Excellent séjour
Très belle expérience. La maison est en tout point conforme aux descriptions et très bien équipée. La vue est magnifique sur le castelo et la mer. L'accueil de nos hôtes était très chaleureux. Maria a laissé à notre intention du vin, du fromage, des oranges, .... Nos enfants (19, 13 et 6 ans) et nous mêmes avions très vite adopté la distribution des chambres et des espaces communs et nous nous y sentions comme à la maison. Les amoureux de littérature, d'histoire, de photographie et de voyage y trouveront même une impressionnante collection de livres. Enfin nous avons apprécié la proximité d'un parking très abordable à proximité. Encore une fois merci à nos hôtes et nous recommandons vivement cet appartement.

An Incredible Home to Enhance the Lisbon Experience
This home is off-the-charts amazing, as are the owners. It is beautiful with incredible views, fascinating decor, and comfort as well. When not admiring the views, we were admiring the stunning art, furnishings, and architecture. Marc and Maria are top-grade hosts that treat the renters as guests, unlike many managers. They provide recommendations for sites, restaurants, and anything else that would enhance your stay. We were even provided cheese, crackers, and Portuguese wine as a treat after a long trip. We are appreciative for the wonderful experience!

Amazing in every way!
We were four friends traveling three weeks in Spain and Portugal. Check in was a breeze, Marc was there when we arrived. The photographs are good but in no way do the apartment justice. The views are amazing! This apartment is centrally located, well appointed and full of artistic touches. A bakery, gelato shop, Portuguese restaurant, supermarket and park are just steps away. It’s down hill all the way to the coast. You can walk back but a taxi ride is about seven euro and worth it. Staying here was a highlight of our trip.

Five Star Views!!
We loved it! Our first visit to Lisbon and we enjoyed the authentic neighborhood and location for 4 days of walking, sailing and excursions outside the city. Marc’s apartment was his personal home which we respected. Our older kids had the rooms with the views as well. We enjoyed a night in and cooked in the well appointed kitchen. Cheers! We’ll be back!

Lovely Lisbon Home
Marc was a wonderful host, greeting us at the apt and showing us all the ins and outs. It’s very spacious and well-appointed, as well as located within walking distance of the central area. The only thing we misjudged from the photos was the size of the balcony, which is just a little larger than a Juliette…not nearly big enough to sit out on in the evening to enjoy a cigar and glass of wine. We did, however, open the French doors, pull up the chairs, and enjoy the lovely wine and cheese plate Marc and Maria provided as a warm welcome. Tasty! The beds were very comfortable, showers hot with great pressure, and pretty much everything we needed was provided. It is fairly common in Europe to not provide wash cloths or separate hair conditioner, so we have learned to bring them with us. This was our first visit to Lisbon (which we thoroughly enjoyed!), and Marc’s hospitality (including restaurant recommendations) made our trip all the more memorable. Highly recommend this home away from home!

Great time in Lisbon
Absolutely beautiful apartment with fantastic views from almost every window! While being a large apartment, it feels like home. The owner has many lovely photographs of the Lisbon area he took himself on the walls. The neighborhood has many restaurants and a grocery store very nearby. Many sights a 15-20 minute walk away. We used Bolt (like Uber) to get around town. Very easy and inexpensive as of April 2024. 4 old friends enjoyed their time here. We would highly recommend!

New Years in Lisbon
My family (wife, three adult sons) visited Lisbon for the first time during the week of December 25/January 1. The host is a phenomical gentleman who was very helpful and always available. The property is very clean, attractive, has a phenomical view, is tastefully decorated with antiques, and has all the amenities of home. In fact, it felt like home. The neighborhood was very safe and numerous attractions and restaurants were within one to two blocks. I highly recommend the property and greatly appreciate the host's hospitality and generosity. The high ratings the property and host have received are deserved, and you will not be disappointed. I hope to return to beautiful Lisbon and the property.

