A group of 11 of us stayed at the property in July 2022 for one week. We were 6 adults and 5 children (ages 5-2). We had a fantastic time and Kathryn was very helpful before and during our stay.
The villa is ideal for a large group with separate areas for kids or different families across the 2 apartments. The villa feels very safe and well maintained. The pool was cleaned while we were there. The pool has a shallow enclosed area which is ideal for kids to stand up in safely, it also has fairly shallow steps into the pool which were easy for kids.
The villa was full equipped with linens, towels and both kitchens were fully stocked with all the cutlery, crockery, pots and pans we needed. There are also 2 BBQs which we used one night. There is a fish van and a bakery van that stops outside the villa (about 11am), we bought fresh fish (salmon and sardines) and freshly baked parties which were delicious.
There are 5+ restaurants and cafes within 5-10 minutes stroll from the villa. All serving reasonably priced and tasty food. There are also 4 little supermarkets that sell all the essentials you may need.
The area is lovely and it is an easy down hill stroll to the closest part of the beach, probably 15 mins gentle walk with kids, quicker for adults. There is a little kids playground on the way if a pit stop is necessary. The beach was lovely, soft white sand, lifeguards, easy rental of lounger and parasols and lots of nice restaurants nearby. Try the clams if you can, they were excellent.
We took a day trip to Caldas Da Rainha which is the nearest town (approx 10-12 minutes in a tax about 15 euro). There is a nice park (Parque Dom Carlos) with a kids playground, small boating lake, beautiful flowers and 2 cafes.
Some reviews have said you need a car. We didn't have a car and didn't feel like we needed one at all. All amenities are within easy walking distance. Foz de Arelho is a small town which suited us as we wanted a relaxing trip with kids with everything close by.
