« Lovely stay at Kingscroft hotel, very peaceful location, check in was quick greeted by Wol on arrival ( such a lovely host) & taken to our room which was clean, big & exceptionally clean. Lots of extras including plenty of towels, toiletries, hairdryer, tea/coffee & biscuits. Bed was very comfy & bathroom was modern with great shower. 10 minutes to walk to centre of Buxton Breakfast , we aren’t vegetarian but my goodness we didn’t miss the usual bacon/ sausages! « The owner Tim, is a very nice man, there was nothing that was too much trouble for him. He is a brilliant chef, the breakfast was fantastic. If we are in this area again, we would not hesitate to stay again at the Old Lockup. Highly recommended. »

« Strange share house kind of arrangement. When we arrived someone seemed to be cooking in the kitchen which was very cluttered. The towels were oversized hand towels we found in the wardrobe. There were a pair of thongs under the small desk and a tshirt in the draw. The bed was very soft. »

« Very disappointing stay. The room I booked was already occupied when I arrived. I was moved to a smaller room that did not match what I paid for three people, and my children had to find accommodation elsewhere. The place was not very clean and had an unpleasant smell. The kitchen was dirty. I did not even wait for breakfast. I chcked out very early in the morning. »
