insolite et tres agréable

Gite de charme très agréable et très bien tenu. voyageurs aimant la vie trépidente s'abstenir. Calme comfort et vue sur le Douro. Hôtes d'une gentillesse et dévouement rares. Quinta Agriceira ist ein wunderschönes Anwesen direkt am Douro gelegen.Die Gastgeber Elsa und Filipe sind sehr freundliche und aufgeschlossene Menschen. Sie erfüllen dir alle Wünsche wenn möglich.Wir sind mit dem Auto und mit Hund angereist.Die Familie ist sehr hundefreundlich.Wenn man kein Auto hat,dann ist Uber da und bringt einen für einen schmalen Taler überall hin. Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt.

We have fond memories of staying in this unique little house near the river. The inside decor was unique and clever. We loved hearing the town's church bells chime 7:00am...and a few minutes later we could see boats floating right past our window. We enjoyed watching river activities from the large 2nd floor deck. Elsa and Fillippe were incredible hosts. We were welcomed with a vase of flowers cut from their yard, pastries and wine. We asked Elsa to recommend a local restaurant one night - and she went out of her way to drive us there! Obrigada!!

The property is wonderful with a beautiful view of the Douro River. The house is well-equipped and the hosts are incredibly hospitable and helpful with anything you need. Couldn’t ask for better hosts. There is a sizeable pool with a kitchenette and pool toys, We had a lovely time.

Great location and hospitality

This estate home feels like you are worlds away from everything with spectacular river views. Yet, you are literally minutes from all the sights in Porto. Our hosts, Elsa and Philipe, were wonderful. They provided a welcome bottle of Port, along with tasty pastel de natas (look it up if you don't know what they are). They were responsive to our requests and had great recommendations for local dining. The house was well-equipped, clean and cozy. We happened to come when the weather was still warm and had a great surprise. They gave us access to a private pool with pool house and provided towels and lounge chairs. One note: make sure you follow the directions as to how to find the property. We arrived at night and were a little disoriented, but the directions were perfect. We'd love to come again!

Beautiful and quiet property on river

Family stayed 3 nights. The beautiful property is secluded on the riverside with a a great private pool area that you can walk up a hill to. Windows and big balcony upstairs has gorgeous views of the water. Perfect if you are looking for a quieter place away from the noise and bustle of the city to relax. An Uber or car ride can be taken into the city or other areas. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we were there during a heat wave so at night time it was a little warm for sleeping. Other than that we were very happy with our stay.

Amazing view of the river Douro

We had a wonderful stay at this quiet green country home at the river Douro. It was only 15 minutes away from Porto city and it was such a delight to return home after sightseeing and being able to relax on the terrace overlooking the river. There is also a wonderful swimming pool which is a walk uphill. The pool was cleaned every morning. Everything you need is at the house. Thank you, Elsa, for your hospitality!

Beautiful setting

If you want to stay just outside of central Porto on a beautiful property, this is the place. The view is beyond what we expected. We stayed in April so we couldn't take full advantage of kayaking in the river or swimming in the pool, though my husband was game for both. The guest house, which is essentially what this house is, is charming. The primary master is upstairs, a bit of a spiral staircase, and has doors onto the deck where the view is fantastic. We had coffee there every morning. The kitchen and living room are small but our group played cards at night so didn't try to sit around the TV. Our friends stayed in the second bedroom which has access to the patio. Storage space for their clothing was a little challenging in their bedroom so they used the staircase up to the loft to lay their colthes. Overall a wonderful stay and our hostess was available and accommodating.

Wonderful property, wonderful location and amazing hosts!

Our flight was delayed so we arrived after 1 am but Filipe was there to greet us with home baked cake, bread rolls and a bottle of wine. The location and the beautiful property allowed us to relax immediately and at breakfast we immediately decided to extend our stay. Unfortunately, a change in the COVID rules meant that we were actually forced to shorten our stay in order to avoid a 14 day quarantine period upon returning to Germany. Elsa not only spent considerable time in locating a PCR testing station but actually took us there to make absolutely sure that nothing went wrong. We don’t think you will find kinder or more lovely hosts anywhere. Combined with the character of the 300 year old estate set next to the river with private swimming pool and kayaks, guests are assured of experiencing a wonderful peaceful holiday. Thank you again, Elsa and Filipe for being so kind and helpful!!

Welcoming host and apartment on the River Douro with fantastic views and opportunity for exploring.

The accommodations were a perfect fit for our family. We had two adults and two teens. The house/apartment was very nicely decorated and everything was well-thought-of. The guide-book provided by the hosts provided complete instructions on how to use all the European appliances, and also included restaurant recommendations and emergency contact info. We found this very helpful! The kitchen was nicely equipped with the basics for cooking. I would recommend arriving with groceries as once you arrive you will want to stay a while and not go out again right away. On our day of arrival, the host graciously had arranged a welcoming array of a cheeseboard with wine and juice for the kids, and it was just what we needed after our flight. The property itself was nicely situated off the beaten path, a short drive from Porto or Gaia, and the beautiful Atlantic ocean. Google Maps was very handy, as we could not have found the location without this. We drove a small car for this vacation, and a large car may not be able to make the driveway of the property, which is narrow and steep along the property's edge. This is just my perspective, of course. The location of the pool was quite fantastic - not a traditional location behind a home - but a short walk up a hill for a completely private location with a separate pool house with hot shower and outside kitchen. Very unique! There was plenty to explore on the property, and we all enjoyed walking around and seeing all of the special historic fountains and things of this sort, that match up to the historic story of the main home. We were rained-in for the portion of one day, and we ended up turning on the TV to see what the programming was like - and it was very inclusive of many languages with programming from all over the world. We watched shows in different languages to include English, French, Spanish, & Portuguese (plus others) and really enjoyed this. I should mention that this property would not be a good fit for a person with mobility issues, as parking is not directly in front of, or beside, the lodging, and there are multiple steps and staircases inside the home/apartment. All said, this was easily one of our favorite vacation homes. The hospitality was top-notch, and the views were amazing from the terrace and from the pool area. We will definitely return on a future trip from the US to Portugal. :)

