Very unfriendly hotel stuff

Les + : Nothing really, I stayed there because most of the Great Wall Run marathon runner stayed at this hotel.
Les - : Everything
Situation : Location is great, that's all.
Arrived at the hotel with my printed confirmation and the receptionist could not find my booking and literally said sorry, leave. I refused and I had to call Expedia an international call to find out why the hotel didn't have my booking only to find out that the took the wrong date and it was their mistake. The bed is horrible, they don't change sheets, I had a little make-up on the pillow that was there for 3 days and when I was checking out they asked me to pay US$10 for that little spot. I went back and washed it off and they still wanted to charge me, so I just paid the $10. I was not allowed to wait for my taxi in the foyer unless I was buying a drink, WIFI unreliable, rooms pretty hot, they turn off the A/C, communication barrier, non speak or understand English, just a horrible experience staying there. I would not recommend anyone to stay in that hotel.

Isolated hotel away from all tourist attractions

No English speakers employed. Communication barrier inhibits all effective communication. Employees cannot help with anything. Room keys stopped working four times in 10 days. Gym was always locked--you had to have someone unlock it every time you wanted to use it. Staff had to escort you to the elevator to get you to the floor the gym was on-your key only allows you access to the floor you are staying on. No ability to control the rooms climate control system. Had to open and close the window at night to maintain a livable temp while 30 degrees outside. Restaurants were not open during posted times. Not much around the area to see besides a few restaurants and a 7-eleven. Intersection outside hotel has crazy foot and vehicle traffic with horns going off constantly. On a positive note, the housekeeping staff were awesome. Hard workers and very in touch with the folks staying in the rooms they were assigned to clean.

No staff speak english and the beds are hard as cement! Toilet didn't work, mold in the shower, filthy carpet

Nice in town mid priced Beijing hotel

Les + : OK for the price.
Les - : Food. English speaking staff.
Situation : I was there for business. Didn't notice anything nearby.
Absolutely no one on the hotel staff spoke any English.

Front desk staff hides behind ignorance of English

Les + : The rooms were comfortable, though not luxurious. The location was convenient to transportation and dining, though distant from tourist attractions.
Les - : Train front-desk staff in English so they can respond to customer issues, instead of just shrugging their shoulders.
Situation : Close to subway station and varied restaurants, and ring road, if you dare to drive here
The front-desk staff wanted to charge me for my room even after I showed they my (English language) Expedia receipt, and I had to enlist another guest to translate "prepaid" to them to get my room. They had 24x7 guards with Blue Tooth communications at the lobby entrance to the elevators, suggesting they perceive a big problem with visitors to rooms. Each time I reported my inability to access wi-fi in the lobby, they shrugged their shoulders, suggesting they didn't understand, or didn't care.
