A one night stay.

Publié le 14 avr. 2014
Les + : The service from the employees.
Les - : The beds and pillows were uncomfortable. The showers as well were a little hard to use.
Situation : The beach is only 7 minutes away. Also HSU is walking distance if you want to visit without paying for parking.
It was a comfortable hotel to stay for a night. But I wouldn't stay for more than a night because they beds and pillows were a little uncomfortable. Wish I had requested a fridge though. Staff was very nice and helpful.

Clean and comfortable hotel

We stayed at the Motel 8 in arcata the prior night, and then stayed at the quality in the next day. This was by far a much better stay. Great view, comfy bed, cool tv. This place is cheap and perfect.

Mostly, just what we needed.

Publié le 16 mars 2014
Les + : The staff and the convenience.
Les - : Better noise control (thin walls/loud TVs) -- and a little 'fridge in the room would be nice.
Situation : Easy for a visit to the University -- and a short drive to the downtown strip.
Satisfied, and all was as expected -- except for the loud TV from the room next door. Staff was sweet and helpful -- and the place was clean.

Les + : Continental breakfast. Nice staff.
Les - : Quality of hotels cleanliness.
Situation : Nothing to my interest....
We were on a road trip and decided to stay in Arcata after visiting the Redwoods. Overall, I wish we would have kept driving and found a better town to stay in. The hotel staff was very friendly, especially the lady who works at night. But the hotel was very disappointing. The room smelled like smoke, even though it said non-smoking. We turned on the heater and it smelled like chemicals. The bathroom was pretty gross. I didn't even want to take a shower because the tub was old and looked crusty. I think the rooms are just extremely old and need to be updated. The wall paper was coming off and the tile grout was black. Definitely not very sanitary looking. The beds were fine... overall you get what you pay for. There didn't seem to be very many options (hotel wise) in this town, so I am not sure if the others are similar to this one. They did have a continental breakfast, which was nice since there is nothing really nearby, except for fast food.

Les + : Convenient to family in Arcata.
Les - : Physical facilities are very dated and worn and difficult to keep clean. Hotel needs refurbishment drastically.
Situation : The forest dunes just north are amazing, and well worth the short drive.

Beds were uncomfortable, very hard. Bathroom smelled moldy. Could hear every step from the upstairs guest. Television programming very limited. Continental breakfast had waffle maker, toaster, sausage links and ham for hot items. Two choices of cereal, yogurt, muffins, apples and bananas for cold items. Coffee, tea, and two kinds of juice, no hot chocolate.

It was quite OK for the price.

Les + : It was a very average hotel. Nothing jumping out to remember or talk about. The staff were very good.
Les - : Ok, definitely needs to provide extra (like Best Western where I stayed at Crescent City the night before) such as microwave oven and refrig.
Situation : The location is excellent near 101, yet no traffic noise.
It was ok, no more no less relative to how much I paid for it. Free breakfast was good - just wished they also included potatoes in the menu.

Buyer Beware

Publié le 6 sept. 2013
Les + : I won't not same at this hotel again. I need not like it.
Les - : Cleanliness, service and an extreme discounted rate (around 25% of the rack rate)
Situation : Very near the Highway 5 interchange. But the location is not worth the inconvenience of the stay.
We were very disappointed with the Grants Pass La Quinta. The room had a strong scent of urine. It was like sleep in an alley. We will not return to this hotel at any price. The price was far too high. And even though our complaints got us a 10% discount, it wasn't worth what we went through. The management was not very sympathetic what our experience. We needed feel like anyone really cared. That being said, you could encounter this same experience. Don't waste your money. This hotel should be charging on the low low end of the scale - not the upper end!

Nice big room

My only suggestion would be to have a microwave and a refrigerator in the room considering the price of the room. Went to get a cold drink from the vending machine and it was empty. Rather disappointing.

Nice hotel close to our destination.

Les + : Location, friendliness of the staff and cleanliness.
Les - : More comfortable beds.....they weren't terrible, but they were a little springy.
Situation : The hotel is close to Humbolt State University, redwoods, the coast, etc. Arcata's Main Street circle is close with eating facilities and shopping.
Nice hotel for an overnight stay. Close to Humbolt State University which worked out perfect for our college visit. The staff was very friendly and the room was pleasing.
