"I liked the Inn at the 5th because it is within walking distance of the Amtrak station, which is how I got into Eugene, as well as having a complimentary luxury shuttle to the airport, for getting out, which I took advantage of [reserving ahead recommended]. The hotel is within a postcard-pretty part of town, surrounded by a variety of eateries, and shopping opportunities, in a safe, walkable and convenient area. The room was very large, with interesting specifics such as wood furniture made out of recovered wood from a previous building, as well as a very comfortable bed, and all the modern amenities (fridge, tv, large bathroom, luxury sinks etc.). Room service is via butler's pantries - an interesting touch. There are free snacks and drinks at reception. The reception staff was wonderful - efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. If there are two qualms, these are: a) the shower, which at this price point should have had a movable head (I understand that in the 19th century rain showers were better than washing with a bucket, but really...); and b) the absence of breakfast in any shape. However, the second was compensated by the really good breakfast place next door. Overall, I would return for the convenience, comfort and friendliness."
