The place that wanted to be but that was NOT
1/ No phone in the room to get in touch with the reception -> Excuse "People have mobile phones now" of course I will make an international phone call to the reception
2/ There is no cleaning service or washing machines, so if you come for a week (in my case 9 days), you are invited to go to St Pauli (20mins away) and find yourself a laundry service, BUT they have an ironing board ...
3/ The house cleaning is done every 3 days and is a very conceptual understanding what house cleaning actually is, if you don't ask them, they will just do your bed not change the linen or pillow case for new ones -> Excuse of the hotel "I selected the eco friendly option", I did not, on the booking page there is no option for it, and it's not explained at the reception that the free drink is as a thank you for such a selection.
4/ The ice machine was dying producing a couple half molten cubes in 4 minutes
5/ The hotel hides behind their "Lean Luxury philosophy" which should translate as "save as much money where you can"
6/ The "open bathroom concept with all-glass rain shower" is terrible, you can not go with a teenager as it is fairly seethrough in spite of the sanding of the glasswall and no, there is no curtain for the shower, the shower and the toilets are in the same space, the lack of partition means that when one is in use the other can't be, you turn the toilet area into a swimming pool and no intimacy whatsoever.
