Curtains would have been better than blinds. Room slightly spartan, but very good nevertheless

zentrale, moderne Unterkunft

Close to everything

Publié le 25 nov. 2014
This hotel is in the older part of Edinburgh, somewhat out of the way of the hustle and bustle, which I like. That being said, it was the perfect location because it was walking distance to everything. Even my mother, who is 61 and used to more "upscale" lodging (this is a "younger/trendier place"), was really happy with the hotel and it's location. Also, we didn't have any issues with noise, even though the bar outside was packed (after Scotland had an unfortunate loss against England in football), but we didn't hear a thing in our room. The staff were friendly, and one of the mornings we left a "do not disturb" hanger on the door, so the housekeeping left us a lovely box with all the items they would have replaced during a cleaning (soaps, coffee, tea, towels). Overall it was a great experience and I would certainly stay here again.

A stone's throw from the Grassmarket

Publié le 31 oct. 2014
Les + : Everything
Les - : Nothing
Situation : 2 minutes form the Grassmarket. Great for the shops, sightseeing and gigs. Dungeons a short walk away.
Never stayed here before, but we will definitely be back. The hotel is quirky, the rooms comfortable, and ridiculously close to the centre of Edinburgh. Loved the iPod docking station in the wall of the room, which relayed your music to the bathroom while you got ready. The staff were welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful. I will be recommending this hotel to everyone I know, & we will definitely be back for another memorable stay. Thanks.

Excellent location, slow internet

Publié le 21 oct. 2014
Les + : Location
Les - : Internet speed/connectivity
Situation : Offers everything within walking distance
The hotel is in an excellent location to do sightseeing by foot and, if you are looking for a good scene, offers a nice club on the ground floor. However, the internet is so slow that it did not even process many of my requests. Unless you are not looking for internet while you are visiting, I would not recommend this hotel.

Its a nice place -just don't get room on 1st floor

Publié le 25 sept. 2014
Les + : I liked the location, it was easy to walk to the Royal Mile and Grass Market - as well as the many stores and pubs in the area.
Les - : Don't get a room on the first floor. Just a suggestion. Especially room 104 - unless you can sleep through loud noises.
Situation : Easy access to Royal Mile and Grass Market - as well as the tour bus locations. You can walk to see a lot from this hotel. Happy with the location.
We were tired travelers and were put in a room right across the hall from the door - to the bar attached to the hotel. After a visit to the front desk, they were able to move us floors/rooms and found the new room much more reasonable. The rooms are nice and fairly new; the beds are comfortable and there are safes in the rooms along with beverages and hair dryers. The staff was nice - and we were much pleased to have not had to stay in the room across from the bar. There is a busy inside/outside bar/pub in the courtyard outside the front door to the hotel. Which made it fun, loud and interesting at the same time. Great for those ages 20's to 30's. Didn't strike me as a family friendly hotel and don't recall seeing any families while there. We had a strange dizziness feeling every time we waited for elevator...but it went away as soon as we stepped off the elevator to the 3rd floor. I would recommend this place to friends travelling without their young. Night life is great and very central.

Party Central

Publié le 21 sept. 2014
Les - : Better exterior signage, perhaps a way-in that bypasses the crowds from Three Sisters.
Situation : BrewDog, Grassmarket, Royal Mile
Once you get inside, its a pleasant-enough place. Comfortable bed, spacious bedroom, large wardrobe. Staff were pleasant and helpful. And as I am a craft beer nerd, I was please to discover it was right next door to BrewDog's Edinburgh pub. The main drawback was that Stay Central shares a courtyard with the Three Sisters bar and restaurant--very popular with nearby U of Edinburgh students and others. Not a bad thing in itself, but makes the entrance hard to find, difficult to navigate when the courtyard is full of folks watching football (soccer) on the large screen. The rooms are all on the opposite side of the building from the party spot, so for the most part noise was well-managed, but on Saturday night the noise impacted my room into the wee hours. Finally, for those not familiar with Edinburgh--the map can be misleading. Cowgate, the street on which it is located, is lower than surrounding streets and therefore does not directly connect with most of them, making for a bit more walking than the map might suggest.

Beautiful rooms in a central location

Publié le 3 sept. 2014 sur Hotels.com
The hotel rooms are very attractive, comfortable beds and nice touches with the sound system and toiletries provided. good location very central. Only drawback with our particular room was that only cold water available for our one night stay. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
