Great location, terrible hotel.

We loved the location of the hotel, however we felt it is really outdated and to be honest really unclean. The staff is a bunch of young people with terrible (I know everything) attitudes. The concierge told us to go across the way to get ski gear, which was twice the price of the shop in the hotel, come to find out- they get a kickback from the one across the way. While having breakfast one morning we saw the cook stick his finger in sour cream and lick it. So needless to say, we will not be staying here again.

Dear traveler, Please accept my deepest apologies. I hope you can see from many other reviews that your experience is not typical. Many guests have commented on how friendly and helpful our staff has been. We will immediately refresh our training to ensure all guest receive that same level of service. I'm also appalled to learn about the incident in the restaurant. Although the space is leased and we do not manage the restaurant, we understand that their service and actions reflect on us. We will immediately ensure that such things do not occur in the future and if we are able to learn which of their employees did this, we will insist on disciplinary action. I'm sorry you felt our recommended rental shop wasn't appropriate. There are many choices in Teton Village, all within a few dollars of each other, including two right inside the hotel. One of those two pays rent and the other does pay a commission in lieu of rent. In comparison, all shops in Teton Village for 1 day performance skis are within the range of $32 to $39. We try to offer personal recommendations based on the needs of the individual skier since some shops cater more to different needs or specific brands. Les - : More dining options. Cafe needs more choice for breakfast and lunch.
Very clean, convenient hotel steps from the Tram. Nice spa.

Les + : The beds and the linens were awesome
Les - : Make it easier to get to the lifts
Situation : Everyplace we ate was great and just a step away.
The staff was pleasant and the room was comfortable. The room was very clean and enjoyable to relax in also the bathrooms with the Jacuzzi were great. You will enjoy this hotel I promise. The only thing I did not like is that we had to walk uphill to the lifts. I looked forward at the end of the day to come back to a great place to relax and spend a little time in the spa or the heated pool or the gym.

Hotel Tara was an excellent place to stay during our recent ski vacation. It's close to town and just steps away from the lifts. The staff is helpful without being over solicitous. The room was very spacious as we had selected the suite with two bathrooms and a full kitchen. The furniture was clean and updated. We had plenty of room to cook around and relax between our ski jaunts. Perhaps the kitchen was too well-equipped, because we never ate at the hotel restaurants, although we heard that they were excellent. the view of the surrounding mountains was breathtaking. We would absolutely stay here again.

Great hotel and walking distance to Jackson Hole

Les - : Cafe now run by Osteria is going through some changes and needs to find a better rhythm and service speed for walk in guests.
Situation : World class skiing, steps from the hotel lobby.
Hotel location, services and staff are top notch. This is one of the better places to stay if you plan on visiting Jackson Hole in winter or summer. Full service restaurant Il Villaggio Osteria is excellent, Cafe now run by Osteria staff is going through some changes and needs to find a better rhythm and service speed for walk in guests. Especially guests looking for a quick walk up breakfast, coffee and water.

Eco hotel close to the mountain

We were disappointed in this hotel given that it had been rated #1 in a major travel magazine. The rooms were stark and the beds felt like they were stuffed with straw. Perhaps a eco hotel simply means they skimp on the good stuff, including not washing your towels for 3 days as a standard policy. The staff was pleasant and friendly.

Les + : It was all fantastic, great service, and the front desk and concierge really knew their stuff! Great suggestions!
Situation : Hiking, good eats, dirt bike tracks, lots of things for kids to do too. Very touristy, but so easy to walk away and be on your own.
The room was fantastic, the view was amazing, right on the hiking paths with tons to do all around you. A quick drive you takes you anywhere you could want to be. I honestly wish I just stayed here our entire stay, right in the heart of the Tetons. Expect to pay more, it's a ski village. Eerything costs a bit more, but there are TONS of cheaper places to eat in the towns nearby if you don't want to pay $30 for a salad.

Nice but...

Les + : Pros: Located right next to the Mangy Moose Bar. Nice outdoor pool and hottubs. Room design. Nice large soaking tub in the bathrooms.
Les - : Cons: Not ski-out despite the suggestion that it is. Staff customer relations related to issues caused by the hotel.
Overall the hotel, its facilities, the rooms, and the location are nice. Please note this is not a ski-out hotel but at the end of the day you can ski-in to approximately a couple hundred feet of their ski valet service. Unfortunately I cannot recommend the hotel due to a reservation issue. Upon arrival, my reservation could not be found. This prevented me from checking in for anther 40 minutes or so at 11pm at night. At check-out the hotel denied any wrong-doing on their side. While the reservation was made via Expedia, two confirmation emails and a text message were received. Expedia also provided follow-up written proof that Hotel Terra had acknowledged the reservation in their system. I understand mistakes happen but I expect honesty above all else. Furthermore, I do not expect issues like this for a hotel that costs over $250/night.
