Washington adventure with my Granddaughter

Publié le 22 avr. 2015
Les + : Its location
Les - : Quick breakfast options. There was one "to go" location for coffee and fruit etc. and just one woman trying to provide service for a long line.
Situation : The National Zoo is close by but be ready for walking up hill. The Metro station is right across the street and is the easiest way to navigate around
I booked this hotel based on it's proximity to the Metro and the National Zoo. It is apparently a convention destination because there were several while we were there Wednesday through Friday. The restaurants were a little pricey for dinner with a nine year old but that did not surprise me. The pool was outdoors and not opened yet, a little disappointing but we were too tired from sightseeing to let that spoil anything. The beds were very firm and uncomfortable even for my Granddaughter. I was surprised to see ants in our 5th floor room. The hotel is very spacious and full of chandeliers, my Granddaughter loved everything about the trip. I have only two real complaints; the gift shop scanned two items over their ticketed price ($20.00 for a $5.99 key chain and $30.00 for a $24.00 shirt) and seemed confused as how to rectify it and I was never provided with an accounting of room charges the night before checkout. The desk did not seemed concerned and asked if I wanted a copy emailed to me. Tight for time at that point I just agreed and left for the airport.

Loved the location to the Metro. Station is right outside of the hotel along a main street with many restaraunts. I also enjoyed the 24 hour fitness center on site.

Comfortable and close to the Metro

Publié le 12 avr. 2015
Les + : Easy access to Metro. Updated. Very helpful and nice staff.
Les - : Liquid hand soap in a handheld tube. Paying for use of computer & printing. Could have done a better job with updates; the work looked a bit shoddy.
Situation : Close to cute restaurants. Liked the Umi sushi place. One stop from Dupont Circle.
This was a comfortable hotel with easy access to the Metro station. The rooms have been updated, but the Marriott in Herald Square (NYC) where we just came from, was nicer. My bed was not the best, it was softer than I like, but overall, it was good. I was a little concerned by some of the reviews so I was expecting worse, so was pleasantly surprised by the very helpful staff. Our Internet was free, which was good because a review I read said they had to pay. There is nothing worse than having to pay for in-room wifi in this day and age. I did NOT like that you had to pay to use the business center computers or for printing a couple of pages. It's not terribly expensive, but coming from the Marriott in NYC, they had iMacs in the lobby and they didn't charge for use or for printing. Seriously, these should just be a cost of doing business for them. The partnership with FedEx on this was annoying. One item I suggest they change is the use of the tube liquid hand soap. It makes it seem less sanitary than bar soap because you have to open it, squeeze it and then put it back down with hands that are not clean. Other than that, the stay was nice. I like the little details, so sorry if it's a bit micro.

Second Class Citizen

Publié le 12 avr. 2015
Les + : Close to Metro
Les - : Teach the staff how to clean rooms, be courteous and don't let rooms in a parking garage.
Situation : Near the Zoo.
Ever felt like you were on the outside looking in? If you want the experience, book this hotel at the Expedia rate. They appear to have a special wing with a second rate elevator and second rate service for the price offered. Also the cost of parking is quite high and not included in the room rate. This is a convention hotel, groups get the good rooms and might get decent service (questionable). But if you want the experience of hotel staff pushing ahead of you to exit the elevator, this is the place for you

Close to a Metro, very convenient to everything.

Les - : I suggest more soundproofing if possible - have the doors close quieter perhaps, sometimes too loud - can hear other guests in the hallways.
Situation : Location is great, close by the Metro stop. Near some nice restaurants and other shops. Easy walking distance to hotel.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is beautiful, very nicely decorated and clean. I especially liked the proximity to the Metro station, an easy walk.

The perfect location for my 1st visit to DC

Publié le 4 avr. 2015
This hotel seemed to be in the middle of the mix.... It was an awesome place * The Metro was a stone's throw away... * It's in a nice quaint neighborhood. * The foot traffic is just enough. Not excessive. * I felt very comfortable walking in the area at night. * The restaurants in the area are great. There's a really good place to have Sunday Brunch walking distance. You have plenty to see and easy access from this hotel.
