visiteurs de mai, bonjour!
merci de votre visite!... en soit, la relative isolation de notre hôtel est plutôt perçue comme un avantage recherché par la plupart de nos clients, qui désirent s'échapper de l'environnement urbain étouffant de Singapour...
notre plage privée est entretenue quotidiennement par une équipe de nettoyeurs qui commencent leur travail a 7 heures du matin... les limites de notre plage sont clairement indiquées par des panneaux d'information;
nous sommes par conséquent en mesure d'offrir a nos clients un environnement propre et sans surprises... ceci n'est pas toujours le cas des plages avoisinantes, que vous avez probablement décidé d'explorer à pied, lors de votre séjour chez nous;
la pollution marine est malheureusement un problème global, commun à toutes les plages... nous sommes désolés d'avoir été sanctionnés par une note médiocre, pour une cause sur laquelle nous n'avons pas, ou peu de contrôle...
le gouvernement indonésien est conscient de ce problème, et il s'est engagé dans une double recherche de solutions:
1. sensibilisation de la population locale, et opérations périodiques de nettoyage du littoral;
2. identification et arrestation des pétroliers qui rincent leurs cuves dans les eaux internationales proches;
nous espérons avoir à nouveau le plaisir de votre visite dans un futur proche!

Dear Maria,Thank a lot for liking our place, and for taking the time to write a fair review. Our motto is to be a 1-star resort providing a 5-star service… as such, we are happy to know that this is how you rated us.Allow me to add a few nuances, for a fuller picture:The room category you have selected is a Pondok Plus, the more economical option. This kind of room was built initially, when our concept was to be only a homestay… hence the detached private bathroom, located next to the bedroom, like in a village. But now as a resort, the majority of our rooms are River Houses of the superior category, with en-suite bathroom & shower room… perhaps you would like to give it a try, next time?My apologies for the unfortunate difficulty experienced with the bathroom door… our resort maintenance team, on duty every day from 9am till 5pm, would have been quick to fix this issue, if they had been made aware of it.As an eco-resort, we are doing our best to balance guest comfort & protection of the environment, this sometimes can prove to be a bit challenging. Insects are part of any natural environment and their presence is actually the testimony to a healthy eco-system. Still, we have been controlling the population of biting insects to be minimum, with a combination of preventive measures and selective fogging. Your stay happened to coincide with days of alternating sunshine & rain, which would typically result in a temporary increase of mosquitoes at sunset, this usually happens in the tropics… Good news, since then, we have not received guest comments on this topic. We have taken note of your feedback regarding the island tour, provided by a third party since we have decided to focus on our core business, which is hospitality. The private taxi operator we had been working with for several years, had the necessary language skills & local knowledge, but sadly his small enterprise did not survive the recent pandemic crisis. We are now looking for a suitable replacement… in the meantime, we can only suggest hiring a local taxi operator, to our guests who wish to explore the greater Bintan, as you did.We look forward to your next visit!Marc (resort owner)

we have noted your suggestion regarding the breakfast, which is included in the room package... at this point, our breakfast offers a choice of 10 sets, as a mix of asian and western popular choices;
our guests also have the option of ordering a customised set, according to their specific dietary requirements... we are now in the midst of drafting our new 2020 menu, and your comment will certainly help us improve the current offerings;
as you must have noticed, we are putting a lot of energy in maintaining the beach in the best possible condition, starting every day from 7am... the tractor turning the sand over and the spraying of a water-based insecticide have proven very effective for keeping the sandflies down within our property;
we have also placed signs at both extremities of our private beach, asking our guests to be careful when exploring the nearby wild beaches, which would still have sandflies, depending on the season;

please accept my apologies for making you feel that we were below your expectations in two areas
the room: our accommodation is following the traditional indonesian lifestyle, as such there is a water basin with a coconut shell scoop near the entrance doorsteps of each room;
this is for our guests to rinse their feet when they come back from the beach, and for those who do not understand the purpose, we have posted a written explanation note in the room... it is unfortunate that you did not notice either one;
the food & beverages service: we have adopted here the "slow food" concept... as stated on our menus, we are seeking the support of our guests, who should order their meals an hour in advance;
to facilitate the process, our Team members are going around the resort an hour or two before meal time, to collect guests advance orders... from the information i could gather, you did not take advantage of this opportunity, and preferred to order on the spot, which resulted in delivery delays;
we were running a full house during the Chinese New Year period, and our Team resources were indeed a bit stretched... this is where advance orders help, and would have allowed us to double check on the availability of some menu items;
needless to say that most of our suppliers had taken off for this long holiday, and the current monsoon season restricts the availability of sea products, resulting in a perfect storm...
based on your comments, we have briefed our staff to be more efficient;
of course, guests who choose to eat at the beach hut, instead of our Warung restaurant, would have to expect delivery delays, due to the 300-meter distance from the kitchen;
we hope that this clarification will entice you to visit us again;

