The house is right next to West Point, Cornwall-on-Hudson, the Hudson River, and centered between the Hudson Highlands and Black Rock Forest. Our house is perfect for any weekend getaway or a vacation with family and friends. We are a quick 1-hour drive from New York City.

Check us out on IG @upstategetaways

Before booking, please be aware of our additional fees for guests over 4 to cover maintenance, cleaning and upkeep on the property.

Up to 2 dogs are allowed for your stay, but we do charge a fee given additional cleaning and maintenance on the home.

Only about 1 hour from NYC and nestled on top of a mountainside, The Storm King Mountain House sits on 4 acres of wilderness and has direct access to the Storm King Mountain trailhead. Right out the front yard, there's a natural waterfall flowing most of the year and a firepit that's always open. There are additional trails from the house that overlooks the Hudson River and Newburgh Beacon Bridge. There are tons of activities right in our backyard including hiking, fishing, swimming, kayaking, snowshoeing, and more. If you’d prefer to stay at home you can relax in the sunroom or in front of the woodstove, grill on the patio, watch TV, listen to music, make a fire outside, or chill with some board games. Please note the outdoor sauna is still under construction and is closed currently.

Three floors, four bedrooms—on the 1st floor we have a full kitchen, living room with Sonos speakers, a dining room, and a working wood stove. The bedrooms on the 2nd floor are one king, one queen, and two full-size beds, The final bedroom is on the 3rd floor and sports a queen bed. We have 3 separate living rooms on each floor to hang out in, including a Sunroom. Guests will find the home stocked with all the necessary amenities including towels, linens, kitchen basics, and toiletries.

The property includes a grill on the patio, a full Sonos music system and record player, and tons of board games to play. You can also warm up next to our fire pit/fireplace inside or outside.

Guests will be able to access all parts of the property and house, excluding the outdoor Sauna as it is under construction.

We are available via phone, text, or through the Airbnb application at any point during your stay.

The Storm King Mountain House is steps from Storm King State Park, Storm King Adventure Tours, and the Art Center. We are nestled right in the town of Cornwall-on-Hudson.

The property is truly unique, sitting in the woods and surrounded by wilderness including a waterfall, and many trailheads.

We are minutes drive from West Point, Cold Spring, and close to the Beacon train station (Hudson line), which goes to and from NYC every hour. Other close attractions include Bear Mountain and Newburgh.

We recommend a car to get to the house, but there are a ton of things to do within walking distance. Please see our guidebook for more activities.

Please be very careful parking and try to use the lower driveway. If you need to use the upper driveway, make sure you always look carefully while backing out. There is a blind spot and cars tend to go fast down the road.

Note: All Holiday weekends require a 3-night minimum to book. Due to higher demand and costs, we are unable to accommodate the shorter stay on these dates.
Welcome to The Storm King Mountain House! We are very excited for you to stay at our home.

If you need anything, please feel free to contact us through the rental app, by phone or email. We have provided basic amenities including: fresh towels, toiletries, linens, and kitchen basics. If you need to do laundry, feel free to use our washer and dryer.

You will have access to WIFI at the house. If you are on the WIFI, we have a Sonos sound system set-up that you can access through the Sonos app. You can download it for free on the App Store on your smartphone—iPhone or Android. With Sonos, you can play music in the kitchen, on the patio, or in the 2nd floor living room. Please try and keep the noise levels down if you are playing music outdoors late at night.

Please be respectful of our guest policy and let us know the number of guests you’ll be having ahead of time. If you expect additional guests after booking, just send us a quick message letting us know and we will do our best to accommodate.
Quiet hours are 10pm-8am. Please respect our neighbors.

Please enter the house through the front door using the code given to you upon check-in. The door to enter will be to your left as you enter the front yard. The door needs to be all the way shut for the code to work and the door to open. Press the lock button on the keypad to lock the door while it is shut.. A key for the front door to your right will be accessible in the lockbox if required. Please always return the key to its original location.

