Motel close to Humboldt State

Publié le 18 mai 2015
Fine for crashing out, unfortunately my room did not have a fridge or microwave. Toilet ran, had to rattle handle to fix it. Clean and very friendly, courteous staff.

Necessity Allows Discomfort

Publié le 2 mai 2015
I stayed four nights and every day and night there were a group of men 'hanging out' by yhe door I used to enter the hotel. Cigarettes butts and empty vodka botttles were left each morning. No action from staff to remedy the situation left me feeling less than cared for!

Great value in Arcata.

Les + : The staff was wonderfully efficient and responsive. The breakfast included meat and eggs, much better than the usual cereal and toast.
We needed a room for the night while we visited our daughter at Humboldt State. This hotel was perfect for us. It is in a quieter neighborhood than the other hotels in Arcata, while it still has very good access to the freeway.

Convienet and pleasant stay

Publié le 29 mars 2015
We booked this hotel on our trip to the redwood forest. We stayed 1 night 1 day, and I was surprised. The town of Arcata is pretty iffy, but the hotel was clean, the beds were comfy, and the stay were very friendly. We were also surprised that they had a full breakfast, not a simple cereal, coffee, and fruit (like some hotels). They offered teas, coffee, milk, juices, cereal, eggs, ham, a waffle maker, oatmeals, and a variety of breads. We were quite impressed. Only down fall was the kitchen/dining area was pretty small so you had to wait to sit. (They don't let you take to your room). It was pretty foggy and cold up there, but the heater worked perfectly. They offered cable tv, so my kids were happy campers. This isn't too far a drive from the redwood national park, and you drive through a lot of the redwoods driving up the 101 to get to this hotel. Lobby was nice and clean, and the receptionist was very nice. Of course this isn't the ritz Carlton, and it's not super updated...but it's good for a good price. There are some upgrades that could be done, however...it's a lot like staying at your grandmas house. It was comfy. They had a flat screen tv. Blankets were comfy, not like those motel 6 quilts. We would stay again. We enjoyed our stay. We do not recommend the restaurant "Toni's" next to hotel. We read great yelp reviews...over priced and not good food.

Nice place away from home.

We've stayed here several times when we 're transporting our granddaughter to/from Humboldt State University. It's comfortable, the price is modest and the breakfast is good. We'll be back.

Pleasant stay

Publié le 10 mars 2015
Les + : Friendly staff.
Les - : Better sound proof between rooms.
Situation : 30 minutes from Redwood National Park. 10 minutes from Eureka.
We stayed here for 2 nights. Convenient location closed to freeway. For the price they charged I didn't expect much. Hotel staff was friendly, complimentary breakfast includes eggs, sausage, and waffle, which is better than other hotel breakfast with donuts and bagels only. The walls between rooms are quite thin, you can hear you next door neighbors' conversation.

Overall Below Average Hotel Experience

Publié le 2 mars 2015
Les + : They had some hot food item choices for breakfast. There was a nice flat screen TV that included Showtime. The shower and bathroom were fairly nice
Les - : Deodorize room. Provide extra blanket in room. Have a controlled temp refrigerator. Assure daily attention by housekeeping staff!
Situation : An absolutely beautiful area. Mixed habitats of ocean, bay, marsh, mudflats, dunes, forests, rivers, hills and pastureland. Outdoor lover's rejoice
I stayed three nights. The first morning housekeeping staff asked if I wanted my room cleaned that day. I said it was okay to skip it as I had just arrived the night before. The following day I was out all day. When I returned my room had not been touched by Housekeeping - - now I'm going into the third night since there was any cleaning! Trash cans full, no kleenex, dirty linen, no coffee for the coffee maker etc. It was too late in the day for management to do anything except give me some coffee. This is the first time I have had a hotel fail to clean my room my entire stay. Add to this, the room had a less than fresh smell from the get-go, the sink didn't drain well, the refrigerator froze my food (I saw no temp control) and you could hear the neighbors through the walls. Also, there wasn't an extra blanket in the room forcing me to run the heater at night ,which I dislike because of noise and loss of humidity. Without the heater I had trouble sleeping because I was cold.

convenient, dog-friendly hotel

Publié le 17 févr. 2015
Les + : The location, staff, dog-friendly
Les - : the bathtub grout could use a good scrubbing in the corners and the décor could use an update.
Situation : restaurants, grocery store, gas stations are nearby.
I've stayed at the Arcata Quality Inn a few times on my way from Bay Area to Oregon. It is not fancy but it is a convenient stopping place about halfway. The hotel is easy to get to from the freeway, is near a grocery store and gas station and restaurants. The room is comfortable and a good size with a microwave and fridge. the bed is comfortable with plenty of pillows. There are grassy areas for the dogs. The continental breakfast is not fancy, but you can take a cup to coffee and a yogurt or muffin to go and get back on the road. The staff are always friendly and courteous.
