Second time to the Grand but no Expedia VIP Access ‘experience’ this time. Simply disgusting stay and a shame that the Vidovich Winery family and Bono Hotel Mgmt. have lost their passion and allowed this gem to deteriorate so far. Dirty floors/rugs, stained seating surfaces and furniture, disconcerting brown smears on bed frames, greasy glassware and a strong odor of disinfectant. Itchy/creepy sleep and by morning we both were experiencing stomach ‘distress’. Front Desk confirmed it was a ‘pet’ room. Zero outreach from Hotel Manager, 8 hour wait to move and no comp for hotel’s error. Couch & bedding were cleaner but…broken A/C, heat, fireplace (2 for 2), telephone and hairdryer. Filthy windows/screens, no bathroom soap dispenser and no Kleenex for 4 days! Butts on pathways, abandoned clothing poolside, non-working gates and unlit areas and dark stairways to rooms. Scary elevator with max person limit. Breakfast of a communal yogurt bowl, cut fruit, toast and 'dinner’ rolls. Promised Happy Hour 'top shelf liquors’, 'California’s boutique wineries’ and ‘hors d'oeuvres’ is choice between 'beer, red or white...with chips'. Zero on-site management and every other position is clearly understaffed. The staff is not empowered to do anything constructive other than to say ‘I’m sorry’ and make up little falsehoods to cover for hotel problems. Hummingbirds used entertain poolside…over silent fountain a Raven now perches…we agree ’nevermore’.

Checkin isn’t until 4 which is pretty pointless and couldn’t check in early due to them offering late checkout. Had to get keys replaced twice and still only one worked. I don’t think they have ever once vacuumed the floors in the hotel there was trash and stains COVERING the floors. Breakfast was the most limited options I have ever seen in a hotel. Cereal and croissants and that’s it. Ice machines broken on all floors except for 1. Do not waste your money here!!

For the type of hotel this was one of the strangest hotel stays. I selected it over the usual hotels because the rims looked good and location. Both of which were fine. The hotel was horribly understaffed. Basically there was the front desk clerk and a barman - who doubled as the chef and room service delivery! Half the items on the menu were not available. Staff did a good job considering the hotel management hung them out to dry!

The only problem we had was the breakfast. By 8am they were completely out of everything, so if you want the scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, muffins you need to be one of the first to breakfast because the run out and didn’t restock. It was a bummer.

Broken elevator, very rundown and tiny pool. Room was not ready for check-in and staff just shrugged about it. Staff gave no timing when it would be ready. Train your staff better. What a trash hole this place is.

The elevator didn’t work throughout our stay and the one time we did use it we were stuck in there for about 10 mins. There are no vending machines on property either. Rooms are extremely spacious and I loved the soaker tub. I would stay there again.

Stayed a night with family of 3 (toddler included), got a 2 bed with jet tub, however, the tub had some small scrapes of paint/coating. Tried to clean the tub before using but the tub coating started to flake off when rubbing with towel. Didn't feel safe to use. Other than is, the overall all experience was good, hotel was clean, quiet and welcoming. Room was clean with no foul smell. Our room has a refrigerator and coffee machine but no microwave. I feel the parking lot could use some light.

I don’t understand the negative reviews I have seen on other websites. This hotel was really well set up, our room (with Expedia VIP Status) was huge. Service was immediate, it was not crowded and the property was beautiful. The bed could have been a little firmer, the breakfast could have been better but the value and the hotel were fantastic!

The rooms were very outdated, especially the showers. The basic amenities was very lacking, such as soap and toilet paper in the room. There was a water outage from 8am-8pm. The day after, the water was murky and yellowish-brown. The TV channels were not working (3) out of the (6) days I was at the hotel. The breakfast was sub-mediocre at best and mostly depleted by 8:30am. I will not be returning.

Our fireplace didn’t work, tv’s didn’t work, the toilet paper dispenser was broken. The front desk was of no assistance. They advertised craft cocktails and hors d’oeuvres for happy hour from 5 to 6, and there was no workers at the front desk and no bartender. I decided to stay an extra night due to work and they offered to price match my Expedia offer when I went to go check out and asked for an itemized bill. They tried to overcharge me. I requested a manager call me back the next day I never received a call back, I contacted them in the afternoon the following day and left a message and never got a call back again. The housekeeping and groundskeepers were very nice and hard-working. The front desk was no help and neither was the room service, bartenders or happy hour.

Rooms are clean and good location. Earlier they used to serve hot breakfast which they have stopped which is disappointing.

We were upgraded to a villa and it was spacious and lovely with parking very close. Check in was quick and efficient but a bit impersonal. Breakfast was a mess. We had to go to the front desk to ask for things to get replenished including coffee. And the staff who did the replenishing were very unpleasant. Beautiful facility though.

The hotel was centrally located to the areas my husband I wanted to visit. Our room was spacious and quiet. Overall, the room and the furniture was updated but definitely felt old and tired. If anyone wants a clean, safe place to stay for a night or two in Sunnyvale, they should consider The Grand Hotel.

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed at! The happy hour, great breakfast, spacious rooms. All so great! Plus, the soaking tub in the room is to die for! I am so happy with this spot and keep returning!