Please only park in our driveway and not out on the street. Be very careful when parking and make sure you look both ways as you enter or exit to the street.

At the end of your stay, please start a wash for all towels used and put all the dishes in the dishwasher. Please do not leave dishes in the sink or towels on the floor.

Download the Sonos App to play music around the house in the Kitchen, Living Room, and Patio. Please try and keep the volume down if you are playing music outdoors late at night.

There’s 2 bins for trash & recycling at the top driveway. Please bring trash from the kitchen to the bins on check-out. Rinse all dirty recycling items. For any extra trash that won’t fit, please take it with you to dispose of safely. We are allotted a limited amount of trash a week at our local transfer station, and will charge a $50 trash overage fee if additional trash is left.

There are 4 thermostats in total. One on the 2nd and 3rd floors, and 2 on the first floor in the kitchen and dining room. Please turn the heat up if desired, but remember to always turn heat back down when you leave the house. The house heats up very fast, so please conserve and turn down the heat when not in use. Please leave thermostats at 55 degrees when not in use.

Please never leave burning or smoldering logs unsupervised inside the house. Pour water on the fire pit outside after use until the fire is completely out. Please read directions to use the Wood Stove inside.

We can't always guarantee there will be propane in the tank, but feel free to fill it up at the closest gas station if not. Please confirm the propane valve is turned off after use.

Each common room has its own AC, either on the wall or in the window. Please turn off when not in use and make sure to not lose the remotes please.

Pets must be pre-approved before they are allowed at the property. Please inquire ahead of time about bringing along your pet. Any damage will be the renter's full responsibility. Bringing a pet without prior approval will result in a loss of your security deposit.

Always check for ticks at the end of each day after spending time in the woods—this is really important. Keep a lookout for poison ivy when hiking.

Please be advised the house is not Infant-proof. If you do bring an infant, please be very careful and always keep an eye on them.

Wash all the towels you use at the end of your stay. You can wash them with a little bit of detergent in the wash room under the “normal” setting.

Strip only the beds you use and leave sheets next to the beds on the floor. Please do not strip the duvet covers.

Please clean dirty dishes and do a wash for us in the dishwasher or leave on the drying rack.

If you used the keys, put them safely back in the lockbox with the numbers scrambled. We charge $50 for re-keying all locks if keys are not returned the same day as check out.

Please bring trash from the kitchen to the bins on check-out.

Please make sure the lights and AC units are off, and that you lock all doors of the house. Heat must be set to 55 degrees on check-out.

Remember to write us a review on Airbnb!

There are tons of outdoor activities, many right in the backyard: hiking, climbing, fishing, swimming, cornhole, kayaking, lawn games, snowshoeing, and more.

Tons to do including hiking, swimming, kayaking, boating, and more. Directly out the house is the trailhead for the Storm King Mountain Trail.

Download All Trails to see all the trails in the area. There are a ton, but here are some of our favorites:

Storm King Mountain Trail: Right out the front door and a must-do. A semi-strenuous hike uphill, but well worth it in the end. The hike leads to Butler Hill, which is a must see. About 1-2 hours round trip depending on which path you go.
Black Rock Forest: A longer trail that starts up the road towards highway 9W. Cross under the highway to the left for access to the Hill of Pines Trailhead and White Oak Road, leading to many ponds and lakes. Could be an all-day hike depending on which paths you go.
Bear Mountain Loop Trail: About 3.8 mile moderate loop. Very popular.
Breakneck Ridge: A popular hike, and a short drive away.
Perkins Memorial Tower: a 3.8 mile out and back trail.
Anthony's Nose via Camp Smith Trail: a 6.4 mile out and back trail.

You can swim in the Bear Mountain Pool, or in Hessian Lake in the summer months. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, you can hike into the Black Rock Forest and find a pond to swim in. Both are a 5 minute drive from the house, or if you’re feeling lively, a couple hours hike.
