Difficult to Review

Publié le 2 mars 2015
Les + : Location is perfect, couldn't choose better. And the area is safe. It may look sketchy as first for newbies to Rome, but it isn't.
Les - : Insulation that would help buffer noise both in the internal and external walls. More storage space in rooms since they are big enough.
Situation : Campo Fiori is a great place for American type breakfasts or an espresso to start the day. Great restaurants in Trastevere for dinner.
This is a difficult review to write. I was meeting my son for a week, so it was a guys tour and we weren't looking for luxury. First off, there are some very good and even excellent things about Bollo. By far, and really the only reason to stay here, is the location. Down the street from Campo Fiori and 5 minute walk from Piazza Novona, 10 minutes to Pantheon, Via Corso, and Trastervere. Not much longer to Capitoline and Forum. As far as the hotel, we were in Room 1 on 1st floor, which was big by Rome hotel standards, and the twin beds were very comfortable. Also good was the manager Antonio who was always very helpful. However, what really was almost intolerable was the noise from other guests (thin walls) in their rooms and as they came and went through the lobby which is more of a foyer and just outside Room 1. This went on until well after midnight every night and depending on the group was quite loud and sometimes they lingered in the foyer before heading to their rooms. The noise from outside was also "unbuffered" and lasted even later each night as people came and went from the Campo bars. In the room itself, there were no dressers with drawers to put clothes and there was often a musty and at times smoky odor. The worse part of the physical room "amenities" was the shower, which you had to turn sideways to enter (good look if you're a big and tall person, say 200 pounds). Hot water was always there, BUT for about 45 seconds, so be efficient with showering.

Not a typical hotel, more of appt. But outstanding

Publié le 15 janv. 2015
I travelled throughout Europe for a whole month. Every single day I stayed at a different hotel because of deals etc. This hotel was great and I would absolutely stay there again! Not your typical hotel though. Its more of an apartment, which I found very pleasing. Its a great place to stay.

Good size apartment in the very centre of Rome

Publié le 14 janv. 2015
Les + : Location. Size.
Les - : Better water pressure in the shower. Microwave.
Situation : The Vatican, The Colosseum etc
Bollo apartments were easy to book with and very reasonably priced. We were met by the receptionist who was very friendly and helpful. The apartment has a proper kitchen with just enough utensils, crockery etc to cater for a family of 4. There's no microwave, but a hob, small oven and fridge-freezer. The beds are nice and comfortable, the heating was good (in January), there was a washing machine, and the bathroom was well equipped and a good size. The only issue being the water pressure in the shower which was quite low, but just about good enough to live with for a week. The apartment was nice and clean, and we were pleasantly surprised by the size considering the price (although it was mid-week at the beginning of Jan). The location is the main attraction for this place. Set in the beautiful cobbled streets of central Rome, surrounded by restaurants and piazzas, we walked 20 minutes to The Vatican and 20 minutes in the opposite direction to The Colesseum. All with a (ponderous) 6-year old! There was certainly no need to hire a car.

Convenient location for a good price.

Publié le 2 janv. 2015
Les + : The location was great. Antonio, the property manager who was very helpful. Comfortable beds.
Les - : The bathroom was very small with no where to put your toiletries.
Situation : Walking distance to the Pantheon, Piazza Navonna, Roman Forum and Coliseum. Although on a side street we could hear people talking late at night.
Overall a good experience. Room was cramped though. We did cook one night in the kitchenette and once we mentioned to Antonio that the wifi wasn't working, he reset it and it was better the rest of the visit.

Ottima posizione

Publié le 14 déc. 2014
