About a Holiday in the South Hams
Malborough is a pretty village just a short distance from Salcombe. Being slightly set back from the popular holiday town makes it a more tranquil environment to retreat to after a day of water sports or long walks. It also has the added benefit of greater parking capacity. There’s a convenient Co-op store and garage close by, as well as the popular Ashby’s superstore, which offers everything from locally sourced food and drink to inflatable dinghies. Both are exceptionally convenient for last minute food runs, while the village pub, The Old Inn, is a welcoming place for dinner and a pint. Malborough is also a wonderful starting point for local walks up to and along the South West Coast Path, or for accessing beaches and attractions across the South Hams. Meanwhile, nearby Salcombe is a historic fishing and sailing town that has become famous as a holiday destination because of its natural beauty and its local charm. It’s also filled with local traditions. For example, there’s the Town Regatta in August, excellent sailing opportunities, its own gin and ice cream factories, unparalleled clotted cream fudge, a magnificent bakery, and restaurants such as Captain Flint’s and The Winking Prawn, that have practically become a rite of passage for visitors.
