Whiterock Conservancy is a 5,500-acre, nonprofit land trust dedicated to providing educational and recreational opportunities for the public, improving and protecting the land through conservation, and demonstrating sustainable farming methods.
Explore over 40 miles of hiking, running, mountain biking, and equestrian trails that meander through prairie, oak savanna, wetland and river valley; set up camp in our RV or tent camping areas; or enjoy the comforts of home in one of our vacation rentals. Enjoy the countryside and wildlife, and some of the darkest skies in Iowa for stargazing. Visit the Historic Garst Farmstead to learn about agricultural history or check out one of our multiple fishing ponds. We have fishing equipment, mountain bikes and kayaks/canoes (river level and weather permitting) for rent.
A remote cabin sitting between a spring-fed pond and the Middle Raccoon River in a beautiful, yet secluded valley. This site is designated as a strictly hike-in, bike-in, or horseback ride-in site from River campground. A one-mile hike in, this cabin was moved into the valley from 805 Main Street, Coon Rapids many years ago.
BEDROOMS: One room, 6 twin sleeping platforms with foam mattresses. Bring your own bedding.
BATHROOMS: Port-a-potty outhouse, solar shower. NO water and NO electricity. Toilet paper is provided.
LIVING/DINING AREAS: 3-season cabin with living/sitting room, upstairs loft and small kitchen area. Screen windows are covered with shutters. A small table, chairs, and large garbage can is provided.
OUTDOORS: Great for fishing trips and horseback rides! Includes firepit, and picnic table. Horses can also be kept at the cabin either in one of the two pens, on the tie line or by closing the gate and allowing them to roam within the small fenced in area surrounding the cabin. The large yard area could be used to pitch a tent for additional sleeping area. Tent camping is $15 per night per tent.
PARKING: NO vehicles allowed. Hike-in, bike-in or horseback-ride in only. Approximately one-mile hike. Park at River Campground for easy trail access. Whiterock Conservancy is no longer able to provide daily gator rentals. 805 River Cabin is accessible by hiking, biking or horseback ride only.
Cell coverage may not be available from all providers.
PETS: Dogs are welcome in this rental. Please respect the space. When on Whiterock Conservancy property, dogs must be controlled by leash or voice command. Please clean up after your pet.
FIREWOOD: Each location has a fire ring and firewood. Fires are allowed in fire rings only, please do not move the fire rings. No fireworks allowed anywhere on Whiterock Conservancy property.
ADDITIONAL POLICIES:
No Smoking is allowed inside any Whiterock Conservancy lodging accommodations.
Guests will be responsible for any damage to or loss of Whiterock Conservancy property.
Deposit Policy - Full payment is required at the time of booking.
No-Show Policy - No-Shows will be 100% non-refundable.
Cancellation Policy - A Fee of $75 will be applied to all cancellations. Cancellations made within 10 days of arrival will be non-refundable.
Same-day Booking - Allowed on a case-by-case basis. Please call Guest Services to reserve same-day.
