2 beautiful barn conversions in a very quiet hamlet...but with some of the best beaches in the country available on 3 points of the compass. The barns make an awesome holiday location and are perfect for large family get togethers or 2 families. The barns are situated opposite each other across the pretty cobbled courtyard. Great Barn is a very large 3 double bedroom barn conversion that is made for entertaining. There is an oak beamed and oak floored reception room with a dining table able to accommodate up to 12 for large scale entertaining. There is also an enormous lounge. Both have wood burning stoves and are full of character. Middle Barn is just across the courtyard and also contains a very large reception room with a woodburning stove. Middle Barn has 2 double bedrooms with a further mezzanine level that can sleep 2 children if required. Both properties have 2 modern large bathrooms each and kitchens with everything you need. A feature of the property is the pretty shared cobbled courtyard. There are separate decking areas for barbeques and chilling outside with a small garden area.
By having both barns together large extended families can get together without being on top of each other...both barns are very spacious and by having them each across the courtyard from the other more privacy can be gained if required.
The room layouts are as follows :
Great Barn
Master Bedroom with Superking bed and ensuite
Double Bedroom with double bed
Double Bedroom with 2 single beds
Middle Barn
Master Bedroom with Kingsize bed and ensuite
Double Bedroom with 2 single beds
Mezzanine Bedroom with Double bed
There are parking bays for 2 cars opposite so the courtyard remains free of cars.
All in all Great Barn and Middle Barn offer a magical base for a holiday...lots of character...all the facilities...a beautiful setting....all near to some of the best beaches the UK has to offer.
Around the Area
The Barns are in a great locations deep within the beautiful South Hams countryside. There are glorious beaches to the West, to the South and to the East. The nearest is just a 7 minute drive away. Many of these beaches have been voted some of the best in the UK. There are so many lovely beaches but some of the best are :
Bigbury/Burgh Island (West)
A very beautiful golden sandy beach overlooking the iconic Burgh Island. You can walk to the island at low tide and enjoy a pint at the Pilchard Inn on the island. Just don't get cut off by the tide. On the way home stop off at the Oyster Shack for lovely sea food. There are 2 roads to get to Bigbury. The slightly longer main route or the road that runs along the river....which again gets cut off at high tide.
Bantham (West)
If surfing is your thing this is the place to go. On a good day the surf is just as good as North Cornwall. Big long breaks run onto a lovely sandy beach with dunes behind. Board hire is available in the car park.
Blackpool Sands (East)
Not to be confused with its Northern namesake !! A pretty beach of very fine shingle rather than sand. The beach shelves quickly and is good for swimming. Has a nice coffee shop on the beach.
Gara Rock (South)
Park at the top at the hotel and take the coastal path down to the sandy beach. This is a very pretty cove to explore.
Beesands (East)
A long stretch of pebble beach. The Cricket Inn on the seafront does extremely good food. From Beesands walk on the coast path to....
Hallsands (East)
Another pebbly beach....from here you can continue on the coastal path to Start Point light house. Look out for the sunken village !!
Sunny Beach (West)
There are a string of sandy beaches opposite Salcombe that are all very nice. Take the ferry over to Salcombe for lunch.
