LOCATION
Famous as the home of the tasty Forfar ‘bridie’, this popular market town plays a key role in the county of Angus. Once the centre of the ancient Kingdom of the Picts, the traditional town is now the administrative hub of the region with around 14,000 inhabitants. There are good facilities for shopping, including a monthly farmer’s market which is enjoyed by visitors and local alike.
Forfar Community Centre has excellent sports and leisure facilities including a 25 metre 6 lane swimming pool and indoor gym. There are lots of outdoor sports options nearby too with good fishing and several golf courses in the area. There is also a local professional football team, Forfar Athletic, which was founded in 1885!
Once a major textile centre for linen and jute, the town has very good transport links with the A90 dual carriageway linking Forfar with Aberdeen to the North and Dundee to the South. The countryside of the Angus Glens is easily accessible and very scenic. There are several notable tourist attractions within easy reach such as Glamis Castle (5 miles) and the V & A museum in Dundee (13 miles).
