This hotel was lovely in every way. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was exquisite. The room was modern, fashionable, and functional. Hotel was located in a prime location so we were able to walk to shopping, sightseeing, restaurants.

Excellent BUT not family friendly

Publié le 22 mars 2015 sur Hotels
The staff, the hotel location, the rooms and the cleaniless of the hotel were excellent. Particular attention is given to the infrastructure (i.e. Ginori pieces in the bathroom, leather chairs, luxury mattresses, etc.). Breakfast was also really good. There is also a parking lot in front of the hotel (10 € per day). But there is a big BUT: the hotel has a really strange, unexpected and discriminatory rule. Therefore, I give a rating of only "Average" instead of "Excellent". Children under 10 years are not welcome (they do exeptions with a surcharge of 40 € though, like in our case). The snobbish owner/manager provided us a very strange explanation: "In Austria there are hotels for children only (funny if they go on vacation alone.... :) ". Additionally, the tables at breakfast were arranged for couples only. I had to sit on an other table instead with my wife and my daughter. Suggestions to the owners: be less snobbish, more family-friendly, remove the rule for children under 10 years and you'll become the best luxury boutique hotel in Syracuse.

Great Location, parking on surrounding streets

Publié le 29 sept. 2014 sur Hotels
Fabulous location! Within a few blocks of famous Ortigia Island. Parking on the street is generally available. Breakfast was very good and included fresh fruits, cereals and beautiful local Sicilian baked goods. A full selection of coffees (espresso, latte, cappuccino, americano) was offered. Staff was very helpful in providing any information needed. The only downside was that our room (#4) was in the back overlooking another building. The window latch was broken and would be a concern as a safety hazard if I had stayed longer.

Great value for money, a little way from Ortigia

Publié le 1 sept. 2014
Les + : The price, the cleanliness and Victor the waiter was great. Also great terrace
Les - : The hotel would win a lot more points from us if we were made to feel more welcome. Also Reception didnt help us with any car hire etc
Situation : Well located, 5min walk from Ortigia and close to the action
Hotel was very clean and good value for money. The breakfast was minimal and without any variation. Often felt uncomfortable in the communal areas - I was told not to walk around bare foot at one stage, so I put back on my sandals that had been on the beach and the staff were happier with that, taking tea from breakfast through to the lounge area was frowned upon, taking a tea cup up to the room was noted and we were later quizzed about its whereabouts and we were reprimanded for taking a book from the communal bookshelf up to our room!!

Convenient Location / Friendly Staff

Publié le 23 juil. 2014
We have stayed in 4 hotels during our trip to Sicily and this is by far the better one. Siracusa is not a big town and there is no big name hotels there. The hotel is a 15 minute walk to the main part of town. The INTERNET worked great; much better than the 5 Star hotel we stayed in Taomina. The hotel staff is just plain nice. The shower is the only thing that I don't like but I guess this is a problem all over Europe.

Had the most amazing time at the hotel.....well situated between ortygia and the Greek theatro...a 2 minute walk to ortygia and maybe 20 to Greek theatre.... We were welcomed by the owner and all the staff treated us like kings....rooms are roomy and bathrooms and showers great....everything very clean and fresh looking Staff was very helpful with any questions or needs we had..... The breakfast was awesome , try the ricotta tart if they have ....only regret was that we slept in first morning and were to late to take advantage of the Great breakfast.... Highly recommend it....and try to relax on the roof terrace great view at night

The perfect boutique hotel experience

Publié le 14 juil. 2014
Les + : Wonderful people. Perfect location. Superb breakfast. Classic yet understated design with every amenity one would expect but with a personal touch.
Situation : Two minutes' walk from the island of Ortigia. Ten minutes' walk from the train and bus stations and access to Noto, Modica, Ragusa, Taormina.
Siracusa itself is a beautiful place - from the typically stunning piazzas of Ortigia to the ancient Greek and Roman ruins in the Archeological Park - and there are some equally impressive places nearby which are well worth a visit (we'd particularly recommend the baroque city of Noto, half an hour away by train, as well as the clifftop wonder of Taormina and, if you're feeling adventurous, a walk up Mount Etna - sturdy shoes and an extra layer of clothing advised). But what made the trip particularly memorable for us was the Hotel Cavalieri and its owners and staff. We travel a lot, for work and pleasure, and we've never had such a delightful hotel experience. In fact we made such a connection with the people at the Cavalieri that we felt on departure as if we were leaving friends behind. Their professionalism is second-to-none but more than that, their warm and natural personalities shine through in every interaction. Vitor, at front of house, conducts himself with such integrity and care that he becomes your personal champion for the duration of your stay: a friendlier and more personable individual it would be difficult to find anywhere. We were also lucky enough to be staying while the owners were around and we had many conversations with them: a thoroughly charming and impressive couple who were always keen to share the many features of their city and also to learn about us. Such people are rare and to be cherished. The Hotel Cavalieri is a home from home.
