Very noisy

Publié le 8 avr. 2016
Les + : It was clean and well maintained.
Les - : Soundproofing.
Situation : Having heard great things about the gas lamp district, was disappointed. It was a bit dirtier and seedier than I expected.
Hotel was nice. Staff was friendly. However, we were awakened all night by the constant sound of sirens. We were unable to sleep straight through. Would not stay there again.

Elegance On Broadway

Publié le 26 mars 2016
Classic French Provincial elegance in downtown San Diego. Spacious rooms, attentive staff. Fine dining in the lobby level restaurant; cocktails and jazz in the bar; sumptuous Sunday Brunch in Le Fountainbleu on the second floor. Piano music by Tom Barabas in the lobby and at brunch. A delightful place to stay.

Very nice & fancy. Old Hollywood Glam

Publié le 22 mars 2016
Les + : I loved everything about The Westgate Hotel. Absolutely amazing!
Les - : I didn't care for the $36/day valet parking charge. The rate should be lower or even free if your a guest at the hotel.
Situation : So much to do nearby, Mall, restaurants, nightlife all within walking distance. A short drive to check out the breweries & the harbor
This hotel was so nice & fancy. I would rate it as a 5 star. I was amazed by how nice the hotel staff treated us & how beautiful the hotel was. It was very fancy, old Hollywood glam style. After we checked in we received a knock at our room door & there was a gentleman with a VIP package for us which included gourmet chocolate balls, sparkling lemonade in a ice bucket, a card, champagne glasses on a very nice platter. The room & bathroom were very spacious. It is a quiet area 1 block from the GasLamp quarter walking distance to the mall, all restaurants, & night life. Their Sunday Brunch Buffet is amazing. The quality of the food is Grade A. With all alcohol beverages included it is well worth the $50/person. I would definitely stay here again!

Nice hotel

Publié le 21 mars 2016
This was a beautiful hotel. Their website was misleading that there was self-parking--we had to wait for valet. The room had a great view. I was worried since our room was right off the elevators, but there was a separate door to go through to get to our room. However, it was still very loud outside and we were on the 12th floor! The pillows were uncomfortable so I had trouble sleeping, but I would come back and try again--just bring my own pillows.

It's ok

Publié le 26 févr. 2016
It was ok more for like the elderly, hotel shower had a little rust and the bathroom wall paper was peeling off, pool area was ok but needs upgrades. Tv was small for a 4 star hotel. But besides that it was ok.

Wonderful hotel in the Gas Lamp District

Publié le 26 févr. 2016
We had a nice 3-day visit in San Diego. We had two rooms at the Westgate and both were beyond our expectations. There is a harpist in the lobby every afternoon, and we enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of the hotel. We used the rooftop pool and jacuzzi, which were beautiful and quiet as well.

Peaceful and Elegant Business Home base for SD

Publié le 12 févr. 2016
Les + : Everything
Les - : Make the location of concierge a little more clear or point it out at checkin.
Situation : Downtown. Close to everything you need or want.
A quiet, peaceful elegant place with a stately feel. Not unnecessarily luxurious and not formal. Just a spacious, aesthetically pleasing hotel with just enough staff to take care of anything you need while still leaving you to feel as though you have the run of the place. Which is what I felt like. Quiet and productive--people went about their business--whether a group that was there for a business gathering, a group of sisters and their little ones in town to celebrate a birthday or me, a lawyer on business for three days needing a place to retreat to for preparation, relaxation and rest. The room service for breakfast at 6 am was great--same server each day and on my third morning she actually called me to see if I was ready for breakfast. That's super. Maybe they were slow this week and could pay extra attention--after all, its a big hotel, or maybe she was just awesome. Or maybe this hotel knows something about hospitality. Same experience at the restaurant--great food for a dinner and friendly spot for meeting with clients. And the hostess--April, was just terrific. Again, very quiet there so maybe it was a slow week, or maybe they are just good at this. Room was large and housekeeping was flawless. Visited the outside pool twice. Spotless, running track, some outside equipment (didn't use the indoor gym but looked functional). Ran twice, swam a few laps. Stole an hour of sun. Accomplished all of my business objectives. What more can you ask from a hotel? Excellent.
