Perfect Getaway
Had a stay in mid September--lots of amazing weather to experience: hot, cool, stormy, calm, hazy, crisp. Enjoyed the deck and sun and the cozy fireplace. So close to the East Coast Trail for great hikes. Had friends come for some meals and it was a great space to visit and enjoy. It feels remote yet safe. Really comfy beds--but older or little folks might want a step ladder to climb into them! Kelly and Chris were so welcoming and understanding about a hiccup with VRBO. It's a wonderful home in a perfect location. I would definitely come again!

Could not have been better
If you want a nice house on a nice property in a nice town and a friendly responsive owner, this is a the house for you. The views in every direction are breathtaking. Pouch Cove is a very walkable small town with friendly people. The house is very well equipped including extra jackets and Bose bluetooth speakers that I paired with my phone daily. A shout out to Sharon who did a fantastic job of cleaning the house before our arrival. My only regret is that our stay wasn't longer.

Amazing views

Icebergs, whales, eagle…Oh My!
Thank you Chris and Kelly. The Red House was perfect!! We enjoyed our evenings by the fire and watching the whales and icebergs from the deck. We appreciated the well stocked kitchen so we could spend several evenings cooking dinner and relaxing after beautiful hikes that we walked to from the house. Grateful for all of your recommendations and hospitality!!

It was a spectacular view of the ocean. We managed to see many whales, and iceberg from far away. The property itself was very comfortable and very cozy. Kelly who welcomed us was amazing and easy to reach. Overall, we had a great vacation and looking forward to coming back.

We enjoyed our stay at the red house. The views were fantastic (when the fog cleared), the house was cozy and well equipped, beds were super comfortable, the only thing we didn't have was lobster crackers! Pouch Cove is pretty much the last stop heading north on the Avalon Peninsula, so it's pretty quiet, exactly what we were looking for in a relaxing vacation. Thanks to Chris and Kelly for a great stay.

Home away from home
The Red House was really a home away from home. We loved every minute there. The house had everything we could have wished for. We had a little hurricane for 2 days and were just watching the weather and the sea from a very comfortable living room. We can highly recommend a stay there and will come back for sure.

Spectacular views and people!
Nothing quite prepares you for the stunning views of the ocean! Everything about this vacation property was perfect for our family. It is located far enough away from everything else to provide a great getaway but, it is close enough to Pouch Cove and a short drive to St John’s. Bonus, the East Coast trail is within walking distance and definitely recommend for the views! The owners Kate and Chris are fantastic people and communicators! They were always quick to respond to any questions we had and let us in on where to pick wild blueberries. With respect to the Red House…well, what can I say? Spectacular views and although old is modernized, clean and everything works! Throughly enjoyed our stay and was regretfully too short! Would definitely recommend to anyone!

Completely happy with The Red House. Everything was so clean, all our needs were thought out, such as blankets available to use while relaxing on the deck. The ocean view is beautiful. And picking blueberries while hiking the East Coast Trail, everything was perfect. We will be back!!

Stunning setting, beautiful accommodations
This is such a sweet house! It's beautiful, very clean, and even the knives are sharp!! Everything about it is lovely. We had a nightmare travel story (Toronto airport, enough said.) But the house and our vacation experience made it worth the stress of getting to Newfoundland and getting back home to Michigan. I truly hope to reserve this spot again and check out more of the East Coast Trail, which is within walking distance and truly phenomenal. Well done!!

Heaven on earth!! Amazing property, beautiful home, peaceful location.
We absolutely loved our stay at the red house. The location was perfect for a peaceful getaway and close enough to St Johns for the Newfoundland experience. We mostly focused on hiking and the East Coast trail can’t be beat ! It was so nice to come back to the red house after a day of hiking. Waking up to an amazing sunrise with coffee to relaxing on the deck with a glass if wine.. heaven on earth. Chris and Kelley are amazing hosts and answered all of our questions and even had great suggestions for the area. We will definitely plan a return trip

Red House Rocks
If you want an incredibly comfortable stay in some beautiful Newfoundland surroundings -- this is the place. Red House has everything you need for your stay and is located in a perfect spot. St. Johns and great places on the Avalon peninsula are all close by. But the best part is just sitting on the deck and looking out at the awesome view. Whales, seabirds, cliffs and awesome sunrises and sunsets. Just taking it all in from the deck. Fantastic place!

The Red House
The Red House is fully and very comfortably furnished. It is perfect for nesting on a stormy day, for basking in sunshine on the deck or for launching a day of hiking surrounded by truly breathtaking views from every window. There was a stash of paperbacks and a pile of videos for our entertainment. There were treats on our arrival. Hosts Chris and Kelly were very attentive. Chris answered email questions promptly. Kelly visited on our first full day to make sure we had everything we needed. Pouch Cove is close enough to St John's for shopping, dining out or visiting The Rooms, but also a great starting point for hikes and drives north and west. We highly recommend staying at The Red House.