Our lovely Lisbon stay
We are five old friends who travel together each autumn. This year, we were so excited to visit Portugal, with Lisbon being the last stop on our two week trip. This apartment was absolutely perfect. It was spacious, warm and beautiful, very well appointed with spectacular views. Our hosts guided us to helpful neighbrhood ammenities (cafe, patisserie, grocerie store, local restaurants), which were all very close by. It was just a wonderful stay and we do hope to someday return to further explore this enchanting city.

Picture perfect
Had a great experience surrounded by the art of Lisbon area. We were able to immerse ourselves in the local atmosphere and feel like we experienced an authentic glimpse into the culture and food. Large Apartment Overlooking Lisbon
Our party of four adults spent four nights at Maria's artfully decorated 3 bedroom, two-bathroom Lisbon apartment. The spacious living and dining areas and balcony face downtown Lisbon with a sweeping panoramic view. Wonderful stay in Lisbon
We were four ladies in our 60's visiting Lisbon for the first time. The location of the apartment is very good and the apartment has a lot of charm. The living room, dining area and kitchen are very spacious and comfortable. The master bedroom and bathroom en-suite are very comfortable for a couple. The second bedroom is best suited for children/teenagers. The second bathroom has a very small shower. Overall we had a most enjoyable stay.

I certainly don’t agree that the 2nd bedroom is best suited for children/teenagers because it has 2 single beds of 36x80 inches each, and when put together side by side (as for couples) we are talking no more no less of a king size bed by american standards. Concerning the second bathroom, I have to say that I’ve never heard or read this remark in any of the 5 stars reviews from my previous hosts, the shower has a perfectly normal size, accommodating all types of adults without any problem.

Incredible apartment with unmatched views!
From our first contact, owner Maria's communication was exceptional. Always prompt and responsive to our questions. The description and photos on listing are 100% accurate. Apartment is beautiful with out of this world views of Tagus River and city. French door to small terrace is where you want to be each evening to enjoy some wine and take in the views. Beds are very comfortable. Very nice neighborhood with convenience mentioned by other postings. Highly recommend local vibe and casual dinner at La Pibe Empanadas---a 7 minute walk away. Don't miss the gelato place around the corner and down the street! We like to walk and found the location fine for us but be aware you will climb pretty steep streets when returning from the Lisbon center. Marc was the perfect host in welcoming us and getting us settled. He was full of helpful information and greeted us warmly.

We loved our stay at this beautiful property with a spectacular view! I especially enjoyed the neighborhood ambience. I did not feel like a tourist. The neighborhood restaurants were very good and I liked being able to walk to them. The hill was not a problem for my husband and me. Check out the Elavador do Laura that is 5 minutes away. It makes getting back up easy.

Our 2023 Portugal Trip
Thank you Marc and Maria for your courtesy and allowing us to stay at your property! Our family had already been in Portugal (Tavira and then Nazare) for 3 weeks, and this property was our last stay for the final leg of our month long trip. Maria kept in touch with us as the date and time of our arrival approached and informed us ahead of time that Marc would meet us at the property. This apartment was exceptional! It was clean, furnished, everything worked (including the lift), beautifully decorated and in a great area. This apartment is very well maintained. The photos on vrbo.com are nice, but can not convey the "soul" or feeling this apartment has. The views were excellent as well. It is also adjacent to a park-which was a bonus. Marc explained how to use all the amenities and gave suggestions for great restaurants in the area. We took Marc's suggestions, ate at a couple of the restaurants-which were great. Also, on a separate note, Marc suggested a tuk-tuk driver by the name of Maria. Maria was wonderful. She gave us a couple of great tours of Lisbon and shared a wealth of history about many areas that we saw. Maria was exceptional, and without going into details, she helped us get the last document needed for a project that our family had been working on for the past year. We cannot thank her enough...and thank you to Marc for suggesting her as a tuk-tuk option to see the city. Also, enjoyed seeing Marc's wonderful photography in the apartment and books!

