Well positioned

Publié le 23 sept. 2014
Les + : The overall friendliness and a good degree of comfort.
Les - : The lighting in the rooms.
Situation : Very handy for the station, the Mercato Centrale, the Duomo and - in fact - most of the major attractions of Firenze. Noise levels were moderate.
The hotel was a good base for daily excursions. The weather was very hot and humid and it was a great advantage to be able to just call in for a cooling and refreshing shower two or three times a day in a well appointed and clean bathroom. Friendly staff - unpretentious and good value.

Well priced, friendly staff

Publié le 20 sept. 2014
Staff were very helpful and gave great recommendations for restaurants nearby. We walked from the train station and was very straightforward, took about 10minutes. Breakfast on the verandah outside was very pleasant. Like most places in Florence it was easy walking to most of the sights. Only downside was the building happening next door. Felt like the jackhammer or whatever it was would come through our bedroom wall!

Girls' weekend away

Location was perfect. Hotel staff were lovely. Guiseppe was so helpful with restaurant recommendations. Rooms were lovely but try to avoid one at the front if the hotel as the road and park are quite noisy during the night.

Excellent hotel.

Publié le 26 août 2014
Les + : The location, the hotel had lots of character, has bar with a great little terrace. A very friendly and relaxed attitude.
Les - : Our room size was just adequate, however other rooms looked bigger so depends on each individual room. However everything else was really good.
Situation : Hotel is in an excellent location. Less than 10 mins walk from station. 5 mins from fantastic market and 10-20 mins walk from all major attractions
Florence is a fantastic city. 3 days is not enough time to see all the attractions. Quality of food is excellent. People are very friendly and the his a lively buzz about the City. Hotel is in an excellent location. Our room on 2nd floor to back had lovely authentic view - could see Duomo from window. The included breakfast was excellent. Would highly recommend this hotel to others and would stay again. Staff very helpful and friendly

Decent for a night or two

Publié le 15 août 2014
Les + : location
Les - : air conditioning and adding a little shelf in the shower for toiletries
Situation : everything is close by
We looked for a place close to the market and attractions and it is that. I was disappointed because the AC was poor. It is a wall mounted unit close to the ceiling that took hours to actually make a difference. The shower was very small and had no place to put your shampoo etc so it was hard to move around in it let alone pick up a shampoo bottle from the floor. The breakfast was good.

Comfortable & friendly 3 star hotel

Publié le 12 août 2014
Les + : The friendly staff, location and comfortable beds.
Les - : Shower good, but extremely tiny with no shelf to put your soap & shampoo on. Just a small quibble but it was a bit awkward to use.
Me & a friend stayed at the Caravaggio for 2 weeks in August 2014 using Florence as a base to explore Tuscany, which we did by public transport - mainly train. The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from the main train station, so was really handy. Although the hotel isn't in the absolute centre of the old city this makes it all the better. The location for us was great, and it's only about a 5-10 minutes walk to the main covered market & the Duomo. We requested a quiet room in advance & were very happy with our room on the 2nd floor. It was quiet & looked out onto a back garden. It had air conditioning, a small kettle & cups, plus teas & coffees, which were re-stocked every day. There is also a TV, free wifi, small fridge, in-room safe & hairdryer. The beds were very comfortable! All the staff, from the hotel receptionists to the chambermaids & breakfast staff, were very friendly & helpful throughout. There is a lift to the each floor & a small bar & sitting area in the main reception that we didn't use. Breakfast is good with a decent choice of cereals, pastries & hams, bread and cheese etc. Get down for breakfast early & you'll be able to sit on one of the 3 tables on the terrace outside. There are lots of little supermarkets & cafes in the area so you will always find something to eat nearby. Just remember that on checking out you need to pay the city tax in cash, which is €3 per person per night up to a max of 7 nights, so we paid €42 (2 people for 14 nights).

Nice basic hotel in good location

Publié le 1 juil. 2014
Staff were very helpful. Room was small and basic but didn't spend a lot of time in the room so wasn't a problem. Breakfast was continental buffet but plenty of choice. There was air con, safe, tv and small fridge in the room. Our room overlooked the rear so no noise issues. 10 minute walk from SMN and about the same to Duomo

Good location, average hotel

Publié le 27 juin 2014 sur Hotels.com
The hotel is located within walking distance to the Firenze SMN station and city centre which is very convenient. Condition of the hotel is not great. An old hotel that is in critical need for a makeover. As we arrived in the morning, our room is not ready. When we asked to leave our baggage so we can walked around first, we were told to just leave them in a corner. Although everything is intact when we returned, we didn't feel that our baggage was in good hands. The flooring of the room is of, what I believe, to be terracotta. I've never seen a hotel room with such flooring. Just didn't feel clean and they only provided one pair of bathroom slippers though my room is a quadruple room. Breakfast spread is limited and they are slow in replenishing the food.
