Really helpful and friendly staff, but the room was POOR. Very tired room and hotel. I had a Guinness and a burger for dinner which was good. But the room was draughty and in poor condition. I slept in my socks and tracksuit bottoms!!!
Breakfast was good but so uncomfortable as it was freezing room temperature.
Do t be fooled by the official images in app for this hotel. They must have been taken years ago.
Very helpful friendly staff but hotel so old its rooms need upgrading therefore didnt feel it was worth the money. Lovely place but nothing to do!! No pubs or shops!! Obviously not the hotels fault but beacuse of this felt alot of money for a mediocre (but very clean) room in a village where there is nothing!
Stayed for 2 nights. Both of us infirm but no offer of help with luggage. Breakfasts were average. We had one dinner but it was not very good. Wouldnât recommend the food. Only a skylight in our room so no view other than sky. 1 waitress was very cheery and helpful, the rest gave the impression that they were doing a job without much enthusiasm.
We had the most awful bedroom and my friends paid the same amount and their room was bigger , brighter . Felt like army barracks , thoroughly disappointed
I liked being able to have a hot bath. I prefer a bath to a shower.
It suits me being beside the A68 - long journey north <-> south.
I found the internet use very unreliable. Even downstairs where I was told it would work - that turned out to be only in the restaurant or standing at the foot of the stairs!
Food was fabulous - breakfast superb and great dinners!
Only slight suggestion - skylight in Room #19 very dirty - would have been great it is was clean. But that is just a minor element in what was overall a wonderful stay!
Thank you!
Quiet, friendly old road house. The staff were helpful and made you feel welcomed. Breakfast and dinner were both excellent. Would come back again. If you have time St. Cuthbertâs Way hike is close by and is a beautiful walk along the river, especially in May.
