We were staying for one night in Miami and were looking for a hotel that was close to restaurants and the beach. This hotel is in the art deco area of Miami and has a very unique and eclectic vibe (i.e. blue lighting in hallways, unique rooms, etc). The Penguin has great beach access - it is right across the street, so it is very convenient. It is also very close to several restaurants, shopping, a park, bike rentals, etc. The location was ideal for our group. We were a little disappointed in two aspects. First, rooms were smaller than I was expecting, so it was a little tight for our group of four. However, since we were only there for one night, it was okay. If you are staying longer, it might get a little too small. Second, we weren't anticipating the extra resort fee, which is about $10.50/person. This covers access to wifi, a complimentary drink from the bar, continental breakfast, and use of a beach towel. This isn't a huge expense, but was just a surprise.
The staff was friendly and held our luggage for us since we arrived before our rooms were ready. The night manager packaged up bagels and bananas for us since we had to check out before the continental breakfast was available.

Thank you for taking the time to post the review. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us. Be informed, that we will be renovating our rooms and lobby area in the coming weeks. This should fix the small rooms, and noise from surrounding area.
