for a quiet get away, which we wanted, but also located with amenities not too far from the cottage. We drove to Yosemite one day and it took us around an hour to get there (beautiful drive). It's only about 25min from a larger shopping area with groceries and restaurants and about 10 min from the cute town of Mariposa. We ate breakfast every day at the Sportsman's café (it was soo good), just two miles up the road. The hosts were easy to work with and made sure we had all the information needed to make our stay wonderful. We will definitely come back!

Spring Break Retreat
Well appointed cottage with plenty of cozy areas to enjoy inside and out. We are always thankful for hosts who allow our dog to travel with us. Together we enjoyed nature walks by day and campsites by night. My kids are hard to impress these days & this place was a hit with everyone.

WOW! What a lovely house that came with every amenity that you could possibly need. Everything was clearly remodeled and yet it still had some old school charms, right down to the old fashioned yet fully functioning handset phone. The property is very private and has plenty to explore, even in the rain. On our last day there, we even spotted some deer. We hope to be back soon!

We had a terrific 5 day stay at this beautiful retreat! The cottage and property are truly exceptional. We were 2 parents with 2 adult children and 2 dogs that were delighted with the luxurious space that was well appointed with many thoughtful touches and everything we could need. A magical place that prompted home cooking, board games by the fire and wonderful hikes with the dogs. It is an easy day trip to Yosemite and a great home base to explore Mariposa and the gold country. Ted as your host is above and beyond. We have been to the Yosemite area many times and this is truly a gem!!! 10 stars!!! Thank you for sharing your very special retreat.

One of our favorite rentals ever. Clean, cozy, with everything we needed. Excellent communication with the owner. Private spot but not too far from the cute town of Mariposa, about an hour from Yosemite entrances. Hope to go back someday!

Absolutely amazing!
This place was plenty for myself and my husband. We enjoyed quiet mornings on the porch drinking coffee and quiet sunsets as well. We couldn’t have been happier with this property. The pictures just can’t capture the feel of the place. It’s rustic yet very modern but more than anything feels like home. Just lovely. We hope to be back next fall.

A cottage with so much to offer.
This trip was one we will all remember and this VRBO was a part of it. Close enough to town, but off the beat and path that you felt like there was so much privacy. The house is actually quite roomy. Very clean and user friendly. A little drive to Yosemite, but worth it. The host is great with his communication. I would highly recommend this property!

Perfect Yosemite home base
We stayed here for a week while we explored Yosemite National Park. We absolutely LOVED this cute little cabin. Beds were comfortable. It was so nice to be away from the city and away from other people. You truly feel like you’ve escaped to the great outdoors. Star gazing at night was also epic. Unfortunately we had to evacuate the area a couple days early due to the Oak fire in the area. But Ted still refunded us for those two days which he didn’t have to do but we sincerely appreciate it. Connie was great to work with too. Highly recommend this place. We would take our family back in a heartbeat.

This was the best experience! Our communication with Ted and Connie was excellent, and the cottage is absolutely darling. It was so comfortable and suited our family of 5 perfectly. Connie’s restaurant recos we’re spot on, and she was a delight. If you want a well appointed, adorable place with tons of privacy, good wifi, and an easy 45 minute drive to El Portal, you should definitely stay here. I really can’t say enough good things :)

PERFECT AND AMAZING COTTAGE
This cottage is such an amazing find! We were staying at a property in Fish Camp, however, we were forced to leave due to the impending Washburn fire in Yosemite. We were able to secure this cottage last minute and boy are we happy that we did! We 100% would stay here again. This little gem is just adorable. This is by far the cleanest VRBO I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in many. The property has the charm of an old cottage or cabin, however, upgrades that make it modern in just the right ways. We saw so much wildlife just outside the doors and windows of the property. We woke up each morning to a family of rabbits, including two little babies, to baby quails and their parents scampering around the property, and much more. While it is not far from other cabins, it 100% has a secluded feel to it and you do not see other properties from the cottage itself. It felt very private and there were no neighbors right on top of us. The views from the cottage are awesome. We grilled each night on the grill out back, and the back deck is a perfect place to sit and have morning coffee while watching the sun rise and the animals scurry about. This is a truly amazing hidden gem. Do not hesitate to book this cabin! It is a great find. Ted, the owner, was sweet as could be and wonderful to work with. He has excellent and timely communication. We were greeted with a super sweet personalized card, a bottle of wine, and a bag of locally sourced (and delicious) coffee. The cottage is impeccably decorated and beyond cute. The bed in the master was super duper comfy. Oh and the cottage has AC! Which is a rare find in this area and that was great. We used this home as our base camp for our Yosemite trip. It is about a 45 minute drive from the West entrance (BEAUTIFUL DRIVE). It was perfect! The town of Mariposa is close for any fuel or food needs. The kitchen was stocked as described as well. It truly is a wonderful place. Secluded and private feel, beautiful views, super duper clean, very charming, close to Yosemite, comfy beds, great host, and the list goes on! Thank you so much Ted for sharing your amazing place with us! We will be back!

A peaceful and relaxing place in the nature.
We stayed four nights at the Cottage Retreat. Our two grand daughters enjoyed having their own bedroom, with two separate beds.. The kitchen was big enough for cooking, and moving around. We as a family had a good time, and making fire at night, looking at the stars, and having marshmallows with kids was enjoyable. Overall we had a great time at Cottage Retreat. Our host Ted, was very friendly, and helpful..

Wonderful cabin in a very remote area. The cabin feels rustic but with just the right amount of modern touches to make it very comfortable. We and our dogs enjoyed exploring the property and relaxing in the quiet. Be sure to plan your groceries ahead of time as shopping and restaurants in the area are extremely limited.

My wife and I enjoyed four nights at this beautiful cabin and property. Check-in and communication w/ Connie was excellent. We used the BBQ each night and enjoyed sitting out by the fire pit with a cocktail after daily visits to Yosemite. So glad we stayed at this property vs. inside the park, the opportunity to make meals at "home" and evening campfires added greatly to our Yosemite visit. We would highly recommend and will for sure stay here again on our next visit to Yosemite. Tip - we found it a lot faster and more scenic drive to go via 140 into Yosemite Valley vs. going via Oakhurst route.

Little slice of heaven
It's a secluded location. The drive is charming. You end up on a dirt road and then there's the cute, renovated cabin. We wanted to "get away from it all" and we did. It wasn't summer so we could light a fire outside and have smores. We were permitted to bring our dogs and they loved the new world to smell/explore. The cabin has been updated well and everyting works. Connie, the manager, was kind to allow us to call and answer questions. The drive to Yosemite wasn't too bad and the kids loved the park. Amazing experience.

This place is a gem! Lovely welcome with coffee and wine and easy access to Yosemite. Our pup loved exploring the trails on the property and there was tons of space for the kids to play and explore. Beds were comfy, kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to cook! The stars on a clear night were a wonderful experience for us coming from Los Angeles. Highly recommend!

Lovely Cabin with everything you will need!
The Cabin was beautiful - clean and modern inside. There was plenty of firewood at the fire pit outside and a welcoming bottle of wine and coffee when we arrived. The house was easy to get into - the road up to the cabin is a bit rough - but if you are in an SUV or truck you will be fine. It was nice to sit at night around the firepit and relax. Will definitely come back!
