Peaceful Mountain Retreat, Close to Everything, Hot Tub & EV Charger!

Mountain Solitude without Isolation, stunning views and a completely remodeled cabin awaits you at Buena Vista.

After a day enjoying the North Carolina Mountains and all Lake Chatuge has to offer come back to your own private home above the lake and below the stars.

Our home “Buena Vista” is spacious and comfy with three outside patios on almost an acre. We are minutes from a free public boat launch, golf, restaurants, shopping and historic downtown Hayesville.

The guys will hang on the huge outside deck grilling, playing ring toss, maybe even drinking a beer as they cook something wonderful on the pellet grill. After dinner, a nice soak in the hot tub or maybe s’mores in the Solo smokeless fire pit.

The Layout

Buena Vista has three bedrooms and three bathrooms with an open living and dining room, a remote control propane fireplace, a gourmet kitchen, all memory foam beds, and four smart TVs. The entire home was renovated in the summer of 2022, with new flooring, new kitchen, new everything, all three bathrooms, new windows and an enlarged deck. Buena Vista comfortably sleeps eight with a king in the primary upstairs with an en-suite, queen bunk beds with a full bathroom steps away and downstairs another primary with a king bed, an en-suite, a breakfast bar with a sink, and two recliners.


The Kitchen

Easily whip up delicious meals in the fully equipped small, but mighty gourmet kitchen. This is our vacation home too, so this isn’t your typical rental. It is our home and we love to cook. We have pretty much every kitchen gadget or serving piece you will need, All Clad and LeCreuset cookware, a paella pan. You are welcome to use any of the pantry items, spices, flour, sugar, oil, etc.

The dining room table will comfortably fit eight for dinner or for game nights!

The Neighborhood


Buena Vista is in a safe and quite neighborhood with only a few houses on the street. The property across the street is home to deer, and rabbits and if you are visiting in the summer months we have lots of hummingbirds.

Buena Vista is easily accessible, no crazy twisty drives up a steep mountain. Minutes to groceries, restaurants, the water, golf, hiking, yet you will still feel a million miles away from it all.

Pets

We are happy to host your well behaved dogs but do require you to obtain written approval from us first, (we cannot accept any dangerous breeds and have a weight limit of 20 lbs.). There is non-refundable pet fee of $100.00. Because we allow dogs, if you have pet allergy issues, Buena Vista will not be a good fit for you.

Security

We feel very safe in our neighborhood. We live in an area where the neighbors all know each other, and we all look out for each other.

In addition we have installed security cameras on the front and back of the house. The cameras are aimed at the street and driveway and doorways. A picture of the area the cameras record are provided in the guest book for you.

Military Discount/Other Discounts

10% discount is offered to active or retired U.S. military members, and a special offer will be sent after ID has been verified. Please contact us prior to booking so that we may apply the discount.

We don’t offer additional discounts..so please don’t ask. We believe Buena Vista is priced appropriately for the area and amenities we offer.

Kind and respectful

We welcome EVERYONE, regardless of culture, gender, ethnicity and ideology, (ok, almost everybody, at least one of you has to be 28 or older). As long as you are kind, respectful, tidy, and house rules following people, you are welcome in our home.

Guests with mobility issues

We have three steps up to enter the house from the back driveway, a spiral staircase leads to the downstairs bedroom. The original footprint of the house did not allow us to make any of the bathrooms handicap accessible.

Check in check out

We offer seamless check in and check out. We will send you the codes for the lock three days before your arrival, easy-peasy! Our guest book should answer all your questions about the house, our favorite restaurants, parks, shopping and check-out instructions. If you have other questions we are happy to help. Check-in is at 4:00 p.m., and check-out is before 10:30 a.m. unless arranged before arrival.

Parking

We have two driveways and they are both paved. The back driveway allows for easy unloading of groceries, has parking for two cars and a Level 2 EV Charger. Our front driveway is a semi-circle and allows direct access to the downstairs bedroom and easy parking if you are pulling a trailer.

Please note we do store a car under the carport.

Lock Outs

Two bedroom closets, a few drawers and cabinets are locked. We have made ample provisions for your hanging clothes and there is plenty of drawer space. If you are staying for a month or more we can make more space for hanging clothes available.

Cleaning

Buena Vista is professionally cleaned. Please rest assured that special precautions will be taken to assure disinfection of all surfaces between guests.

Other things to note:

***Caution - Guests with mobility issues will have problems navigating the spiral staircase and the exterior stone steps.

WiFi is fast however, we do experience brief electrical outages because of the density of the trees wifi might have to be manually reset after an outage.

Free Range Dogs: Our neighborhood has three delightful and friendly dogs that may stop by during your stay looking for a treat or a head scratch. These dogs have homes and are well cared for usually inside dogs. If you don’t encourage them and tell them to go home, they will.

Everything you need

My husband, daughter and her family-including a 3 and 1 yr old and our dog- stayed 6 days in this wonderful house. There was a spacious bedroom for our daughter and son in love, a bunk room at the other end of the house for the children and a spacious bedroom suite downstairs for us. The suite included a nice sitting area with 2 recliners and a coffee bar. We did; however, need to use the lower driveway to take our suitcases to the downstairs bedroom. The spiral staircase is narrow. The babies were too young so we did not use the hot tub. The lower porch had a swing and games which was fun in down times. The grill was excellent and the view from the deck was nice complete with plenty of seating. The outdoor table was perfect for dinner. We all agreed this was the most well stocked VRBO/Air BB we’ve ever stayed and the owner openly shares what is there. Access to the house was easy. The owner was quick to respond to questions and we felt very safe. They left us a gift of coffee and a pie from a local merchant. The only downside to this fabulous place was sulfur water which smells like rotten eggs. We would rent it again!

Piece of heaven on earth

We absolutely LOVED our stay. Paula is wonderful and communicated often to make sure we were doing well. The house is cozy, yet modern. The view is stunning. The beds were comfy and the house was very well appointed! We met the neighborhood dogs (so sweet) and got a pie from the neighbors! Easily walked to the lake and Ingles is right down the street. My favorite part was the hot tub! Over-looking the lake, I was relaxed every night! We hope to come back soon!

Great views, everything you could need!

We really enjoyed our stay at Paula’s cabin. From the beginning communication with Paula was excellent. Directions and instructions were very clear. The cabin was as pictured and even had more than we expected. We had everything needed to make Thanksgiving dinner in the kitchen. The beds were all very comfortable, fireplace was great and warm and the views from inside the cabin were so peaceful. There was plenty of space for us to spread out. We enjoyed the hot tub one night and there is also a patio heater on the porch and a smokeless fire pit. Paula left us some sweet welcome gifts too. We only had one issue when we arrived with the water having an odor and Paula addressed it right away and sent someone to change the well filter. It was a lovely cabin in a great location / not difficult to access at all. Thank you Paula and Tom!
