San Antonio family trip

Overall we enjoyed our stay except that we were excited about using the pool as soon as we got to the house but it was super dirty and low water. The host did addressed the issue right away though.

Worst thus far

We rented this property to be close to all of San Antonio’s Seaworld attractions. When we arrived the front door was not locked. As we entered it was noticeable that it was very warm in the house. We immediately realized that there were AC issues. I contacted the host immediately. He did reply in a timely manner but we did not receive any kind of relief. We stayed until Friday and the AC was stil broke. The tech he did send stated that the unit was too small for the house. The house was not maintained well either. There were many broken items. One of the fans in the room didn’t work, the kitchen cabinets were broken, the chairs were in bad shape, the game equipment was missing pieces and broke and the door handle to one is the rooms was falling off. The kitchen’s pots and pans were in horrible shape, most of the utensils were broken as well. There were minimal bowls etc. The beautiful bathroom in the pictures was very deceiving as well. It is actually in the owners suit with no wall to separate the two. You could use the toilet and or shower while looking at the bed. The shower was not well contained and would splash everywhere making it a huge fall potential on the slippery tile. I had to clean the kitchen and various areas before I could use any of them. When I contacted the host on Friday to let him know we were very disappointed he said he would make it right and had to contact his Partner. As of two days later there has been no resolution.

Not what I expected

I have been using VRBO for a long time and this is the first time I was disappointed. My fiancĂ© is disabled and uses a walker/wheelchair to get around. I spent a lot of time searching for a one story house that would fit us plus 4 children (ages 13-21). Pros: the house is not cluttered with furniture, very spacious. The pool was comfortable and clean. Owner replied to communication immediately; very polite. Master tub is Heaven! Cons: The driveway is VERY steep. It was not easy for my fiancĂ© to get into the house. The house seemed clean at first glance but the pots and pans, as well as the drawers they were kept in, were full of grease and had to be washed before I could cook. We found dead roaches in several rooms in the house. There was no indication in the description that there are stairs leading to the pool area; cement stairs that are not level. It took 2 of us to help my fiancĂ© up and down so he wouldn’t fall. My daughter fell twice. The patio out the back door was unkept (dead plants) and had no comfortable seating. The AC could not keep up with the heat: 72 degrees in the morning then it would climb all day, as high as 80 by nightfall. This was reported twice to the owner. The telescope, game table and arcade game are all for show and do not work. The dining room chairs are not steady. Stackable Washer and dryer are too small. Too much money, too many inconveniences - will not rent again.

Great property in a fantastic location.

Enjoyed our stay very much. The property was perfect for our group size (4 adults and two chlidren) and could have easily accommodated more. The location of the property is great, near enough to evenything we had planned for the trip.

Didn’t refund money

We were so excited to come stay at this house this past weekend but that didn’t happen. We were on our way from Houston to San Antonio when I thought I should reach out about how to access inside house when we arrive. We were in Luling (a little over and hour from San Antonio) when I got a call from the owner saying a pipe busted and we could not come stay the night. He wanted to offer us his house in downtown San Antonio but that was not going to work with all the kids and then our plans to go to sea world (no time for moving twice in 12 hours). After long discussion we decided to take the owner up on his offer to let us cancel for no charge since this pipe bust was not our fault. However, we only received part of a refund and owner hasn’t answered or contacted me back about refunding the rest of our money. This is super frustrating and unprofessional. Also, if I had not contacted the owner in the middle of our travels, we would have shown up to a mess
 I can’t believe we were not contacted right away about the issue and I cannot believe we have not received full refund since we were forced to cancel and find a new place to stay last minute. I normally do not leave reviews and I get this pipe burst was not his fault but I need things to be done professionally and taken care of with contacting guests and refunding money.

The interior of the house itself do not have complaints. It was big enough for all of us. Only reason why I do not give 5 stars is because the yard was not mowed we had high grass which also attracted more mosquitoes. Another reason there was so many Flies. I understand there are flies everywhere but seem more than usual. As soon as you opened the door at least 3 would come in at a time.

Perfect place for our family holiday weekend!

This house is perfect for a family getaway. The kitchen is very spacious and I love the open concept so I could visit with family while I cooked. The bedrooms are all fantastic too. I slept in the master and the mattress was SUPER comfortable. I have a bad back so I really appreciated that. The weather kept us from spending more time in the backyard but we still went out there plenty! We hope to back in the summer so we can enjoy the pool! 😉
