The staff are really friendly and helpful. We didn't eat here (except for the excellent breakfast) but the food looked good and the bar had a nice vibe. Beers are good! « Great place as a base for exploring the Borders. Overall stay was good. Room was exceptionally clean(had a couple of minor niggles but these were dealt with happily and swiftly). Stayed in a double which was quite small (with only one bedside table). Would 'upgrade' to a larger room if staying again. The best thing about this hotel is the people and the outstanding service they provide-nothing too much trouble and so friendly. Ooh- and good food including a fab breakfast. »

« Lovely spacious well-heated house in beautiful countryside. We had a week of snowy weather which was heavenly. Edward, the owner was extremely helpful. He towed out some cars which got stuck in the car park by the house, provided lots of logs, replaced the washing machine which had problems and was generally a great help. This is a house for people who like old books and furnishings...don't go there if you want modern posh. »

« Great central location from which to explore the Borders region from Bamburgh to Melrose ; from the Alnwick Gardens to Edinburgh. After a great day exploring to return to our quiet countryside cottage for a relaxing glass while watching the sunset over the hills as the the horses enjoying a late night snack in the paddock and the swifts and bats doing tricks was wonderful . « Lovely property which the photographs did not do justice! The very large living area meant lots of space for our 10 month old grandson to explore. (A lovely touch was the gift for hi. Left with the welcome pack. What a lovely, generous gesture.) The bedrooms were beautifully furnished and very comfortable. All in all an amazing stay. »
