Major Construction

Publié le 4 juil. 2015
This hotel should not be open while it is going through this "updating". For a $100 a night, I didn't expect the Ritz, however with the 3 Star review that was on Expedia, I figured it wouldn't be a bad place to stay for the night since we were visiting U Chicago (and it's only a couple of miles from there). First, there is no security and anyone can walk right up the stairs to the rooms. The hallway were unlit, and inside the room lights were broken, the curtains were falling off the track, threadbare towels, and a couple of moths were flying around. The desk clerk told me that they are in the process of becoming a La Quinta hotel and gave us coupons for the breakfast buffet - which was actually pretty good. I'm not a hotel snob, and realize you generally get what you pay for, but I would find another place to stay.

Don't stay here

Room was in remodeling area. Lots of dust and fumes from construction. Carpet was dirty, bed had an odor and door wouldn't close tightly.

Renovations made it not as enjoyable!

Publié le 27 juin 2015
No one let us know about the renovations. There was no pool, our door leading to our door to our room was broke. The a/c was broke and sonic stayed very humid in the room and we couldn't sleep through the night. The restaurant was good, but expect to wait a while because it's short staffed during the week. It's a great location and I'm sure when it is done being remodeled it will be very nice but until then stay away!!!!!!

I received a call on 6/1/2015 at 11:30 PM Chicago time telling me that I should not be going to the hotel because they (Chicago Lake Shore Dr Hotel) did not have any room for me. Can you believe this? I had already reserved four weeks in advance through Expedia and receiving a call the night of my arrival was totally outrageous. They said in order to accommodate me, they had arranged another hotel for me to stay at and that hotel was located 40 minutes away from where Chicago Lake Shore Hotel was located. If I really wanted to stay 40 minutes further, I would have chosen that to begin with. Of course they paid for the hotel but that hotel was not good, safe and clean at all. I had to pay for the second night but the hotel should have accommodated me since they are the ones messed up with my reservation and did not create a good and safe environment for me. I will never go through Expedia to reserve and will not use Chicago Lake Shore Dr Hotel. By the way, Chicago Lake Shore Hotel has changed name now and they are called La Quinta. Don't forget that when you make reservation. I expected the hotel to be much much more courteous to this situation but have not seen that yet

nice hotel

Publié le 4 juin 2015
We expected the hotel to be further away from downtown . We were told by train officers and taxi drivers that it was an unsafe area. Not to go by public transport. However we found it perfectly safe and a lovely place to stay. Taxis were reliable and took 15 minutes to town and cost $14. We were very happy with stay.

Under construction and should not have been open

Publié le 31 mai 2015
Like camping out in a construction zone. Everything was filthy. No breakfast, the coffee tasted like soap and the room had bugs.
