We ended up with a room at at the very top, 3rd floor. It was 52 stairs to get up there and there is no elevator. But once up there the room was clean and had a really nice king sized bed. The bed was comfy and had nice pillows. Two softer ones, that I like, and two firmer ones for other tastes. The staff was friendly and helpful. The building could get a little loud at moments due to echoing in the central patio area, but we couldn't hear anything from our room. It was very quiet. You could hear the train in the morning, but it didn't wake us up. We were able to walk pretty much everywhere, but the busses and streetcars are all the way on Canal, so it's about 10 blocks if you want to go on transit. Bourbon Street and Jackson Square are within walking distance. Overall were were very happy with our stay at the Hotel Royal.
