An unexpected surprise

Publié le 1 déc. 2016
This hotel was a last-minute indulgence, and I'' so glad we found this place. It is opulent, and yet cozy. The staff is formal and yet warm and caring. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. I'd stay again in a heartbeat.

Les + : Clean, close to everything I wanted to see. most in walking distance.
Les - : The mandatory facility fee and parking fee lowered.
Situation : Across the street was a park and a 4 story mall. Within a few blocks is the GasLight district with any food choice and more shopping.
The hotel was an excellent choice. The staff were very nice and accommodating. I was able to check in two hours early, which was a plus.

Nice elegant historical hotel

Publié le 21 nov. 2016
Les + : brunch and overall feeling of the interior décor. Oh and also the workout deck is super awesome with cool pool that's body temperature
Les - : well it's an old hotel, so lack of modern feeling.. it's a personal choice
Situation : Horton Plaza, Gaslamp District
We loved the location of the hotel, right across street from Horton Plaza, and one block away from Gaslamp district. Hotel itself is really fancy, but shows its age. If you're into old hotels, this could be your hotel. Very clear, staff were very helpful.

4 Night Stay in November 2016

Publié le 8 nov. 2016
Les + : Hotel is perfectly located in downtown San Diego. Easy to get to almost any area attraction and several within walking distance. Swimming pool and exercise area outdoors was especially enjoyable. Room was very clean and offered a great view of the bay and area bridges.
Les - : This hotel as noted is downtown. So light sleepers need to be aware of this as nightly noise can be overwhelming. Sirens from emergency vehicles, spirited partiers leaving the Gaslamp District and just the overall street noise is difficult to sleep through. We had a beautiful room located on the 14th floor but even at this elevated hieght we could hear a lot do noise at night. The hotel would benefit from replacing the current sliding glass doors with more sound proof (newer) ones as this would help mitigate the noise. Lastly, we didn't figure this out until the morning of our departure but the light in the hallway between rooms can be turned off. If you don't turn this off, light penetrates the room around the entire door making it hard again for light sleepers.
Situation : We visited the SAN Diego Zoo, Balaboa Park, USS Midway and walked the beach between Imperial beach and Silver Sands Beach. All an easy Uber ride away
