Decent hotel

Publié le 27 janv. 2015
Les + : Price, location.
Les - : the minor maintenance issues mentioned above
Situation : The Swedes Restaurant is a block away and down the stairs, highly recommended!
The first thing you must keep in mind with Amaca is that you get what you pay for. This is definitely a budget hotel. However it served its purpose; it was conveniently located in the Zona Romantica (word of advice, print some driving directions from the airport for your cab driver; mine got lost). It was perfect for a cheapy long weekend trip to PV. I didn't use a cab once while I was there, I hiked up and down the stairs to and from the beach and restaurants etc. People less sure-footed will likely need to take cabs, but those in decent shape will find themselves from room to sand in 10 minutes or so by foot. The A/C worked well (although it occasionally squeaked), the view was wonderful, and the bed was comfortable. The cleaning staff did a good job. Staff was friendly, although I did get locked out of the hotel after staggering back from a late night of drinking. Shouting hello though the locked gate brought an apologetic staff member running, I think he'd locked the door when he stepped away from the front desk for a few moments, so, really, security is fairly decent. Its definitely not posh, or new, or updated. There were some minor maintenance items, the light flickered in the bathroom, the shower head needed to be changed, the Wi-Fi was weak (and often non-existent) in my third floor room. All in all, its almost like staying in someone's modest apartment. If I'm on my own for a long weekend again, I'll probably stay again.

Close to beach BUT...

Les + : Very clean - some rooms have an ocean view with balcony!
Les - : Staff to client communication.
We stayed at Amaca hotel for 4 nights. It was clean and friendly however the internet AND cable were down for 2 nights and the staff did not inform us. Quite disappointing as we booked the hotel to AT LEAST have wifi. No apologies and no reimbursement (a portion of our stay would have sufficed). Laid back atmosphere, but could be MUCH better.

Do not stay here

Nothing like the pictures. No dead bolts. Flimsy lock. Paper thin towels. Towels looked dirty. On a very steep hill. Shades did not cover window.

You get what you pay for!

Because of the low price we expected some things to go wrong. The best things about this hotel is it's employees and location. During our 7 day stay, the pool was out of service for 5 and for half a day we had no water nor electricity due to repairs. It can be managed a lot better.

Wonderful place to stay.

I am so glad that we decided to stay at the Amaca! The building is very charming and has the flavor of the city within it's rooms. The furnishings are basic, but the beds are very comfortable. There's no room without a great view. And the rooftop patio is worth booking the hotel room.

Comfortable hotel near the beach and restaurants.

Publié le 8 janv. 2015
We had a decent time. The hotel is gay central though as it's in plans altas of old town but it's no big deal as it was comfortable and quiet at night. I'd stay again because of it's central location in old town and the staff were helpful.

I would not recommend this hotel.

Publié le 4 janv. 2015
We had no hot water until approximately 24 hours prior to the end of our stay. We were assured that the issue would be remedied however, that was not the case. We requested another room and were told one would be available the following day but that didn't happen. There was no bathroom door. The internet connection worked approximately 2% of the time and we had to walk 15 minutes away to find an internet connection. The hotel is located high on a hill in a poorly lit area. In order to access the beach we were obliged to purchase something from a restaurant each time I would not recommend this hotel to anybody.

The staff is friendly. Fast check in/out.Clean and spacious room, comfortable bed. Noise in the morning from another hotel under construction. Be prepare to climb lots of stairs whe returning from Zona Romantica not necesarily welcome after a long night out.
