What's not to like about a beautiful historic inn in central Vermont that was featured in the Bob Newhart show? It's well kept, and the staff are friendly and personable. I didn't get to try the food, but the restaurant is clearly popular.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for one night during our trip to Vermont and we adored it. Its quiet, charming, and very hands off which I like. We called ahead of time to inform the desk staff that we’d be arriving a bit later then typical check in hours and they were very willing to provide us with our keys and the door code so that we could get in after operating hours. Fortunately we made it on time, but the fact that they even offered was more than we had anticipated. The on location restaurant was far better than your average hotel room service with affordable beer and drink, and the complementary breakfast was a limited menu but had one of the better breakfasts I’ve eaten in recent months. It feels homemade and that’s because it is. Almost everything on the menu, down to the yogurt, was locally sourced. We would not only stay here another night but make a trip out of it to stay here for longer. It’s that charming.

This is a beautiful property. The staff and innkeeper are efficient and friendly. Cookies in the room and on the front desk were a nice touch. The breakfast was excellent and the dining room at night was perfect for Valentine's Day. The piano player was outstanding.

A very authentic inn
Pros: - Very authentic inn. Feels more like being a guest in a house than staying in a hotel. - Great bar and a restaurant - Very friendly staff - Great location if you would like to explore Rikert and Snowbowl or Middlebury. Cons: I didn't mind this at all, but at night, you can hear the people talking in other rooms very clearly, as if there were no walls between rooms. I could very clearly hear the person in the next room snoring. Just in case you are sensitive to this, please be aware.

The uniqueness were no clocks in rooms, no tv in rooms and the atmosphere was relaxing. The things we didn’t like were The day before you check in they hold your whole reservation cost plus an extra $ 200 from which ever account your using, they do not tell you about this when booking… They hold the money till you check out. I brought this up to the front desk and she said they get multiple calls from people complaining the Waybury Inn does this, she also stated people state they are strapped for money due to the Inn not telling people about this an just taking and holding it…Breakfast was not good, pancakes were raw and meat was questionable.

This is a gem! The Inn is convenient to Middlebury College and is very quiet. After a long drive, it was so nice to be able to walk downstairs to the pub and have a delicious meal. The room was very comfortable and the breakfasts that came with the stay were delicious. The staff was super friendly. Will definitely stay again when in the area.

The bed and breakfast nice just not great cell reception, no tv in room. The rooms are smaller but it is a B&B. The breakfast was great and the restaurant and bar attached was great also.

Cannot Wait to Return!!!
The Inn was simply lovely! Charming, incredibly clean, wonderfully decorated and the staff was amazing! Cannot wait to come back. Everyone was so welcoming and accommodating. And the breakfast is delicious! As are the welcome cookies!

10/23/2023 We had a wonderful stay at the Waybury Inn. Room is clean and comfortable. We did experience road noise because our room was in the front of Inn. It would have been quieter if the storm windows had been down. The food for breakfast and dinners at the restaurant were fabulous. Staff is great at their jobs. We definitely recommend the Waybury Inn and Taven Restaurant.

The property and staff were great. The woodland room I stayed in was over the staff exit from the restaurant below. They were so noisy all night until 11:30pm or so. And there was some sort of banging noise coming from that area.

Charming Inn
Had a lovely stay at the Waybury Inn. It was charming. Would have liked some late evening tea service in the lobby as there are no cafe option close by. The staff was helpful, very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent! Kudos to the chef and serving staff who made our stay so much nicer.

Room was small but quaint, breakfast was excellent, general staff helpful. HOWEVER, despite several calls and emails, room was not ready for us with extra aerobed. After hours housekeeping saved the day. We could easily forgive this. But unforgivable were the multiple and repetitive charges made to our credit card for hundreds of dollars because the owner, Tracey, could not figure out the invoicing system. She insisted that the charges were not really being made despite being told repeatedly that AMEX was alerting us. She was so incompetent, she could not understand what was happening. We had to cancel our credit card and report the Waybury Inn for fraud because she had charged us thousands by this time. Each invoice was crazier than the last, going up to $6000 for a two night stay. No one in management communicated with each other, which was the reason the mistakes started initially. Would never stay here again. Advice all to avoid so you don’t ruin your vacation.

This Inn is just lovely and has such a lovely, serene charm. It’s clean and the staff is very helpful. All my meals at the Inn were superb with fresh, local ingredients. And the fact that it was the outdoor set for the Bob Newhart show is amazing!

Best local Cozy Inn in the area!
This Inn has the nicest local Vermonters as staff and one of the best local young cook who lives literally next door. Its worth it to stay just to dine every night at their pub. They give you an bacon (thick Canadian style smoked slabs) and egg breakfast plus scone included with your stay in the morning as well. Totally different from ski resorts like Killington where all the staff seem foreign non-local and only there for the season. Best Vermont charm and great food. Cannot go wrong!
