Hotel simples e bem localizado

Publié le 22 avr. 2015

Worst hotel experience

Publié le 4 avr. 2015
Situation : It was a decent location for downtown.
Arriving late to Cartagena, we wanted to book a lower priced and decent hotel the first night. The room was awful. No windows, hard mattress, no hot water, and outisde noise. The worst part were the snacks eaten by mice with leftover mice droppings. It was not what we expected and certainly not what the pictures displayed. Thank goodness this was only for one night.

Great price for Cartagena.

Publié le 3 avr. 2015
Les + : Free breakfast, room cleaned daily, friendly staff
Les - : I guess they could insulate the walls more because you can hear people in the next room from the bathroom.
Situation : It's a close walk to attractions in the walled city. The area is commercial so there isn't much to do but shop. There are supermarkets close by.
The hotel was good for the price. It also includes a free buffet breakfast with a large selection of food. The staff is friendly as well. You should stay here if you are a budget traveler and just want a basic hotel room. I don't know why so many people are complaining on the reviews here. If you want a nice hotel then pay for one. You can't expect a 5 star hotel and only pay $40 a night. Cartagena is expensive and this is a great deal. The area is fine and wasn't dangerous. Maybe people think that because there are a lot of Colombians drinking and partying in that part of town. It is noisy, but not so bad after 10pm or so.

1) Perfect location. less than 2 min walk to wall city 2) Hotel staff was great. Very accommodating 3) Ask for room on the 8th, 9th or 10th floor. They have excellent views 4) Despite the description, this hotel does not Have a business center 5) Buffett style breakfast was good and consists of eggs, fruit, cereal, breads, sausage, juices and coffee 6) hotel is old so you will find many dated and/or broken pieces lime old door knobs, shower handles, TVs, etc..

Great for the price!

Publié le 3 mars 2015
This place was great for the money you pay. They gave me a glass of juice when I checked in and seriously, for the money I paid it was great. I was traveling alone and I felt safe in this hotel. The street was a little noisy but I was on the top floor, so i didn't hear much of that. Plus I had a great view of the walled city (which was only a few blocks away) and the ocean. The staff was also super friendly and helpful. My last day there the bellhop lugged my suitcase a few blocks to flag me down a cab. It's a little run down but the breakfast buffet, clean room and friendly staff more than made up for that.

Good budget hotel near Monument of India Catalina

Publié le 23 févr. 2015
Les + : The hotel was able to arrange the same-day afternoon tour to Castillo de San Felipe and Cerro de la Ropa though I arrived in the morning on the day.
Les - : Hot water shower may be added though Cartagena is always hot and humid. So, regular water shower was O.K. most of the time.
Situation : Walking distance to sights within Old Walls. Nearby MoneyGram was selling postal stamps, too. Nextdoor cafe was convenient for a yogurt purchase.
Though the reception had its somewhat limited English ability, the staffs there were eager to try helping my tour needs. The AC did not work in the first room, but the staff quickly moved me to another room with a working AC. There was a convenient fridge in the room.

Not far from walled city

Publié le 13 févr. 2015
Les + : I was looking for budget hotel, I paid 30 US Dollars a nite. I think I got good value for my money, compared to prices of other hotels.
Les - : No hotwater
Situation : Within walking distance of walled city.
Check in went smooth. Room was clean, bathroom door frayed at the bottom, no big deal. Wi fi worked fine and a/c was good. in room fridge kept everything ice cold.

Inexpensive hotel with amenities to match.

Publié le 1 févr. 2015
Les + : Good view of Castillo San Felipe. Reasonable distance to the Walled City.
Les - : More towels. Useable wifi. Functional Showers.
Situation : Relatively close to the Old City.
2 night stay. A 10-15 minute walk to the Walled City and roughly 15-20 minutes to Castillo San Felipe de Barajas. Hotel borders a noisy public square with a fair amount of foot and vehicular traffic that can be very bothersome to light sleepers or visitors who simply prefer peace and quiet. Wifi is available but it was very spotty and inconsistent and only useful for 5 minutes or so when it worked. Room included a very basic bathroom providing only one towel, taking a shower was the equivalent to bathing under a cold water only garden hose. Hotel is very dorm-like and not any better than a hostel but for more money. I've made 5 trips to Cartagena and have spent approximately 15 nights in the city and this is the only one of 8 locations that I have patronized (ranging from basic hotels to B&Bs to higher end establishments) that I would not recommend. There are simply too many other options available in the area that offer a better location, more amenities, and/or lower prices than you will pay here. Far too much money for what amounts to extremely basic accommodations.
