Hello Melvyn,Thank you for reviewing your stay and we are thrilled to hear that you loved the staff, service, food and room.We are perplexed by your comments regarding the noise and our location. The Beverley Arms is located on North Bar Within, we are not located in the town square and it is unusual for anyone to gather outside in the evening, although we are of course on a walking route into the town centre. All our front facing rooms have double glazing installed, could this perhaps have been left open during your stay.Your reference to an iron bar across the door is quite a vivid description of something this is a remnant of the original (19th Century perhaps) “bar door locking system” that remains in place. We simply use this as part of the character of the building when closing our doors to the public on an evening, most certainly not to address a challenging situation!We do hope this will not deter you from a future visit and do hope to see you again soon.