Unforgettable week at the Red House
We had a wonderful stay at the Red House and did not want to leave. From the easy emailing with Chris, to the delightful welcome and subsequent visit from Kelly, the feeling of being at home in the house itself and then the incredible views, the stay at the Red House exceeded our expectations. Thinking back on our week there, the words that come to mind are that the setting is idyllic and the place leaves you feeling serene. It was perfect for relaxing on the deck watching the sunrise and looking out at the ocean, and for disconnecting from the world, and reconnecting with each other. We were hoping for a relaxing, quiet and peaceful week and staying at the Red House with the incredible surroundings gave us that and much more. We left with a close personal connection to the place. The house itself was very clean and fully equipped with pretty much anything one could need. Having freshly picked wild blueberries with breakfast every morning was a real delight. The property is located an easy drive into St. John’s and other locales and touristy places like Petty Harbour , Quidii Vidi , Signal Hill and so on. The Red House was the perfect vacation spot and we will definitely be returning there in the future. Thank you Chris for making that incredible place available for us to enjoy.

Splendid house and magical location
We had a wonderful two weeks here and would love to return. The house itself is delightful: immaculate, generously and thoughtfully equipped, aesthetically simple and pleasing, and with a breathtaking view over the sea. We enjoyed day trips to Brigus, Witless Bay (don’t miss the boat trip to see puffin colony) , Petty Cove, and in and around St. John’s (The Rooms also not to be missed). But, in a way, the highlight each time was returning to Pouch Cove and sitting outside on the deck …wine, gannets diving, sea breeze …same again at sunrise, with coffee. There’s good walking nearby and we lucked into blueberry season too, along the cliffs close to the house. Chris was always responsive on email around booking etc and Kelly’s welcome when we arrived was great. Thanks to you both.

WOW Experience
First off, The Red House is "one in a million" - even in NL. Location, Location, Location!! Spotlessly clean, well equipped, tasteful and creative decor and breathtaking views from every angle. I took photos every morning of the spectacular sunrises and in the evening we sat in the comfy adirondack chairs to watch for whale activity out on the ocean . Our stay came with a perfect week of weather. From the puffins at Elliston to the bottom of the Irish Loop we had excursions every day to see and taste what this unique Province has to offer. Relaxing stay in the Red House at Pouch Cove
The Red House is in a fantastic location and has easy access to the East Coast Trail. Downtown St John’ is approx. 30 minutes away and we enjoyed a fantastic meal at a restaurant called Get Stuffed. We were fortunate enough to be there for the Regatta and that was an experience not to be missed. The house has everything you will need for your stay and it is beautifully decorated. We especially enjoyed using the deck and watching for whales and enjoying the ocean view.

A Magical Cottage by the Sea
My wife & I spent 2 wonderful weeks at the Red House. A beautiful, quiet spot at the end of the road overlooking the sea. The cottage was just as advertised. Kelly greeted us upon our arrival to make sure we were comfortably settled in. The owner (Chris) was very responsive to any questions we had. We spent most of our days hiking on the East Coast Trail (2 segments walking distance from the cottage and many more within a short drive). We also took the ferry to Bell Island & explored downtown St. John's. We enjoyed returning to this lovely cottage after the day's adventures. While relaxing on the deck we saw MANY whales everyday. Although this is a "simple" cottage, it is nicely furnished and is adorned with local photography and artwork. The library containing a variety of books about Newfoundland was also a nice touch. We had everything we needed to prepare & enjoy dinner each night. The cottage was very clean, and the beds were quite comfortable. While Pouch Cove is a very quiet small town at the "end of the earth", St. John's is only 25 minutes away for groceries, restaurants, etc. We highly recommend the Red House & we hope to return again.

In a league of its own!
This is our fourth or fifth stay at the Red House. The view is second to none. The house is cozy and the wood stove keeps you warm and snug on a rainy night. The East Coast Trail runs straight through town and is stunning in both directions. The washer and dryer are a great help. I'd give it six stars, if I could!

Spectacular view. We saw whales everyday right out the front window. Very good location for day trips to St John’s, Bay Bulls, Belle Island and many photo op spots all within an hours drive. Make sure you go see Cape St Francis, just three km from the Red House

Amazing!
The cottage had everything we needed. The views are incredible. We saw whales from the back deck every day. Some mornings they were so close we could hear them breathing as they surfaced. The area is very quiet and relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning to Newfoundland.

Cozy house with incredible views!
Wow!! This house exceeded our expectations in every way. It had everything we needed for a week's stay, INCREDIBLE view, and overall charm. We enjoyed the nearby hikes, whale watching, and peaceful time at home. Sitting on the deck felt like sitting on the edge of the world. Lasting Memories
We saw a rainbow upon arrival. It was awesome like our stay here. Chris's flexibility enabled us to come here. Both the works of art and the private library were stimulating to the mind. Our eyes never grew weary of the panoramic views. Dexter, the neighbor's dog, makes for a great tour guide because he will lead you to the best views nearby. The Red House rocks on The Rock.