This apartment was immaculate and gorgeous. Between the location, the views, the art and the amazing hosts, nothing could have been better. I wouldn’t change a thing. Incredible Views!
The property was exactly as shown. It was in a quiet family friendly neighborhood with 2 parks directly across the street. The views from the balcony day and night were incredible. Walk out your door to several great restaurants, cafes, and an amazing Gelato shop just steps away. You are far enough away from the main tourist area to have peace and quiet but just minutes away from a nice walk down to Rossio square. Marc and Maria were excellent hosts, always responsive and checked in with us to make sure we had a great trip. Would stay here again next time we visit Lisbon.

Beautiful Experience
We went to Lisbon to visit our daughter who is studying there this semester and stayed in this beautiful apartment and the whole experience was wonderful. The view is amazing, the location perfect for traveling around Lisbon, and the apartment is beautiful and fascinating as it is furnished with wonderful photos, art, and artifacts. But more than that, the hosts were incredibly helpful, accommodating and communicative, and even connected us with a fabulous tour guide who arranged a number of terrific trips, and outings for our family. It was a memorable trip and our experience here made it all the more so. We hope to visit and stay again.

Incredible apartment and views
We have stayed in several VRBO in Europe and this was one of the best. The apartment itself was clean, well appointed and gracious. It had expansive views of the river, the Castle, and far far more. It was located in a awesome neighborhood with parks, bakeries, and restaurants. While up on the hill, we still found ourselves walking to most places in the city, even though it requires a good uphill climb. Yet, if tired, buses and Ubers are readily available. It was pretty much a 15 minute walk to most major attractions and more touristy places. The three bedrooms suited our family well. Ample kitchen, laundry, you name it - it was there. Hosts were communicative, helpful and talented (Marc's photography is amazing). If we return to Lisbon, we would return to this apartment!

Our family enjoyed our stay in this beautiful apartment. Our hosts were wonderful with restaurant recommendations (ze da mouraria 3 across the street is delicious!). Convenient grocery store. Beautiful view - easy walk down the hills to many sites; though definitely take the recommendation of our hosts to Uber back up the hill! Apartment has a beautiful view, many many books, gorgeous art, access to Netflix is easy - wifi works well. Highly recommend!

A lovely property in a great area of Lisbon
We loved staying at this lovely property. Maria was wonderful, check in was easy and if we had any questions they were immediately answered. We had a fairly rainy week so this was a great place to stay. You could open the windows and feel as if you were sitting outside. Wonderful area with a lovely park adjacent to the property, bakeries, restaurants, and a grocery store on the same block. Would happily stay here again on a subsequent trip!

This unit is truly wonderful, including the host. One of the many attributes of this particular place is that it is not in a touristy location yet still close enough to most of the places one would want to visit, i.e. palaces, churches, monuments, museums, restaurants, shopping, and a castle, are within a 30 min walk. And the Portuguese are wonderful people. Don't let the hills worry you, they aren't that bad. We are in average shape and did not have any problems walking around. We walked to St. Georges castle, (Castelo de Sao Jorge), on top of the hill in the photo, do not miss it. A neighborhood restaurant that serves excellent local cuisine with a great local ambiance is several doors down. And the Portuguese are wonderful people. A well-stocked market, including a decent selection of wine, is about 4 doors up the street. The owners live in the unit for several months during the year consequently it feels like you have access to a private retreat, replete with beautiful artwork and lovely furniture. And the Portuguese are wonderful people. Occasionally VRBO photos look better than reality, but that is not the case here. This place is as beautiful or maybe even more so because photos do not convey the actual ambiance. We literally walked in the front door, and said wow, this is gorgeous! See the photo with the wine and cheese? That’s not just a prop, the owner actually does that as a welcome gift. And the Portuguese are wonderful people. They also offer tours of the city and surrounding area. We loved the half-day tour so much, that upon return, we booked the full-day tour to Sintra, gorgeous. Ask for tour guide Maria and driver Rui, you will not be disappointed. Had the weather been nicer we would have done the sailing excursion also. The ultimate test of the quality of the experience is the question, "would you return to the same place?" YES! Wouldn't even give it a second thought or look elsewhere. If you have never been to Lisbon this is the place to stay. If you have been to Lisbon and didn’t stay here, now you know you should have. We have stayed in very nice VRBOs, this is at the top of the list. BTW, did I mention the Portuguese are wonderful people? I thought so.

