Right across the beach, food is eh but free breakfast on ocean drive is free breakfast! Staff are very nice and helpful. Overall, I would stay here again when im back in miami

3 Days in South Beach

Les + : Very charming Hotel with nice updates.
Situation : Nice and close to the beach, just a short walk across the park and you are there.
We only stayed 3 days while waiting for a cruise, hotel is older, but maintained/upgraded quite well. Staff were great as was the food. Parking on the street is expensive, but there is covered parking less than 2 short blocks away for only $1/hour.

The rooms are very sparse. No desk no drawers - tiny bedside table. Otherwise very nice hotel. Good breakfast and bar.

Super cute hotel with a friendly and helpful front desk. The rooms were clean, kind of small, but totally doable since you're only really sleeping in them. Only downfall is parking but that's all of SB. Find a municiple lot for $1 and hour and it's worth it!

Vintage hotel close to the beach

This hotel is very old and because of this the rooms are really small. That is my only complaint. The rooms here are cutely decorated, spotless and in perfect working order. There is a mini fridge. And it's super close to the beach. At night it comes alive with so many good restaurants and some fantastic live music. I would stay here again.

Les + : Great location - close to the beach, dining, and shopping
Les - : Rooms were noisy; it was easy to hear outside noise (from neighboring restaurants and clubs) while trying to go to bed at night.
Situation : The beach is right across the street. There is also a park, walking trail, volleyball, bike rentals, restaurants, shopping, etc within a short walk.
We were staying for one night in Miami and were looking for a hotel that was close to restaurants and the beach. This hotel is in the art deco area of Miami and has a very unique and eclectic vibe (i.e. blue lighting in hallways, unique rooms, etc). The Penguin has great beach access - it is right across the street, so it is very convenient. It is also very close to several restaurants, shopping, a park, bike rentals, etc. The location was ideal for our group. We were a little disappointed in two aspects. First, rooms were smaller than I was expecting, so it was a little tight for our group of four. However, since we were only there for one night, it was okay. If you are staying longer, it might get a little too small. Second, we weren't anticipating the extra resort fee, which is about $10.50/person. This covers access to wifi, a complimentary drink from the bar, continental breakfast, and use of a beach towel. This isn't a huge expense, but was just a surprise. The staff was friendly and held our luggage for us since we arrived before our rooms were ready. The night manager packaged up bagels and bananas for us since we had to check out before the continental breakfast was available.

Hotel is located in a lively part of South beach. It has breakfast included with your stay. Parking is only valet because area is too busy and it costs over $40 per day

Dear Anonymous, We greatly appreciate you for taking the time taken in leaving us with your comments. There are a few other options for parking. We do have valet that is at the hotel. It is $40 a day. That way you can go in and out as much as you would like tell noon the next day. If you do not wish to pay the $40 per day for valet we do have the parking garage that is down the street 2 blocks as you stated. Our front desk has been trained to let all our guest know about the options.

Room right across from the door to the kitchen....door slamming and people talking early morning for breakfast and late night too. Room 106 do not use for guest

Great location and awesome room

Stayed for 3 nights with one other before we left for San Juan. Upon pulling up, was so thrilled because of the location and style of the building. Didn't know exactly what to expect from the pictures alone. Walked in to a friendly staff and easy check-in. Buzzing with energy, we couldn't stop smiling as we walked through a serene blue lit hallway to our room. It was so simple and clean and lovely with the botanical adorned wall. Huge mirrors which open the room up since it is quite small (standard one bed room). Bed was great, bathroom simplistic and clean. Wait staff and bar was great until the longer we stayed there the less friendly they got. To the point they would no longer greet us as we entered or left. I understand. It's Ocean Drive and everything is money but you also work at a hotel so don't take your already paying guests for granted. Breakfast was fresh and an okay size. But, I can truly say I would recommend to someone who understands how Ocean Drive operates and also appreciates an aesthetically beautiful and clean room to stay in on your busy Miami Beach trip.

Terrible service and food, nobody helped with the luggage, the style si horrible.
