The Space:

Villa Gautier is a truly special 2 bed 1 bath apartment nestled in the 500-year-old historic city of Old San Juan. You will love the stark contrast of the historic exterior and the completely renovated interior of this professionally decorated apartment. You will enjoy all the details in this beautiful vacation rental and the thought-out design of the property which offers a full kitchen, AC throughout the property,  flatscreen TV’s in both bedrooms and the living room, and a washer and dryer that make it ideal for extended stays. Come stay at Villa Gautier and enjoy the best Old San Juan has to offer. 





LIVING AREAS



Villa Gautier has a grand room with a full kitchen, 4 person dining table/countertop, and a comfortable living room with flat screen TV and balcony. There is a laundry area adjacent to the kitchen and the whole space is air conditioned. 





SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS



There are two exquisitely appointed bedrooms that each have a king bed, windows overlooking an interior patio, flat screen TV, air conditioning, and a comfortable closet. 



PACK AND PLAY (SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY): We can leave a complimentary Pack and Play at the property upon request. This should be requested upon booking or no later than 5 days before arrival. Pack and Plays are subject to availability.





KITCHEN



The kitchen is brand new and includes a stovetop, microwave, double sink, quartz countertops, coffeemaker, and cookware that can handle extended stays.



There is also a washer and dryer adjacent to the kitchen. 





GETTING AROUND



This property does not include parking. If staying within the general San Juan/Metro area, we recommend moving around via Uber.



If you decide to rent a car, there are various paid parking garages around Old San Juan - pricing varies as some charge by the hour and others have a flat rate. 





LOCATION



Staying in Old San Juan is a truly unique experience filled with charm and character. From Villa Gautier, you can comfortably walk anywhere within Old San Juan. The apartment is located on one of the quieter streets but still steps away from all the action. We recommend taking a cab or Uber from the airport and using Uber while you stay at Old San Juan. Renting a car is not necessary unless you are planning on road tripping. This is a truly walkable location with everything you need a short walk away. The apartment does not include parking. Nonetheless, there are convenient parking lots close to the apartment.

There are many things to do in the surrounding areas, here are some of our favorites, all within walking distance:



Explore the El Morro Fort. There are daily tours of the fort and the large green areas have spectacular ocean views. Take a tour, have a picnic, and fly a kite. This is a must-do.

Explore the iconic Calle San Sebastian nightlife. There is a large assortment of bars on this strip which is a favorite among locals on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Breakfast at “La Mallorca”. This is a Puerto Rican landmark well known for its locally inspired breakfast and pastries.

Savor Stuffed Avocado. Healthy and "trendy" spot where you can create your own avocado bowl.

Take a stroll around “Paseo La Princesa”, a waterfront walkway which you can start off at El Morro and finish of the walk with a rum tasting at Princesa Gastrobar at the end of the trail.





UTILITY INTERRUPTIONS



Villa Gautier does not have a backup generator or water cistern and unfortunately power and water outages can happen in Puerto Rico. If water or power is interrupted for more than 3 hours, guests will have the option of canceling their reservation and requesting a refund for the nights not used.

STARTER AMENITIES



At West Indies Vacation Rentals, we strive to provide top-notch amenities, ensuring our guests feel at home during their stay.



All properties come with freshly laundered bed linens and towels. We provide 2 bath towels per guest and 1 beach towel per guest.



We provide a set of disposable essentials to help you get your vacation started comfortably. These include:



- 1 set of hotel-size soap and shampoo (per bathroom)

- 3 garbage bags

- 1 roll of paper towels

- 2 rolls of toilet paper (per bathroom)

- 1 dish soap

- 1 dish sponge

- A small amount of laundry detergent



Please note that we do not provide unlimited disposable amenities. It is the guest’s responsibility to review what is included in the property and stock any additional items needed for the duration of the stay.



Most properties also include at least 2 beach chairs and an ice cooler. You may reach out to us 5 days before arrival for confirmation.





HOUSE RULES



RENTAL AGREEMENT: All bookings require a signed Short-Term Rental Agreement, which will be sent upon confirmation of your reservation. Guests must upload a valid photo ID (no selfies) that matches the name on the credit card used for the booking. The agreement must be signed within 48 hours of booking or prior to entering the property, whichever comes first. Check-in instructions will not be provided until the agreement is completed.



NO SMOKING: Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property. A $500 smoking fee will be charged if this rule is violated.



NO PETS: While we are pet lovers, pets are not permitted at the property at any time. A $300 fine will be charged if this rule is violated, and guests may be asked to leave the property.



QUIET HOURS: Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Please be mindful of noise during these hours out of respect for nearby residents/neighbors.



UTILITIES (WATER & ELECTRICITY): In the event of an interruption to water or electrical service, the host is not responsible for hotel, alternate lodging, or transportation expenses. If service is interrupted for more than 3 hours, guests may cancel the reservation and request a refund for unused nights only. Nights already used are non-refundable.



MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY: The maximum occupancy is 4 adults/children at all times, including visitors.



OCCUPANCY ENFORCEMENT: Occupancy limits are strictly enforced. Exceeding the maximum occupancy may result in immediate cancellation of the reservation or removal from the property without refund.



TOWELS & LINENS: Towels and linens are provided for normal use only. Please do not use them for cleaning or allow them to be stained with food, grease, or other substances. Charges may apply for damaged or stained items.



TOWEL HANGING: Please do not hang towels or any other items to dry in areas visible from outside the unit. A $100 community fine may apply if this rule is violated.



SUBLETTING: Subletting or re-renting the property is not permitted.





CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT TIMES



Check-in begins at 4:00 PM, and since this is a self-check-in unit, you can arrive anytime after that.



If you’d like to check in earlier, please contact us the day before your arrival, and we’ll confirm availability. When possible, early check-in typically starts around 11:00 AM. Please note that early check-in is subject to availability and depends on our cleaning schedule.



If you need a guaranteed early check-in, you will need to book from the night prior to ensure the property is ready upon your arrival.



Check-out time is at 11:00 AM. For late check-out requests, please reach out the day before your departure, and we’ll be happy to check availability for you.





TRAVEL INSURANCE / HURRICANE SEASON



We strongly recommend that all guests purchase travel insurance, not only during the peak months of Hurricane Season (July to October) but also throughout the year to cover unexpected events such as travel delays, pandemics, or other unforeseen issues.



Travel insurance is inexpensive and can reimburse travelers for most expenses associated with canceling travel outside of the cancellation window; however, coverage will depend on the policy purchased. Make sure to review and understand the options before purchase.

Loved the location in Old San Juan! Within walking distance to everything in Old San Juan, and also a short walk to the pick up spots for the tours we did. The keypad unlocks at exactly 4 pm for checkin. We were a little early, but went to the bar below for Pina Coladas and they were delicious. The air conditioners worked great and were super easy to use. I was a little worried to turn them off when we left each time, but the place stayed fairly cool and they cooled the place down quickly whenever we returned. The decorating is great and there is lots of charm. We would definitely stay here again!

Perfect Getaway!

I booked this amazing apartment for my daughter’s 30th birthday. My husband, myself, daughter and daughter’s boyfriend stayed here. Agatha was communicative and helpful from check-in to check-out. This really is a hidden gem! The location is perfect-within a very short walking distance of Calle de San Sebastián-which was one of our planned spots for entertainment. It was really within walking distance of everything! Fabulous location! There is a quaint bar/coffee shop right below the villa which was amazing. The apartment itself was spotless. Very clean, modern and chic. It even had a little balcony that overlooks the street. The beds were super comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and despite the front of the building being close to a busy street, the rooms in the back were very quiet! They provided lots of extra towels and there was a washer and dryer which came in handy. It is just the most beautiful spot! The only recommendation that I could even think of would be to put a mirror in the second bedroom. Getting 4 people ready with 2 mirrors was a little bit of a challenge. I will book here again! Wish I could give more stars.

Perfect location, beautiful apartment.

The place is as beautiful as it seems in the pictures. Super clean. Everything we needed, could have used a few more washclothes. But no big deal Location was as good as it gets. Attractions and bars and restaurants in easy walking distance.Don Collins coffee and cocktails is right next door and the service is super friendly. Just a great place to stay. Will return. Ps. everyone warns your about the bar sounds in PR. We had no problem with noise here.

True Gem in Old San Juan

What a find! This incredibly modern apartment was an excellent choice for our family of four and perfectly located. The decor was stylish yet comfortable, and the A/C was excellent. We enjoyed being so close to all of the sites and restaurants and felt safe the entire time. Agatha is one of the best hosts we’ve had since we’ve been using VEVO: so helpful and responsive.

Beautiful Stay

Property is exactly like the pictures. The mattress was very comfortable and the suite was spotless. There were only two items that were a disappointment. 1. The number of electrical outlets, we could only find 4. If there's more, they're well hidden. 2.Parking.. The closest parking is a block away, but very expensive. The next closest parking is about 5-8 minutes walk. Other than those two items, we had a great time and would stay here again, but would Uber instead.

Perfect location

We had trouble accessing the property when we arrived due to the documentation containing the wrong access code. After getting over the initial hurdle, we didn’t have any further trouble. The property had great AC and was very comfortable. The location was perfect for exploring Old San Juan on foot. Please note that the nearest parking ramp was several blocks away. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful

This property is gorgeous! It looks just like the pictures and may be one of the cleanest places I’ve ever stayed! Great location in Old San Juan and the owners are very responsive and extremely nice. Be prepared for the walk to the second floor. It’s not bad, but it was exceedingly hot when we were there so it was muggy. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Wonderful trip!