we are happy to know that you were impressed by our service quality... indeed, our business vision is to be a one-star hotel with five-star service;
we are sorry to hear however, that you felt a bit lonely during your stay with us... as a matter of fact, most of our guests prefer us to other resorts, precisely because of the privacy and the calm setting we offer;
the interim period between New Year and Chinese New Year is always a bit slow, especially on weekdays... with only 15 rooms spread generously over 8 hectares, the amount of freedom and space we propose is rather unique;
we hope to see you again, on a weekend perhaps, when we are almost always fully booked;

please accept our apologies for the mattresses, which you felt were too hard for comfort... it is unfortunate however that you did not mention this issue to our Team;
we have a range of spare mattresses, some of which are softer... our housekeepers would have been happy to replace your mattress with one that is more suited to your personal taste;
our rooms are fitted with firm mattresses by default, as we found from experience that these are usually more popular with guests
the property grounds and our private beach are kept reasonably free of flying pest, to ensure a pleasant stay for our guests;
the same can no be said of the neighbouring wild beaches, which you may have visited while exploring the area... we have placed signs on the beach, to inform our guests that they are leaving our premises, and recommending that they apply an extra layer of insect repellent
food cost turns out to be a frequent topic in Bintan, for guests who are used to Bali or Jogyakarta standards, for example...
this is due to the island's geographical position, being located very close to Singapore, and far from the agricultural producers of Indonesia
please visit us again soon... our softest mattress has already your name on it!

thank you so much for recommending us, and for highlighting the natural beauty of our little beach resort!
we are happy that you enjoyed our facilities, while staying with us, including our own private beach cleaned daily
it is a pity that we did not get to meet personally, as it would have been a pleasure for me to answer your comments regarding our green eco-committment... so, allow me do it here:
our place is probably one of the greenest resorts in Bintan, judging by the density of the canopy coverage, and the wide variety of local plants & trees;
the mangrove river forest, which covers about a quarter of our 8-hectare property, is totally pristine, without a single tree being cut or even trimmed
the sandy soil of the vegetation fringe along the beach is indeed being kept clear, this is for the successful purpose of controlling the insect population, which used to bother some of our guests on the beach;
the trees and shrubs however have not been disturbed, since they are our insurance against erosion caused by the sea waves
we are located on the grounds of an old coconut plantation, which has prompted us to start a project of home-industry VCO (virgin coconut oil) production, to be operational by April this year;
for this purpose, we have been planting more coconut trees, by batches of 100 saplings per month... this young generation has been taking over from the older trees, but some are still quite small
we are growing local carpet grass only around the rooms, as a safety measure against the odd snake or creepy crawlies;
as for the organic garden, strategically located right next to our kitchen, it has been a work in progress... the extremely poor soil quality and the flocks of marauding monkeys have been serious challenges we are trying to address

thanks a lot visiting us, and for appreciating the quality of our service!
allow me to answer your two concerns:
1. as an eco-resort, we have to strike a fine balance between bio diversity and guests comfort... this may result in the presence of some flying insects, especially during the rainy season... we therefore recommend that our guests bring their own insect repellent
2. the locks on the room doors are small but reasonably strong and we have 24-hour security on our premises... as such i am happy to mention that we have not had cases of break-ins or missing guests property, for as long as i can remember... as advertised in the lobby, our Front Office also provides complimentary safe deposit services to our guests, for an even greater peace of mind...

thank you for your visit, and for your review;
i must apologise for not speaking Swedish, and for having to rely on a Google translation, which is hopefully accurate enough...
Bintan is by no means a cheap island... being so close to Singapore, the operating costs are very high, unlike Bali or other Indonesian destinations you may be familiar with;
this fact is reflected in the rates of accommodation, products and services all across the island;
what we can do however as resort operator, is to increase the value our guests get for the money they pay...
this is reflected in your highlights, being the fantastic service delivered by our staff, and the pristine natural environment which we strive to maintain;
accommodation facilities depend on the room rates... some of our rooms have en-suite bathrooms and shower rooms;
as for showers at ambient temperature (25-30 degC), they are indeed one of our remarquable features, which is appreciated by most of our guests, conidering the prevailing hot equatorial climate;
i am very sorry to hear of the mosquito net having some holes... we often find that nets get damaged by our guests themselves, who are not used to these features;
in any case, our Resort Team would have been more than happy to immediately replace the net, if you had mentioned this;
we hope to have you visiting us again!

thank you for staying with us... i am very sorry to hear that your stay was not as enjoyable as it should have been;
our resort has a beautiful 400 meters wide private beach front... the distance between the rooms and the beach depends on the room category... clearly, economy rooms willl be a bit further away than superior or seaview rooms:
the same applies to the free wifi, which is available in all public areas and in superior and seaview rooms... economy pavilions may not get full coverage all the time;
nature is our precious asset... as such, our place is for guests who appreciate natural surroundings, a simple relaxed lifestyle, and who want to recharge their batteries...at the end of their stay, they will be refreshed and again ready for the challenges of city life!
we hope this will entice you to give us a second chance!
