Quartier Historique de Galena

« You can't find a better location if you want to be in the heart of downtown Galena for a reasonable price. The air conditioning is a window unit in the front room, but the host provides plenty of fans. There are two bedrooms, but the first has cut-outs in the upper walls, and the second doesn't have a door right now, so privacy is limited. The living/dining area is very spacious and comfortable. »

« The location was perfect, just a short walk from downtown. The Artistic Retreat was exceptionally clean, and the bed was very comfortable, making for a relaxing stay. We especially enjoyed using the sauna, which was an added bonus. During one of our walks downtown, we had the pleasure of meeting the owners. It was fascinating to learn about the history of the property and hear about their impressive artistic backgrounds. We highly recommend the Artistic Retreat. »

« We stayed at this property for a girls trip. It was exactly what we were going for. Quiet, peaceful & adorable. Went to Dubuque for a day and Galena the next. Our mornings were on the porch enjoying our coffee listening to the cows welcome the morning followed by the birds. The deer had a parade in the mornings as well along the bubbling creek. And watching the neighbors horses in the pasture was magnificent. Evenings were dark-dark, which allowed us to admire the night sky filled with stars....

« Place was perfect! We never moved our cars when we were there. Beds were comfortable and rooms were spacious. Each room was nicely decorated and perfect for each couple. Some places might list sleeps 10 but then have multiple beds in each room or bunk beds etc, so this was perfect for an adult getaway with our kids. We could walk to everything and if someone wanted to stay behind or wasn't ready, they could catch up with us easily. Only downside would be the kitchen (would've loved an...

« Property was beautifully restored. Accommodations were excellent, property owner had the guests in mind when planning the suites. Kitchenette supplies for all the leftovers, wonderful toiletries and the linens/bedding were very nice. Location is right in the heart of Galena downtown and the parking spaces are an added bonus. Communication with the host was seamless and friendly. Thank you for a wonderful weekend getaway. »
