Very cozy home, beautiful view, and lots of comfort in outdoor setting. Great house to stay at with lots of fun features! Highly recommend.Only down side is you have to take care of the trash yourself, no bins with a trash service.
We had a good stay at this property. The kitchen was spacious and well-stocked, making it easy to cook meals for our whole group. The large dining table was perfect for gathering together and playing card games, and the family living room was a highlightâplenty of seating, a great selection of games, and a real fireplace that made it feel extra cozy. That said, there were a couple of drawbacks. The scented plug-ins were overwhelming when we arrived. I ended up removing them and the smell became more bearable. It's hard to The biggest disappointment was that the hot tub wasnât working. The property manager did try to get it fixed, but unfortunately, no one was able to come during our stay. Given that this is a key amenity for many guests, it would be great if someone could check that it's in working order before each check-in. Additionally, there was no garbage disposal in the sink, which made cleaning up after meals a bit of a hassle, especially with a large group.Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this propertyâjust double-check about the hot tub if itâs important to your visit!
Cain is wonderful in a great location and very spacious. Everything was as advertised everything worked. Beds were comfortable, plenty of hot water. The views from this property are amazing. Fires in the fireplace every night. We did not have any negative issues even though we were snowed in for 2 days we had an amazing time! Be sure to have 4/all wheel during snow season. Newland has a lot to offer as does Roan Mountain. Mikes coffee is really good just a short drive into Newland. Not gonna lie the clown picture in the upstairs bedroom is frightening, I suggest you bring him a red balloon as a peace offering.
Great place to stay. Exactly as described. The only things i can point out was the kitchen was a little sticky on the floor and cabinet drawer handles. The fact we have to take out our own trash it a little weird since we pay for cleaning. And we were in a truck and needed to back into the actual driveway bc the turn was very sharp. But over all i highly recommend.
We had a great time at the cabin. Many local amenities were closed from the hurricane, but we enjoyed just staying in. The hot tub and fire pit were great! Only issues were the grill (probably no propane) and the upstairs tv (could not get fire stick to cooperate). Otherwise, a great place for our family of five to get away for a bit.
Had a great experience, beautiful place and location in the mountains providing a little quiet and tranquility with the family. Great layout and amenities. While overall we had a wonderful stay, just a couple of updates needed such as the blinds and windows in a few rooms were broken. Need to replace missing screens on ALL windows. With no A/C in the Summer this became a small inconvenience as it was fight the heat or the insects. Also patio furniture was missing cushions so limited ability to use which is one of the best features of the home, to be able to sit on the patio and enjoy the mountain air. Overall though, great place, was clean and had everything we needed for cooking and comfort. Might suggest management co. come by and freshen up the place before guest arrival. Thank you again for letting us stay, attended Highland Games and the location was convenient to everything around. I would call out what was a hidden gem, at least to me, and ensure guests take advantage of the Elk River Falls swimming hole. 10 min from house and great experience for the family.
We really enjoyed our three-day stay over Christmas holidays. As mentioned by others, cleanliness could be better and there are minor repairs or upgrades that would make it even better. However, it is a really beautiful home with plenty of space and places to relax! The view, at least in the winter, is beautiful from the fabulous deck. We enjoyed the open floor plan to be able to cook Christmas meals while listening to Christmas music or watching Christmas movies. The indoor fireplace and outdoor fire pit were much appreciated. The hot tub was awesome! I enjoyed the outdoor swing. The master bed was very comfortable (pillows, not so great). We were there for Christmas Day when there isn't anywhere to go, so we really enjoyed the Ping Pong table! Overall, I would recommend this home and would stay again!
House was clean but missing a shower curtain in one bathroom. Only family room TV would connect...Netflix only. Could not lock front door unless exiting through basement or garage. Scenery was beautiful, hot tub was great!
We loved the house. It was spacious and comfy. We went with 2 other couples and everyone had their own room and bathroom. The house features a huge living room and kitchen too. Our favorite spot was the front porch. It was so cozy with a nice view! The only negative I have to mention is that the house was not as clean as it could have been. Considering that there are cleaning fees AND you are asked to âtidy upâ before you leave the house, including stripping all beds, loading and starting dishwasher and taking your own trash to the dump a few miles down the road, I expected the place to be a little cleaner. It seems like the guest is expected to do the bulk of the cleaning so the cleaning people shouldnât have a lot to do. With that being said, our bed sheets were dirty, there was a bottle of lubricant and a pacifier left under our bed, there were small bags of what I assume were pet droppings laying on the outside steps of the house (although there are supposed to be no pets allowed) and the refrigerator was very dirty. We also only had one trash bag in the house so we had to go back out and buy some. I donât blame the owner for this as they do hire someone to clean the home. I sent the contact person a message about our concerns and she was very nice and apologetic and said she would fix. I donât know what she meant by that considering we were already there and I never heard from her again. I just donât agree with a cleaning fee if the house isnât clean when we arrive. Aside from these few things, it really is a very nice house and I would still recommend staying here. I just hope they pay a little more attention to the cleaning in the future!
Stunning house!! Absolutely tranquil environment. We felt like we were at home. Hosts were friendly . Lots to do around. We all enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
The house itself is beautiful and in a great location. However, the property is not adequately kept.
The house has plenty of ceiling fans, but as the day progresses, the house gets uncomfortably warm, and not all the windows have screens to allow for air flow without bugs coming in - especially the laundry area. I assume this is why there are so many bugs upon arrival. There are also large ants in the kitchen sink and refrigerator. A single cup was left unwashed from the night prior in the sink and the next morning, there were over a dozen large black ants swarming the cup. The large master bedroom upstairs had crayon on the wall, a taped off, unusable sink, and a note about the toilet pressure/flushing issues. The main level master bedding had sticky spots of what looked like jelly and the living room corner couch was covered with white pet hair. Outside, the stream wasnât flowing so my crew filled it with water to help out the Koi at the bottom, and the hot tub had a thick layer of dirt on the bottom to clean.
Lastly, the house is scarcely stocked for higher than expected dismissal requests. Our party of 9 and week long stay required frequent bath, wash cloth, and kitchen towel laundry. There are limited quantities of each. You are provided 1 trash bag and 3 laundry pods with the expectation to begin loads of laundry and drive the trash bins to the dump in Newland (15 minutes away) before departure. This is a challenge for longer stays and no truck.
As stated, the house is aesthetically beautiful. Itâs also tastefully decorated, easily accessible and roomy. However, there are notable and obvious issues with the property with cleanliness and insects - as also commented on the property guest log book. If you are willing to take the initial time to clean (sweep/ vacuum), purchase a few additional small room fans, and wash (like the bedding with jelly), before your vacation starts (like we did), then it will make your time much more tolerable and enjoyable.
