Small but comfortable

Les - : Free internet.
Situation : Take the BTS to Saphin Taksin and switch to the river boat express to visit the Grand Palace by day or Asiatique by night.
I stayed in a superior room at Holiday Inn Bangkok for a week. The room was small but comfortable, and the location was fantastic for sightseeing and eating off of food vendors. Its proximity to Super C made it easy to purchase fruit and other snacks for off-hours, and the hotel supplied basic toiletries that you may have forgotten, from loofahs to combs. After a of touring around Bangkok, the bed was wonderful; not too hard or soft. The room was kept very clean, and the hotel was good about providing bottled water for free. The internet, however is another story. The maid did have a habit of forgetting to replace bathrobes, for some strange reason, but two phone calls to the front desk fixed the problem. Also, a corner of the bathroom was made of glass and covered by wooden blinds. It's meant to be an aesthetic feature, but I kept walking into said blinds while trying to reach the bed. It's difficult to see the Holiday Inn sign from a taxi, as it's blocked by the BTS. If your driver gets confused, its entrance is directly across from the Continental. There's a McDonald's across the street as well. If worst comes to worst, tell them to let you off at the Chitlom station--one of their staircases lets you off right at the driveway to the hotel.

Les + : Pleasant clean surroundings, good restaurant. Breakfast disappointing - not catered to westerners at all. No bacon!
Les - : the swimming pool is too small and in a shaded area.
Situation : Pamela thai silk shop is very good, although everything is standard price of 10,000 baht.
Hotel was lovely, strongly advise not to book a public tour through hotel, we did, it was horrendous. Spent an hour collecting passengers in a mini bus not fit for cattle. Tour guide useless, no information given at all. a seven hour trip ended up being 14 hours. Driver did not return us to the hotel, but abandoned us in middle of nowhere, citing that he worked for an agency and was going home! Unforgiveable. When i complained, the hotel manager was very nice, and gave us free dinner, free wifi, and deducted the cost of the trip.

Excellent hotel situated beside Skytrain station

Les + : Located beside a Chit Lom station, rooms very spacious and hotel restaurant fabulous (Charm Thai). Staff very welcoming and helpful.
Les - : The hotel charges for wifi which most hotels do not. We were given free wifi access after our tour disaster but they should make it standard.
Situation : Shopping centers all around, one stop on BTS to Siam Square but Skytrain access made it easy to go everywhere in the city.
No complaints about hotel room or staff. Pool area not very inviting but we hadn't intended to use it much anyway as visiting Bangkok us not a "pool" holiday! Be aware, don't take the "bus tours" but instead get a private tour for your party to sightsee. We booked a tour to a River Kwai, elephant village etc. nice places, but the tour company wasted hours (and I mean hours!) of time picking up other people. We changed buses so often that in the end we had a driver who didn't even know where our hotel was to return us back safely, we ended up having to get out, walk and find a train station and make our own way back, not good in a strange city for two women on their own at night. However as we had booked it through the hotel, when we complained to the duty manager she instantly made sure we were not charged for the tour and gave us our dinner in the hotel restaurant free that evening (we had been away for 14 hours with just lunch provided at the River Kwai, a small bowl of rice/chicken, so be prepared and take snacks if you do these trips!). Couldn't recommend the restaurant in the hotel highly enough - Charm Thai. Food superb.

Just little unhappy dutriny stay at friday my table lamp light spoil so i asked room service to change for me and she replied me she will ask maintenance come to check ard 10 mins i been waiting more then 1hrs the maintenance never come at the end i go and complain front counter

Great place to stay in Bangkok

Les + : Location, food and service.
Les - : Personnel at the reception should be more engaging and provide a better customer service.
Situation : Location provides easy access to the BTS service and there are several very good shopping malls around.
Excellent place to stay, good level of service, friendly staff and great food. I strongly recommend the hotel for anybody wanting to have easy access to public transportation, it has a great location.

Situation : Next to Sky Train (Chidlom)
It was an unexpected but pleasant surprise when we were "upgraded" to a higher class of room (from deluxe to executive) upon a arrival. This, we were told, was due to the high local demand (which is good news for the hotel). During our 8-day stay from reception till discharge, we were impressed by the hotel's high level of customer service for guests: greetings with broad friendly smiles and helpful responses from staff (outside the lift, during breakfast, getting a cab to the airport etc). The housekeeping staff and the greeting staff at the entrances were attentive, cheerful and upbeat to one and all. The bed-linen and towels were generally new and clean; breakfast options were wide.

The hotel is well connected to the Chidlom Skytrain. The room was of a good size as was the toilet. The room was cleaned quite late in the day but a good job was done. The buffet breakfast was quite extensive. Communication was not very easy as the staff is not particularly fluent in English.

Only disappointment is that you have to book through the hotel to get points for your stay. For frequent business travelers like me, that is a disincentive.