The property has an amazing view!!
The red house is very quaint and cozy...it provides everything you need for a comfortable stay. The views which you can see from most windows is spectacular. We saw whales, beautiful sunrises and was fun to watch the local fisherman catching cod. This place makes you feel like you are at home and is a great answer for anyone that wants that feeling. Very comfortable house in a private location. Loved the porch with panoramic views. We saw whales every day. Icebergs went by. Wonderful cottage perfectively out fitted. Right on the ocean. Straight across must be Ir.e.land. Very quiet but only a short drive to St John's We had beautiful sunny weather and we saw 10 icebergs on our drive around the Avalon Peninsula Be sure to visit Bell Island. - the mine tour and the lighthouse

This was a home away from home - but better!
There is nothing like lying in bed and seeing the stars touch the horizon then waking up with the sun rising over the sea. Our stay was worry free because Chris thought of everything when setting up this perfeect holiday home. The location was great for getting into St John's or anywhere else on the Peninsula for the day and coming home for the evening. We stayed warm despite the cold wind whipping around us because there is no shortage of heating throughout and on a mild morning at the end of September we took our first breakfast on the porch and listened to the waves crashing below. Every person we met was kind and lovely, I encourage anyone to stay here to have a taste of this beauty.

Piece of Paradise in Pouch Cove
Our family of four had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful home for a week in early August. We are mom, dad, 14 year old, and 12 year old (kids shared the upstairs second bedroom). The Red House is just far enough away from St. John's to be remote without taking hours to get to it at the end of big days. There are great grocery stores in on Torbay Road just outside of St. John's (the one in Torbay itself is much smaller but still good) to get your provisions. The house seemed large compared to the photos - great entryway for all of our coats and shoes, comfortable living room with ocean-watching windows. The kitchen is big and directly behind the living room so it has the same ocean-viewing windows. Kitchen had everything - permanent coffee filter, every pot and pan we needed, well working stove and oven, toaster, etc. The dining room table was perfect for meals and cards and trip planning. Lots of windows to let the breezes in. The bedrooms were wonderful - extremely comfortable beds and lots of storage. The second bedroom has a closet for hanging stuff up, too. The upstairs bathroom was spacious and well-stocked with plenty of nice bath, hand, and wash towels, and bathmats. In most rooms you have complete privacy and you have spectacular views! We spent a lot of time on the decks in the mornings and evenings. We saw lots of humpbacks, shooting stars, and beautiful birds. We stayed home one great weather day (we only had rain one day) and hiked the East Coast Trail to Cape St. Francis It was so great to have Chris meet us at the house upon our arrival - he showed us around and obviously takes great pride in his home. The room with the futon in it is a very sweet room - off the living room, it has doors to keep it private and is adjacent to the downstairs bathroom. Having one or two people in this room would be very comfortable, I think. Also, nice window with great views from this room. There is nice bookshelf with lots of paperbacks (i left one; took one :)) and many guidebooks. A perfect home, lots of privacy, way "out there" but still close enough. We hope to return!!

Perfect
This is a great place to stay in NL, close enough to St John's but still in a world of its own. The view is amazing, and the house is comfortable and has all you need to live well for a stay. We saw whales from the deck on three days of our vacation. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

The RedHouse is the essence of beauty & charm with a dramatic backdrop.
Our recent stay at the RedHouse was everything we could have hoped for! The house itself was a compelling blend of a charming, rustic, artsy, traditional Newfoundland cottage. Every room had a view & the decor & art was given much thought. The grounds.....amazing! We spent hours on the deck whale watching and gazing at the ever changing skies. The East Coast trail is right there for hearty hikes with dramatic views. Chris (the owner) was charismatic, gracious & thoughtful:). Thank-you! We loved our stay at the RedHouse!

Incredible house with the perfect location
Fantastic house . The location could not be more perfect. Made us feel like we were on the edge of the earth looking out at the ocean. Chris made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived . The extra touches were a real bonus. Incredible view of the sea from every room in the house including the bedrooms. Enjoyed our time on the deck every morning and evening. Great property with a fantastic view
We enjoyed the time in your holiday home very! The house was very clean and it was all that you need! In the kitchen nothing was missing! Furthermore, you get a great view of the sea and we saw lots of whales and icebergs. We had a wonderful time and recommend it to anyone! We drove relaxed back to Germany! We will back! Private and Serene
The owner met us at check in and made us feel completely welcome to our new home. Perfect location to explore the Avalon. The main road turns west in Pouch Cove (pronounced Pooch Cove) so we are essentially on a dead end with very little traffic. The views from every window and especially the deck are totally private. The master bed is level with the two windows which makes it feel like an infinity bed over the ocean. We were lucky enough to have an iceberg a full moon and a few whales right outside. There is a good movie selection and a small flat screen TV but we never turned it on, the views outside simply take over your spirit! Sitting on the deck you feel like you have the entire east coast to yourself. The main floor is mostly open concept with all views looking out to the ocean. We spent most of our time hiking different parts of the east coast trail, every section is different from the last, very inspiring. The pictures do not do the house and location justice ... this is a must do experience.

We loved it!!!
The beautiful photos of the Red House were so accurate that when I walked in I felt like I had been there before. We appreciated the well appointed kitchen, the lovely comfy deck chairs, and the incredible view of the sea which we could see from every room in the house. The Red House is an absolutely wonderful place to stay while exploring the Avalon Peninsula.
