No a/c

Publié le 22 août 2016
Checked in , then discovered the a/c wasn't working. it was unbearably hot and stuffy in the room. When I went to the desk they just told me it gets cooler at night and to open the window. I asked if they had a fan they said no. I didn't get any sleep it was so hot. I was told they would talk to expedia about getting a discount, but have yet to hear anything else from the hotel.

Lightning.

When we booked in we were informed that our room had no air conditioner. A week befor the hotel was hit by lighting. I wish we were informed so we could have made other arrangements.

Past its Prime

Publié le 21 août 2016
Les + : The front desk staff were pleasant and friendly. The pool seemed nice and refreshing.
Les - : It's reno time for this building.
Situation : Plenty of restaurants and lounges in the area and gorgeous views of the eastern Rockies.
An older building that is starting to show cumulative errors. While my room was well made up, dust free, clean bathroom, etc, the carpet had ugly stains and the furniture was nicked and scratched. The thermostat that controlled the air conditioning was ancient, sticky, poorly mounted and inaccurate. The combination of a dark carpet and low wattage lights gave the room a definite seedy feeling. While the bathroom was clean, it was small enough that one must turn sideways and stand beside the toilet to close the door. It was well equipped, but in stark contrast to the rest of the room, the light was blindingly bright. The ballast for the light hummed annoyingly and the shower curtain rod was loosely mounted and twisted, so that it hung down and I had to keep closing the curtain while showering as the weight of the curtain and water would drag it open. The back door of the hotel was set to be locked during certain hours, but the door would not completely close on it's own, so anyone could walk in. Before I arrived for my stay, circumstances changed and I contacted the hotel to make the requisite changes. Sometime during this exchange a mistake was made, so that I was not expected when I arrived. The front desk staff were very concerned and helpful, even though they were nearly full.

Ramada Cochrane ~ very nice

Publié le 18 août 2016
Les + : Very nicely priced. Had everything we needed in our room.
Situation : Excellent location.
Everything you need while on a road trip / vacation. Clean, organized, well laid out, lots on offer. Great bed for a good night's sleep. Lots of fun touches with the draping of the shower curtain, arrangement of towels, etc. Unfortunately, due to a lightening strike, the air conditioning was out - for a week! That's a long time to go without fresh, cool air circulating in your hotel room during a summer road trip. There was no reduction in room price nor the offer of a fan. We weren't told about the issue either. We discovered the thermostat not working and called to the front desk. They were forthcoming and polite about it - to be sure. Luckily, we had cool weather.

Good location.

Only drawback was with the breakfast. By 8:30 AM I was told they run out of eggs. A few round hash browns and toast was allall that was left. Juice dispenser was empty but they did refill it when someone told them. The employee who was cooking was also running the front desk. No one else was around to help her.

Family room was nice, could hear the pool

Publié le 9 août 2016
Decent hotel stay for the price. We stayed in a family suite which had bunk beds and a mini table & chairs. Our boys loved the bunks and their own little sitting spot. Downside, our room was next to the pool so you could hear people (just a little) once we had put the boys to bed. I believe the pool closed at 10. Breakfast was ok but the sitting area was full so we had to take our food to our room. Overall, pretty nice stay

Good Hotel for Banff and Calgary trips

Publié le 7 août 2016
Myself and family of 4 stayed for 3 nights for our vacation trip from Vancouver. The hotels near Banff were highly priced and even sold out and has to look for Cochraine and got room for very good price at half the rate if Banff and with more facilities. Though this us an hour drive from Banff, enjoyed the stay with good staff and facilities. The breakfast included was quite adequate including the baked items. Saw the items being refilled quite often. One suggestion would be to increase the dining area. Overall, a great hotel for family stay.

No Service

Publié le 7 août 2016
Les + : the shower head, produced a very nice relaxing shower.
Les - : Don't allow people in the pool with street clothes. Plus allow them to use the pool when they are staying at another hotel across the street.
The lack of staff makes it impossible to have good quality service. An example of this, is the front desk staff, also prepare the entire breakfast setup, clean tables, remove garbage, prepare the food, stock the food. Trying to look after that and check people out, answer phones etc. Is very difficult, and therefore, it lacks in service.
