Top of the Rock: To reach the top of Chimney Rock, drive up a three mile winding road to a large parking area. Then ride the 26-story elevator to the top (in just 30 seconds) or climb 500 steps to the chimney. On a clear day, enjoy 75-mile views overlooking Lake Lure and the Hickory Nut Gorge.

Beautiful views from the top!
An easy 3/4 mile trail that takes you right up to the falls. This is also part of Chimney Rock State Park so you will need to pay admission to access these falls as well as Chimney Rock.

The grounds were quiet with a good view. The cabin was lovely. The staff were very friendly and quick to respond. They are only a text away. Otherwise, it's like you are in a private home.

Built in 1906 Tryon's train depot is now an event space and the tracks are no longer in use.

The builder and first owner of the home was a wealthy slave owner who built the home in 1838 so that he and his family could escape the heat, yellow fever and malaria of the Charleston area. These buildings were originally slave quarters. Carl Sandburg turned them into outbuildings and guest cabins.
