Beautiful lakeside room with the basics

Publié le 27 oct. 2015
Les + : The location was convenient to all of the places we attended and our building was quiet (Burlington Bay building 6)
Les - : Better housekeeping staff who had consistent practices. Examples: refreshing towels and removing dirty ones, cleaning bathroom fixtures as needed
Situation : We enjoyed the food and service at The Pub in Two Harbors. Was a nice local bar! The Castle Danger Brewery was also a fun spot to check out!
We selected Superior Shores for our recent honeymoon. We stayed in a Burlington Bay Lakehome which provided a beautiful view of the lake and nice fresh room conditions. There were a few disappointments during our stay. There were no hangers in our closet thus we could not hang our jackets or other items, the bathroom did not have a fan, the cable on the TV had horrible reception on quite a few of the channels, the dirty towels from our Jacuzzi tub were not replenished the first day of our stay but all towels were replenished the second day of our stay but the dirty towels were not removed and our bathroom was not cleaned. We noticed that other guests had bags of garbage left outside their doors as if their garbage's were not emptied daily, the outside light of the adjacent unit (vacant) was left on during our entire stay which obstructed the view of the lake at night and lastly we were not asked about our stay when we checked out which was disappointing. I will agree with some of the other reviews and state that the main resort staff seemed quite short with their interactions and not approachable. We did encounter two maintenance workers outside of our room and they were very friendly and welcoming. Overall these may appear to be minor disappointments but they were things we noticed. I was a little skeptical after reading some of the reviews but overall our stay was pleasant and we would consider a return stay at Burlington Bay again.

Gentleman at night desk on Sunday 10/11 was very courteous and diplomatic in resolving my wife's complaint about need for repair of screen in our room window.

room had an amazing view

Publié le 12 oct. 2015
was there for a wedding, everything but the staff serving the meal was fantastic. the staff involved in that aspect were not responsive to any requests(refilling the carafe of water on the table, grabbing an extra set of silverware) and had to be asked repeatedly to get anything from them. was very much a "dont care" attitude, which for the money charged by the venue for the meal/facilities was extremely disappointing.

Looks good but cant sleep

The bed was very uncomfortable. I went to the doctor after to get my back straightened. You can hear people walking in the floor above. The restaurant was very expensive for the food. Great view though.

Prefer the Lodge or Superior Shores Lakehomes

Publié le 14 sept. 2015
Les + : WiFi in the room. 2 person jacuzzi. Lots of pillows and towels
Les - : Exercise room.
Situation : Lots to do! Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock Lighthouse, Superior hiking trail, golf, shopping in town, half hour from Duluth, good places to eat.
We've been going to Superior Shores Resort for the past 20 years. We had never stayed at the Burlington Bay lakehomes so decided to try them for a long weekend. We chose a room with fireplace and jacuzzi. It was very nice and very clean. My husband would choose BB again in a heartbeat. For me, one and done. One of my favorite things to do is to go to the beach with my coffee and watch the sun come up. Access to the beach at BB is rather limited compared to SS. The exercise room in Bldg 6 is rather meager - a treadmill, a bike and an elliptical. No water. A bit too isolated for me. Some might love the quiet. We used the stairs and laughed that we had to go through 6 doors to get outside.