Greatest Place on Earth

Quinta da Agraceira is one of the best places we have stayed around the world. Elsa and Filipe are the best hosts. They helped us get around the area and stock our grocery supplies. We stayed two nights and did not leave the property one of the days. We picnicked and swam at the pool. We took the Kayaks to the Bar across the river and had dinner on our balcony overlooking the Douro. The property is peaceful and magical, full of fountains and fruit trees. We wish we could have stayed longer but we had reservations in Porto. Elsa drove us to our next destination giving us a great tour of Vila Nove de Gaia and Porto. We are already planning our return to Portugal and we will certainly be staying again! Thanks again so much!

Amazing location, fantastic hosts

We could not have been happier with our stay. Everything exceeded our expectations from the time we arrived until our reluctant departure. Elsa had a spread of fresh fruit, meat, wine, cheese and bread waiting for us when checked in - robust enough that we didn’t leave for dinner. She also delivered fresh bread and pastries in the morning which made a lovely breakfast. We spent one day exploring nearby Porto, but spent the remainder of our 4-day stay enjoying the lovely pool, kayaking in the river, and admiring the view. Strongly recommended - you won’t regret staying here.

Romantic, beautifully maintained house with a wonderful view on the Douro river

We spent a wonderful time in this charming house, off the beaten track at the Douro river. It has been renovated very recently and the standard is very high. The decoration and equipment is in the chabby-chic stile, very stylish! The terrace with the view on the Douro is unique! The pool area wonderful, even with a kitchen, coffee machine and fridge. Every morning, we received fresh bread and pastries - on the arrival day even some Tapas and Portwine! We were astonished by the generosity of Elsa and Filipo. Thank you so much, we recommend your house to anyone who prefers to stay at a quiet place in nature, but very close to buzzling Porto.

Erg mooie vakantiewoning in een fantastisch mooie groene omgeving en toch dicht bij de stad Porto

Filip en Elsa zijn erg gastvrij en hebben ons als gezin warm onthaald. Bij aankomst (laat in de avond) stonden er verse broodjes, vlees- en kaaswaren, drinken en een fles wijn voor ons klaar. Erg fijn na een lange reis en zelf nog niet de mogelijkheid hebben gehad boodschappen te doen, ook aan de kinderen was gedacht. In de ochtend stond er een mand met verse broodjes en lekkernijen voor de deur, echt fijn en lekker. De locatie van de woning is echt top. Erg afgelegen, op eigen en groot terrein van de eigenaren, aan de Douro rivier en in een groene, bosrijke omgeving. Ondanks de rust en het gevoel dat je aan het eind van de wereld zit, zit je toch vrij centraal en dichtbij Porto. Om de omgeving en stad te verkennen hadden Filip en Elsa allerlei goede tips. Een aantal daarvan hebben we op kunnen volgen en waren ook zeker de moeite waard. O.a. het biological parc dat zo goed als om de hoek ligt. De stad Brava en de stranden in Gaia. Het huis voldeed volledig aan onze behoeften. Vanwege de tijd van het jaar en het weer was het water van het zwembad nog niet warm, beter gezegd ijskoud. Het zou een pluspunt zijn als het water verwarmd zou zijn. Het zwembad ligt tegen een heuvel aan, een klein stukje (omhoog) lopen door het groene en glooiende terrein. Maar de plek is fantastisch. Uit de wind en met een huisjes met overkapping, keuken en toilet en douche. Ideaal om lekker te relaxen met mooi weer. Ons verblijf, gezin met twee kinderen van 5 en 6, was top! Een vakantie om in te lijsten. Bedankt voor een geweldig fijne week Filip en Elsa!!

Back to nature and peacefulness!

Without a doubt, anyone choosing to visit this accommodation will be in for a special treat. Starting with the hosts, Elsa and Filipe, two of the friendliest and generous people that we have come across in a a long time. Our arrival was met with a generous welcome table display of a bottle of wine, cheeses, bread from a nearby bakery, sliced smoked pork and a bowl of fruit. Their enthusiasm to make our holiday a memorable one, not only showed in their eyes, but in the basket that we received every morning on the door step with rolls and pastries. The location of Quinta da Agraceira is an adventure in itself. Differently stated, one visiting this place must be flexible to the unknown and new adventures. But, once there, and exposed to the environment of Quinta da Agraceira, you will be absorbed by the natural landscape and the charm of the Douro river with it´s occasional activity of kayakers and river cruises. By normal standards or individual expectations, one would find the swimming pool by the accommodation´s area. Not so with Quinta da Agraceira. Prepare yourself to take an enjoyable stroll through the grounds to this sunny plateau where the sun bothers the pool, surrounded by chestnut trees, oak trees, eucalyptus trees and others unknown to me. Whatever the reasons that will attract your senses to this charming accommodations, known as Quinta da Agraceira, one must , above all be willing to accept this unknown new adventure. It is worth it. Thank you Elsa for your warm hospitality and continuous sunshine attitude. Filipe, thank you for guiding us back to the airport. Although it ended up that we had 14 hours to spare and get lost.Our flight got cancelled. But that would have been another adventure to talk about. Ed and Bonita Sousa VHM Azores