Breathtaking views, beautiful apartment, fabulous hosts
The apartment is located in a residential area, away from the busier parts of Lisbon, yet still conveniently a short & inexpensive Uber ride away from sightseeing, shopping and the waterfront area. It is beautifully furnished and decorated, spacious and light-filled, and it has so much more warmth and style than most rental listings. The views of Lisbon are truly breathtaking! There are French doors that open to a wraparound balcony, enabling you to enjoy the views from the attractive living room and dining area. We stayed in the apartment with our college-age son, who was delighted with his bedroom (which also came with views). I corresponded with the owner, Maria, on several occasions prior to our arrival, and she was always very helpful and prompt in replying, and was able to assist us with an extensive list of recommended restaurants in Lisbon. Her sister has recently opened a tour guide business that offers personal tours of Lisbon and the surrounding areas of Sintra & Cascais; we had already made arrangements for visiting those places and so didn't utilize her services, but they are extensive and would be very helpful for future guests. Upon arrival, we met with Marc, Maria’s husband, who was very gracious and personable. He explained the logistics of the apartment, recommended a nearby breakfast place, neighbourhood restaurant, gelato shop and supermarket (literally 20 yards from the apartment and truly has everything you would need), and he directed us to the best routes for walking or Ubering to the attractions of Lisbon. He also kindly gifted us a lovely bottle of red wine, along with great cheese and crackers. Marc gave us the most wonderful restaurant recommendation for dinner, Aqui Há Peixe, a family-run fish & seafood restaurant (also offers meat dishes) on a quiet little street in a charming part of the Chiado area. It was perfect! The prior evening, we ate at an outdoor Italian restaurant located in the centre of the park that the apartment overlooks, and the pasta & pizza there was excellent. One of the highlights of our time in Lisbon was a visit to the Gulbenkian Museum, which has an incredible and varied private collection of art and antiquities, and is a short Uber drive from the apartment. Not to be missed! We chose this very special Lisbon apartment after seeing its beautiful photos and carefully reading the reviews, and it did not disappoint!

Loving Lisbon
First time in Lisbon and this property highlighted the best of it. The owner has personal pictures of the city that are hung around the apartment which enticed us to walk every day just to see the beauty that he saw. On his recommendations we sampled food in the neighborhood and beyond. Fabulous accommodations that were perfect for 5 of us! Quiet neighborhood, views to wake up to and to say goodnight to as well. The ceiling fans kept us cool every night as well as the breeze because you are so high up. We loved it and we will be back! Thank you, it was truly lovely.

We loved staying at this apartment! The owners were fantastic hosts and met us upon arrival, explaining a variety of helpful things about the apartment and neighborhood. The apartment amenities were fabulous and the location quite advantageous. There is a grocery store a couple doors down the street, and delicious pastry and gelato shops on the nearby corners. It is easy to walk to a variety of Lisbon’s sites and the metro. I highly recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Lisbon.

Wunderschöner Kurztrip
Wir, drei befreundete Ehepaare, haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt in der Wohnung von Maria und Mark . Die Wohnung ist zentral gelegen und optimal um diese wunderschöne Stadt zu erkunden. Ein toller Bäcker nur eine Straße weiter, ideal um frühstücken zu gehen. In der Wohnung war aber auch alles vorhanden um selber etwas zuzubereiten. Da wir nur 4 Tage dort waren,haben wir die Küche jedoch nicht genutzt. Mark hat uns herzlichst begrüßt und uns tolle Tips zu portugiesischen Restaurants in der nahen Umgebung gegeben. Diese haben wir gerne genutzt und das portugiesische Essen genossen. Mark ist ein super Gastgeber und wir werden bestimmt nochmal seine Wohnung buchen.

Fabulous apartment!
Both the apartment and the host were outstanding! The apartment was beautiful, spacious, and well equipped. Our host, Mark, was very accessible and helpful throughout our stay. I only wish that there were more good restaurants close by.
