A great family get-a-way

The property was as described in the online description. There were a few things that could use some attention. Overall, a great property, large enough for the family to be together as well as have separate quiet time in smaller groups. Definitely has earned its name a "A Place of Peace & Quiet".

Family Vacation Kids & Grandkids

We had a great time. This is our second time staying at this house. Plenty of Bedrooms and each one is large and comfortable. Love the large family room with a Fire Place. We spent most of our time here hanging out and playing games. The Kitchen was well-equipped and easy to manage. We skied at Okemo which is only half an hour away. There are several good restaurants and Harpoon Brewery, all within a 15-minute drive.

Lovely Home

We had a really nice weekend at this house. We were in the area for a wedding and enjoyed wonderful down time at the house. There were a few small issues that needed some attention (bathroom sink fixtures) and I noted them to the property manager just to make sure that we would not be held responsible. About an hour after sending the message I got a call from someone looking to come and fix the issues! Great service - though we let him know there was no need to come on a Saturday.

Great house in need of some TLC

This house is in a beautiful and peaceful location with views of mountain vistas. However, we arrived to a house with dirty carpets and bugs all over the floors and in the corners. It was clear the home hadn't been cleaned at least since the last person stayed there, probably during ski season and we were there in June. There was a broken toilet and the shower heads were loose and flimsy. There were 5 towels in the whole house for 11 people and we had to wait for 24 hours for someone to come by and bring us more towels. The maintenance staff was responsive but I would have rather spent time with my family than fixing someone else's home. It would be a great place if the owners invested a little time and money fixing the place up.

Wonderful Country House with Mountain Views

The property provided our family of 7 with a very quiet and enjoyable experience. The layout was well done and the garage main access was very convenient. The house was very clean and tidy.

Mountain View

The house is in an amazing location with a view of the mountains and hiking trails in the back yard. House was certainly clean, a bit minimally furnished, but roomy with very comfortable beds and lots of sitting areas. The kitchen could use a new toaster, but had adequate equipment and nice appliances. Check in and check out were very easy and wifi and cable were excellent. Perfect for a large family stay!

Amazing location and plenty of space!

The house was in a great location, especially if you want to hike to the top of Mt. Ascutney: one trail to the top started near the end of the driveway. We hiked it and it was great. Close proximity to Brownsville, Windsor, and the Quechee/Woodstock area was also great. The house is a big comfortable space. If you like to cook, you might want to bring your own knives (and potholders). Some cleaning supplies were limited (just a few dishwasher pods), and there were no kitchen towels to speak of, but we improvised. Bring eye masks for sleeping, unless you're an early riser. The window blinds were in various states of disrepair, along with other small items around the house that need fixing (shower doors, kitchen faucet, two broken coffee pots). In all we were comfortable, but the space would benefit from some maintenance. The yard and outdoor spaces are very nice, and the views are incredible.

Family gathering

The house itself isn't bad, clean but just a bit outdated. There were alot of ants and earwigs outside as well as inside which was a little annoying. In our tour of the house we noted that the master bedroom footboard was broken. I contacted the front desk contact to Vacasa, who handles the rental, and sent pictures. As per the email response, I instructed to go into the basement and get a can of paint to place under that side for support for the meantime until they contact the owner. That was how that was dealt with for the next 5 days of our stay. No one ever came by to inspect it or do anything else. They also advertise Air Conditioning but it's only available upstairs and it never worked. We had 2 very hot days (Both Saturday 91 degrees and Sunday 93 degrees) and after emailing the property manager (Vacasa) and multiple emails & text messages they'd send someone but NO ONE EVER CAME. The house had the minimal amount of supplies (1 roll of paper towels & 3 garbage bags) for 5 days??? No cleaning products either. I've rented many homes in the area over the last 15 years and by far this was the most disappointing one, especially since the Property Manager never made an effort to resolve any issues during our stay. They did reimburse us less than 1 nites stay. I would never recommend this home to stay.

Skiing getaway

A few friends and I stayed at this property to ski at Okemo for the week. It’s a relatively easy and quick drive to the resort (~35 minutes). The property had plenty of space to house everyone, plenty of firewood for us, and the kitchen was large enough for all of us to cook. Would book again

Great stay.

There were eight adults in our group and the house was accommodating. There was plenty of room in the house for us to relax and spend time together. The location was out of town and a very quite setting. The shrubs and landscaping needed trimming to improve the view.

Overall good, but could have been better

The house and location were great, however the photos on the listing for the views are not precise because we found a lot of weed grown in front of the windows that were restricting our view. The experience would have been much better if the weeds were taken care of and maintained. The photos showed us that there’ll be unrestricted views and unfortunately there was not. Also, a fire pit would have been good which was not there, that’ll help the visitors enjoy the outdoors more after sunset.

Great house with plenty of room

We had a wonderful stay. Our family had plenty of space to spread out. TV would not work, which was not a big deal since we played games and talked but would be food to fix in the future. Skiing area was close by.

SO DISAPPOINTED! THINK TWICE BEFORE RENTING. MISREPRESENTED.

We were HORRIFIED at the condition of this house. There is NO way it was cleaned, never mind COVID cleaned before our arrival. There was trash (empty plastic Gatorade bottles and crumpled paper) found under a bed. There was PUBIC HAIR in the master bath jetted tub. There were toenail clippings on the floor. The toilets were dirty - all of them. There was leftover cooking oil and various food items left in a kitchen cabinet (no way those were wiped down!). The electric tea kettle did not work. The toilet rocked back and forth in the master bath. There was NO DOOR on the master bedroom. There were no instructions about the heat, the tv or anything else for that matter. The electrical switches were loose and coming off the wall in many places. The kitchen cabinet doors did not close and most of the knobs were loose. Half of the recliner love seat was broken. There were empty picture hooks on the walls, dirt on the walls, and scratches and knicks. The house is very dated and smelled unclean when we came in. The carpets are stained, and the mattresses on the beds are awful. This is the most POORLY stocked rental home we have ever stayed in - and we have been customers of VRBO/vacasa for years. Most of the kitchen cabinets were empty (all but two), there are hardly any towels, there was very little furniture in most bedrooms, no hangers in the closets. There was no salt or ice melt to be had, and the entrances were caked in ice. No snow shovel, and it snowed every day we were there. No plowing beyond what was done before we arrived. There were no books, no CD player - nothing! This was an unacceptable situation, and despite trying to get a response from VRBO or Vacasa for 3 days, we never got anything other than a message saying they were busy with other emails!! This is an annual trip for us, we spend a year planning it, and we wound up stuck with this. Terrible customer service on the part of VRBO or Vacasa - who say they are always ready to help. NOT TRUE!! The only good thing about this place is the location. The fields and woods are gorgeous. The house was awful. And dirty. And no one at VRBO or Vacasa seems to care.

The best!

This house is perfect for a getaway! The house had ample living room space and each couple was able to have their own room, which was fantastic. Kitchen was fully equipped and the woods behind the house were lovely for an afternoon hike. Will definitely stay again!
