"The Hotel Maritim is beautifully designed with a multistory atrium. The room was well appointed and the beds were comfortable. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I had a drink at their rooftop restaurant with amazing views of the river and the city. I highly recommend this hotel for its location, service and well appointed accommodations. "
"This is a really nice hotel, in a building that is 100 years old this year. The beds are very comfortable, bathroom facilities are good, with a decent shaving mirror. The breakfast was good and was sufficient for me requiring a vegan menu, although would have liked vegan sausages, but the ham and salami substitutes made up for that.
Sadly the area around the hotel has seen better times. The U-bahn station is opposite the hotel’s main entrance and the staircases and elevators stink of urine, and could do with a visit from the Cologne City Cleansing Department.
It is also right next to Hansaring S-bahn Station which has connections to Cologne Hauptbahnhof, and other regional stations in the North Rhine-Westphalia region such as Dusseldorf, Aachen, and Koblenz which we visited using the hotel as a base to sleep and have breakfast.
It is also less than 1 mile away from the Cologne Cathedral, which is a nice walk down quiet back streets."
"The hotel is not new but our room had been redone and was perfectly fine. The rate is really good for the location. Obviously being close to the cathedral means front row seat for the bell ringing ;-). So if you enjoy a lie-in, it's probably better to choose an hotel further away.
The area around the hotel is great, lively with lots of options to eat."
