« In spite of some very lovely staff, this hotel is in an appalling state and desperately need of a facelift. Water damage on the walls, peeling paint, leaking toilets, a broken shower and windows that haven’t been cleaned in years. The owners need to spend a lot of money on this establishment that must have been spectacular in the past, as neither it or the staff deserve it being left in this state. »

« The staff were lovely, breakfast was excellent, the restaurant didn't open till 6pm, so as we were going out we ordered bar food, which was ok, tasty but nothing special, convenient for us though.again the staff were lovely, We asked to change rooms because of a small problem,it was done without any fuss. It is slowly being renovated and just had lovely New windows in the lounge, some of the rooms need updating and the secret balcony could do with abit of TLC,, but it's a beautiful old building,...

« Toilet seat was hanging off. Had to wait to get checked in, sea gulls kept us awake all night. Not an aera I recommend. »

« We stayed over for the concert at the open air. The hotel was clean and well maintained- all the staff were polite and friendly. Our room was clean. The bar was lovely and the restaurant and breakfast was perfect. The en-suite was very small but clean. The only thing that would have meant full star rating would have been a better parking arrangement, - a quality mattress and blackout curtains. That being said we would definitely stay here again. »

« Chambre exiguë, à se demander si ce n'était pas une chambre de bonne reconvertie (3 m de large sur 4 m de long), eau bouillante pour la douche à 2 reprises (2 matinées de suite) : merci pour les migraines de la journée ! Pas de wifi dans les chambres : nécessité de se rendre dans les salons et à l'accueil situés au rez de chaussée pour se connecter à internet avec smartphone et pc portable. »

« What a traveler needs more than anything is a clean accommodations, good shower, a super bed and a solid location.Loved all 4. A short walk to anywhere and BTW, the 199 steps to the top of the town were no big deal. Whitby is awesome! »

« A wonderful experience at St Hildas, wonderful friendly staff and check in easy. Fabulous room we loved it and can't wait to return. Excellent choices for breakfast, all good quality products available. A beautiful base, we loved it all. »

« Lovely location, pleasant staff, tiny car park, but you can on street park if you buy a disc. The morning seagull serenade was a nice touch. »

« Staff very helpful, amazing location so easy to get around various beauty spots. Park& Ride across the road. Access to Whitby so easy. Disabled visitors catered for. Staff decorated our room ( which was amazing) for my birthday. Lovely surprise. »

« No breakfast available as advertised place was shut No internet No sports on tv in cabin Beach cabin is in the middle of a housing estate ? No view whatsoever No towels supplied on a &200 a night cabin ? Paid for four nights I left after one night ?? There is a shop but it shuts at 18-00 ?? They think this place is up market ? Long way to go . »

« We had no running hot water other than the electric shower. No wardrobe just hangers on hooks. TV was the size of an iPad. Bottom bed sheet too small and forever coming off. Needs to be clearer when it states breakfast included but it is only cereal. Outside seating area not suitable as soiled with seagulls droppings »

« Very dirty and unpleasant atmosphere. Everything broken . It is like hell. Would not recommend to anyone. Nothing is useful. This place should be locked and banned for use . »

« Upstairs balcony was booked out Shame cos that was the hook to get us there But was ok in the end »

« For the cost of the room I expected more modern decor and room facilities. Very basic bath/shower combo, basic tea making facilities and dated decor/room furniture. The view from the room was fantastic but the view alone shouldn’t warrant such high prices. »

« The only problem was the shower hose had a rip and had gaffer tape on top but still leaked water everywhere and we had to take shower head off and use the ripped hose to have a clean while holding it »
